It was nice once he hand Vanessa found a place to dance out on the floor. William was having a pretty good time already, and it was nice to stretch out from all of the riding. He realized he had been doing a lot of thinking to himself the last few minutes. William couldn’t help but think about the fact that he was going to be needing to find a job soon that he could take up for a few months, and he knew that a phone call home was long over due. That however was not a conversation that he was looking forward too because it would become the same thing, and William knew he still wasn’t ready to deal with it all. Instead of dealing with those emotions in the middle of the dance floor he focused on Vanessa’s question, "So, where are you from William?"
“Richmond, Virginia. So I’m pretty far from home, but kinda like I said a little bit ago, I’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately. And I honestly can say I have no real idea how I ended up here in Forks.” William laughed a little at how silly that sounded because Forks was such a small place that it seemed the only way to get there was on purpose. A second later he was brought out of his joking by someone stepping on his foot. William realized by the look on Vanessa’s face and the fact she was apologizing that it had been her. He shrugged it off and waved as if it was no problem. “Don’t even worry about it. I used to play a lot of sports; if I can handle that then I think if you step on my feet a couple times we’ll be fine.”

Jasper was glad that Rosalie seemed to understand his need to speak with Esme. He smiled thankfully at his twin and squeezed her hand as Rosalie said, "I will be over with the rest of the family when you are ready for me to rejoin you, brother. Spend a few dances with our mother and then we will decide if we want to stay longer or to leave for the night. We should plan the family camping trip soon. I will talk to Edward and Bella about it." Jasper nodded then, “I think it will take at the very least two or three songs before Esme and I have talked enough.” Rosalie left a few seconds later to sit where the Cullen family and friends seemed to be gathering.
Jasper made his way off of the dance floor just as a song was coming to a close. He reached his family as Esme had reached across and given Rosalie a hug in greeting and going back to her place in the small circle. Jasper lightly touched Esme’s shoulder and she turned around and when she saw Jasper a hesitant smile graced her face. Which again brought back Jasper’s guilt, because he never wanted Esme to be afraid of smiling around him, or to be unsure of how to act near him. Jasper forcefully reminded himself that he was at a party and that it was time to have a good time and he smiled at Esme asking, “Would you like to dance?”
The excitement and joy from Esme at that moment made Jasper feel immensely better as she took his hand smiling, “I would love to.” Jasper led his adoptive mother to the dance floor just as a slower song had begun, which was a good thing since he knew they needed to talk with one another. But before he began to dance with Esme he leaned and gave her a hug, because from the years on knowing her, that was probably something she had wanted to do since Esme had seen him at the party. Jasper’s suspicions where proven true when Esme held onto Jasper and whispered, “I am so happy to have you home.” Jasper smiled as they stepped a little from each other and he said, “I’m happy to be home.” Jasper cleared his throat then as a joking gesture and took Esme’s hands into his and the two began dancing.

Esme was already feeling better by just standing with her family and simply enjoying their company. A few moments after she had reached them Rosalie came over and gave her own greetings. Esme glanced to see where Jasper may have gone to, but she saw that Jasper had not left and he was just walking off the dance floor. Esme turned back to her family and tried to calm herself down with the knowledge that Jasper would probably be coming over soon. It had been so long since she had seen her son, much less spoke with him. Just as she was becoming wrapped up in her thoughts she turned at a tap on her shoulder to see Jasper standing behind her. Esme turned to face him and she could feel the tentative smile on her face, unsure of what to do now that she was facing Jasper. She knew that with his gift that Jasper had to be feeling a mix of emotions, especially around so many people and the last thing Esme wanted was to cause more harm.
Jasper smiled at Esme asking, “Would you like to dance?” Esme loved her family deeply, and everyone in their own way, and right then Esme felt her love for Jasper grow a little as he seemed to understand that she wanted to spend time with him. She also felt like a mother because she wanted to check on Jasper to make sure that he was doing alright and that he at least felt better then he had since his return. “I would love to.” Esme went out to the dance floor with Jasper and before they had begun to dance, Jasper leaned down and gave her a hug. She held her son for several moments and could feel the parts of her that had been hurting begin to feel better. Esme was ecstatic that Jasper understood that she had wanted to hug him, and had been able to handle that by showing it was okay to hug him.

“Richmond, Virginia. So I’m pretty far from home, but kinda like I said a little bit ago, I’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately. And I honestly can say I have no real idea how I ended up here in Forks.” Oh wow. Vanessa thought to herself. That is pretty far. "Have you been to any cool places?" She asked wondering were he had been. This honestly sounded like something Vanessa would do just to get away from her mother. She would go to New York, California, anywhere really that she hadn't been before. Vanessa smiled a little at William saying he had no idea how he ended up in Forks. She could understand wanting to go to Port Angeles or Seattle but Forks? Vanessa hadn't even known that Forks existed till her mother made her move here.
Vanessa was still looking apologetic and even blushed, something that rarely happened, when William said “Don’t even worry about it. I used to play a lot of sports; if I can handle that then I think if you step on my feet a couple times we’ll be fine.” She smiled a little. "What did you play?" Vanessa's imagination immediately took over and she started imagining William playing football, maybe soccer or baseball. She had never really been into sports much. Dancing was mainly her thing, which was why she was shocked she stepped on William's foot. She usually wasn't that klutzy with dancing. Maybe walking, but not dancing.

Kaleb made a playful and funny "guffaw" sound as Lucy swatted at him with the back of her hand, letting him know before she even said a word that he had scared her…yet again. Then she turned to Katelyn and excused herself so that she could "…teach Cowboy here a thing or two about how we dance in Washington." Kaleb smiled and nodded at Katelyn as Lucy pulled him out towards the dance floor.
Within minutes there they were, dancing and to Kaleb it didn't even feel like they hadn't seen each other in a few days, until Lucy brought it up. Kaleb took in a deep breath and sighed in agreement, and frustration because he had wanted to see her since the minute they had last parted. Then he said in a straight face, "Yeah...I know, I sure have missed getting hit in the gut for scaring you…again." He shook his head, trying to keep the stoic, and serious look on his face. Then, suddenly, before he knew that she would have time to retaliate with a smart aleck remark he stepped back and silently cued her to do a few spins. As he spun her back into his arms to resume where they had left off, he put on the biggest and most playful smile that he could muster up, but went on to actually answer her first question, as if nothing had happened. "But really, I've just been busy helping my dad with some stuff around the house and such…How has my graceful Lucy been lately? Tell me all about her!"

Jasper’s slight paranoia about dancing with Esme began to melt away as they continued to dance in silence. In fact the entire song passes with neither of them saying anything, except for when Esme towards the end of the song rested her head on his chest. He knew how happy Esme was and he didn’t need to have his gift for that. Esme was a family woman and she always seemed to be happiest when she was with her family, with it not even mattering where they were at. And Jasper had never been one for hugging of any sort, but Esme had been one of the ones who could get away with it on those rare occasions. She loved her family unconditionally and it never mattered whether they had done something wrong or not, Esme would always love them.
Jasper stepped back a little from Esme so that he could talk to her while they danced, “Esme I…” Esme looked up at Jasper with a smile brighter than the lights that they were dancing under and she shook her head. “You don’t have to say anything Jasper. You’re home and safe, that’s all that matters.” Esme laughed as she twirled herself under his arm as the song ended and when she came back, “Besides we are at a celebration, we are suppose to be having a good time.” Jasper felt the need to give Esme another hug, but he led her into the next song with a faint smile, “Thanks mom.” Jasper knew Esme would see what he had said. His relationship as Esme’s son had never really been as blatant as Esme’s relationship with Edward, Emmett, or even to an extent Jacob. It was more unspoken, and the times were few and far between that it was brought up or spoken about. Esme hugged Jasper again quickly before going back to dancing with him.

Esme was close to nirvana. Her family was all home, everyone was safe and fairly happy, she had gotten private time with her husband, and right then life could not have been much better for Esme. Another positive to add to her list was that Esme was getting to dance with Jasper, her son that had been gone for so long. An action that turned out to not be a decision of his own making, something that pleased Esme because she never wanted to think her family would leave that way and be gone for so long. Jasper stepped away slightly as Esme came out of her self musings and he looked down as if he were about to say something. Esme had a sinking feeling that it was going to be along the lines of an apology or an explanation as to what had happened. She knew that Jasper had a hard time with apologize, and admitting if he had messed up, but Esme had not seen much wrong with Jasper’s actions at the time.
Yes she was hurt that he had left in the first place, but the fact that he came back made up for that, and the fact he was able to face his family again. Esme looked at Jasper smiling with all of the joy at having him home, “You don’t have to say anything Jasper. You’re home and safe, that’s all that matters.” Esme stepped back and twirled herself under his arm and came back to his arm, “Besides we are at a celebration, we are suppose to be having a good time.” The song had ended and Esme was glad as Jasper showed no signs of wanting to stop dancing with her. “Thanks mom.” If any time she were allowed to cry as a vampire that would have been one of the moments. There were very few times that Jasper had ever called her mother.
Esme had always known that they both understood it, but it happened so rarely when spoken that she treasured it all the more when it was spoken. She reached forward and hugged her son quickly and going back to dancing with the upbeat song. Esme decided that she was in nirvana at that moment.

Vanessa seemed to have a bit of a look on her face when he said that he had come from Virginia, and he simply grinned. She then asked the typical question when people found out that William traveled a lot. "Have you been to any cool places?" William thought about his answer for a few moments, but it had become such a frequent question it had almost become a natural answer. He grinned an nodded his head, “Tons of amazing places. Just about the only states I haven‘t been too are the New England states. Oh and obviously Hawaii, you can‘t really ride a motorcycle there. I spent a lot of time in Florida at the amusement parks.”
William couldn’t help but smile a little as Vanessa blushed from the fact that she had just stepped on his foot. Most of what he had said was a joke, but he meant what he had said, sports injuries put most pain into comparison. “What did you play?” William sighed as he thought for a moment over the list of sports, “Well I played a lot of sports with my friends in the free time I had, football the last two years of high school, and baseball in high school and through college. I was going to stay behind and help with my college team, but traveling sounded like a little too much fun.” That wasn’t the complete truth, but concerning the party and the fact that he had just met Vanessa he wasn’t going to tell her that.

Lucy grinned at Kaleb’s noise making as she had gently slapped him in the stomach with the back of her hand. She wasn’t really mad at him, Lucy was too happy at the fact that he had come to the party to be upset. Lucy did feel a little bad about leaving Katelyn to her own devises but she would make it up to her friend later. However her concerns were washed way with the fact that she was with Kaleb and she was able to dance with him. Now that they were together the fact that they had spent time apart melted away and Lucy couldn’t help from smiling. Kaleb sighed and looked at Lucy with a straight face that made her frown slightly before he started speaking, "Yeah...I know, I sure have missed getting hit in the gut for scaring you…again."
Lucy felt a mock glare on her face but it broke when she stuck her tongue out at Kaleb before speaking, “Oh I know it must be pure torture for you to have to scare me like that.” Before Lucy had any chance of a reaction Kaleb stepped back from Lucy but she knew something was up, and was luckily able to keep on her toes as Kaleb spun her. Lucy spun back into his arms and she was grateful that she knew how to dance otherwise she would have been extremely dizzy. As it was she silently put her free hand back on Kaleb’s shoulder and continued to dance with him.
A few seconds later Kaleb answered her original question, "But really, I've just been busy helping my dad with some stuff around the house and such…How has my graceful Lucy been lately? Tell me all about her!" Lucy laughed a little, “Well your Lucy has been missing a certain Cowboy.” Lucy stepped further into his arms at that point and wrapped her arms around Kaleb’s waist. “And she’s been spending most of her time at home or hanging out with her two friends. Oh and you’d be proud of me, I’ve been trying to practice Two Stepping; I think I am much better now.” Lucy looked up at Kaleb with a proud smile.

I spent a lot of time in Florida at the amusement parks.” Vanessa smiled. "Oh. wow. That sounds like so much fun!" She wished she even had the option to travel anywhere. Maybe go back to her old home and see a few friends, but her mom was annoyingly paranoid about it. Vanessa never quite understood why. Vanessa just liked the idea of the freedom, the choice to be anywhere you wanted. “Well I played a lot of sports with my friends in the free time I had, football the last two years of high school, and baseball in high school and through college. I was going to stay behind and help with my college team, but traveling sounded like a little too much fun.” Vanessa smiled, a little. From what she'd guessed, she had gotten the two right... "Were you one of the big, intimidating jocks? The ones that throw the nerds in their lockers?" She said smiling, and joking around with him. She was almost positive he wasn't one of those jocks. He seemed too nice.

William imagined that after telling Vanessa all of the places that he had gone to, she was probably day dreaming. He could tell by the look on her face that Vanessa seemed to be thinking about something and traveling all over the country, seemed like the topic of thought. Vanessa then smiled at William’s answer about what sports he played in high school. "Were you one of the big, intimidating jocks? The ones that throw the nerds in their lockers?” William laughed as they continued to dance, “Far from it, I think my mom and dad would have beat me senseless if I was that sorta person.”
William then laughed again as he remembered his first days at school, “Now that I think about it I was suspended for two weeks because I beat up that sort when I was in high school. Then again it was my friend.” William shrugged like it had not been a big deal, which for William it really wasn’t because it was just William defending his friend.

“Far from it, I think my mom and dad would have beat me senseless if I was that sorta person.” Vanessa smiled, thinking back to when she had first started school. She had always been the shy nerd-ish girl that always had a book with her wherever she went. She had high expectations of herself and studied extra hard. She planned on going Ivy League for college, but wasn't sure that sounded so good now. Sure, Ivy League schools are better, but she might not even get in... "Hm...I was the shy geeky girl that was basically invisible to everyone. But, that was freshman year. Forks has kind of helped me come out of my shell."
“Now that I think about it I was suspended for two weeks because I beat up that sort when I was in high school. Then again it was my friend.” Vanessa laughed a little. "Well, thats good. Sticking up for your friends. For us girls, its a little harder. You guys fight with fists while girls fight with rumors and gossip and lies....not that you guys don't have it hard..."

William grinned as he seemed to amuse Vanessa with his joking about his parents beating him. It was true though, William had been raised to respect others and stand up for what he believed in. William was also raised in a household with two older sisters and while they gave each other hell growing up they had also helped William learn how to act. That started William down a thought path that he did not feel like considering at the moment. That thought train is what most of the cause behind his road trip was to get away from his old life that had too much sadness for him to out right deal with. That was another thought that bothered William, that he was running away from what had happened, but he tried to force himself to see things in another light.
"Well, that’s good. Sticking up for your friends. For us girls, its a little harder. You guys fight with fists while girls fight with rumors and gossip and lies....not that you guys don't have it hard..." William laughed and nodded, “Oh I can’t argue with that. I remember plenty of times with my older sisters hearing stuff like that went on. Guys, we fight with are fist and usually after that we‘re done that‘s it. I don‘t think girls ever stop fighting once they start.” William remembered a time in his life when he had been young and his oldest sister had come home with tears in her eyes. Being young and naive at the time William promised to beat up whoever had made his sister cry. Finding out that it had been a girl to cause the tears William had wanted to find the girl’s brother to make things even.

I don‘t think girls ever stop fighting once they start.” Vanessa frowned a little. "Oh trust me, I know." She remembered where they had lived when she was in middle school....basically the definition of drama. There had been tons of rumors and gossip and Vanessa stayed out of it all, until she dated a football player,Rick, that is. She wasn't sure how exactly they started dating, they just kind of got along. But, then rumors started swirling that she was pregnant, that they were getting married, and all ridiculous things like that. It was horrible. Vanessa and Rick, broke up shortly after that, not being able to handle all of it. It was absolutely horrible. Later, Vanessa found out it had been her best friend spreding the rumors about her. To say the least, they weren't friends after that.

Rosalie left Jasper’s side and walked over to the side of the dance floor to join her family. She knew that Jasper needed time with their mother and she was going to give him that. As she reached the area where the family was she smiled as Esme hugged her. Rosalie loved their mother as if she was her true mother. Esme had been Rosalie’s mother for over a century now and in all the ways that counted she was a real mother to them, even if she was only a few years older than they were when she was turned. Rosalie knew that her family was a strange family but she loved them all even if she did not always act like she did.
When she joined the rest of the family as Jasper asked Esme to dance and led her to the dance floor, Rosalie smiled at Edward and Bella. They were talking to Raine and Arkan as well as a few others. Rosalie knew Lexi but she was not sure about the humans that were there. ”Hello all.” She said politely. Rosalie then turned to Lexi to address her. ”It is nice to see you home Lexi. I know that Jacob must be glad to have you back at the reservation.” Rosalie said smiling at her. It had been years since she had seen Lexi around Forks. She wondered what all Lexi had been going but knew that the company was not right to ask her that.
Rosalie then turned her attention to her cousins that had just recently returned from their honeymoon. ”So Raine and Arkan, do you enjoy your long honeymoon. Raine you must come up to the mansion and tell me all about it soon. We have miss you both while you were away.” Rosalie said trying to be as polite as possible. She knew that when they left she was not being the most welcoming but she was dealing with losing Jasper and was not in a welcoming mood then. Rosalie would try to make up for that now that her twin was home and safe.
Rosalie then turned to her brother and sister. "Jasper and I were just discussing the fact that we have not been on a family camping trip in so long that. We think that we should get the family together and go on one like we used to. I don't think that we have been on a family trip since before Bella joined us." Rosalie said quietly to them so that only the vampires that were around would hear her. She knew that the humans would not understand but she was not taking any chances.
