Lucy was having a great time just standing on the dance floor and talking to her friend. She did feel bad and felt as if she had ignored Vanessa that was why Vanessa had left. In the back of her mind Lucy was hoping that Vanessa didn’t think she was a rude jerk. Lucy looked to see that her newest friend was not alone and in fact was with a small gathering of people. She immediately felt better that Vanessa wasn’t having time sitting around waiting for something to happen. Lucy turned her attention back to Katelyn when someone tapped her on the shoulder. Luckily the regular Lucy was not in control so she did not jump a thousand feet in the air.
Lucy did feel herself jolt slightly because of the mere fact that she was in a group of people and not all of her attention was focused at that time. Just as she turned around to see who had tapped on her shoulder Lucy heard a familiar Southern drawl, "Excuse me ma'am...I don't know 'bout you but where I'm from we don't call this dancing. May I cut in?" Lucy pretended to be annoyed and lightly slapped the back of her hand into Kaleb’s stomach. “Geeze Cowboy way to scare me.” Kaleb also mentioned that where he came from they weren’t dancing. Lucy rolled her eyes and slid her hand into Kaleb’s while glancing back at Katelyn, “I’ll talk to you later Kate. I have to teach Cowboy here a thing or two about how we dance in Washington.” Lucy playfully wriggled her eyebrows and laughed pulling Kaleb towards the rest of the dancers.
“So how have you been Cowboy I haven’t talked to you in a few days.” In fact before Kaleb had walked up to her on the dance floor Lucy was doubtful if he would even be at the birthday party for the town.

Alice smiled momentarily at Nathaniel's commentary that she would know when he would marry before he ever would. Seeing the future did have its perks in the way of planning things and knowing when people were planning things for her. That was one upside to her power after a few downfalls that she would rather not have, such as the blindness when it came to the wolves and halfbreeds like her niece. A small laugh escaped her lips. It was good to laugh like this as she had not really in a long time. This party was definitely what she needed to lift her spirits, so she was thankful that Forks was celebrating a birthday right then.
Upon hearing Nathaniel's response, she understood why he was being polite because of the time he had come from. Looking toward her family, she saw that most were still occupied with their own things and conversations. "Most of my family seems to be tied up among their own things right now," she said. "Edward and Bella are talking, Rosalie is kind of doing her own thing, and Jasper looks like he's about to dance with Esme. As for the rest of my family...I honestly don't even know if they're here actually." Alice scanned the crowd for any sign of the rest of her family, but saw no one. "Carlisle has been working some pretty long hours at the hospital and Renesmee and Jacob have their little one to attend to, so I don't really think they'll make it tonight." For a moment, Alice stood in front of Nathaniel and pondered what to do. She did not really feel like third wheeling with anyone in her family and impose on their conversations or dances, but she did not wish for Nathaniel to feel obligated to dance with her either. Instead, she choose another option. Looking to Nathaniel, she nodded her head and smiled. "Thank you for the dance Nathaniel," she said sweetly. "It was lovely dancing with you." With those words, she began to make her way toward the side of the dance floor to observe peacefully.

William stopped and allowed his motorcycle to remain idle as he lifted his helmet visor to read the sign in front of him. ‘Welcome to Forks’ William sighed and slipped down his visor before taking off towards the town he had just learned to be called Forks. A few short minutes later William was not confronted by a quiet town getting ready to rest for the night. He found himself faced with was appeared to be a town wide block party. “That could be promising.”
William found a place to park his motorcycle after a few minutes of searching and after putting away everything he made his way towards the crowd. He stood on what looked like the dance floor under the lights strung up. He walked around a few minutes and guessed that most of the town had to be out at the party with how many people were there. William decided that he wasn’t too hungry and made his way towards the tables that were not far from the full dance floor.

Before Katelyn could really get the chance to talk with Lucy after Vanessa disappeared to the side of the dance floor, Kaleb showed up at the dance and swept Lucy away in a matter of seconds. With a huge sigh and a roll of her eyes, Katelyn resigned to disappearing back to the sidelines of the dance floor while her best friends enjoyed their time with the guys. "So much for friend time," she muttered half-heartedly to herself as she sat down on one of the picnic table benches. As she watched the dance floor, she wondered if she would ever find someone who made her as happy as Kaleb made Lucy or Jon made Kenzie. After the stuff she had done in her past, she wondered if she was worthy of being loved by anyone. Even though she had turned her behavior around and made amends, she was still paying for it two years later.
As she looked around, she saw many other people from Forks she recognized by reputation dancing on the floor. Edward and Bella Cullen were present, as well as the ever-lovely and beautiful Rosalie Hale, accompanied by her brother Jasper. From what Katelyn knew of the Cullen family, they were good people that were well respected by the town of Forks. Thier father, Carlisle Cullen, was the best doctor anyone had ever seen and the hardest working one to boot. Katelyn sighed and continued to watch her surroundings, hoping that she would run into someone else she knew so she could have some semblance of a good evening.

Vanessa looked over and saw someone sitting alone. Finally gathering all her courage she had saved up for the past like 3 months, she said quick goodbyes to Raine and her husband and walked over. "Anyone sitting here?" She asked him, her eyebrows raised sligtly and pointing to the spot next to him.
The main reason she came to talk to him was that he seemed like he was new around Forks and so was she. Forks was starting to get her out of her shell. She had made so many friends over the past few weeks that she wondered if she would be friends with everyong in the town by the time she graduated. This guy though, Vanessa knew must be going through what she did.. being a little friendless right now. But, people in Forks were nice enough, and maybe she was out to prove that.

It was true that William had been sitting for a couple of hours on his motorcycle, but at the moment it was nice to just stretch out his legs. He was enjoying the music in peace when a few moments later he heard a girl ask, “Anyone sitting here?” William looked over to see a girl that was probably a couple years younger than he was and she had dark brown hair. She was pretty good looking and before he would look like a moron in front of her William nodded. “Not unless you want to sit here.” William then scooted over to give her a little more space on the bench. “My name’s William by the way.” Will said holding out his hand to the girl. He wasn’t sure if it was proper manners or not to shake her hand, but he figured he had already offered it so there was no use in worrying.

Vanessa smiled. The "new guy" as she had been previously calling him had a name. William. 'Hi. Im Vanessa." She said shaking his hand lightly. She sat down and looked out towards the dance floor smiling as she saw Kaleb and Lucy. They were really cute together and both looked very happy. She was happy for them. "So," she said looking towards William again. "Are you new to Forks?" To be honest, Vanessa wouldn't be surprised if he said that he wasn't new. She didn't know that many people in Forks, and for all she knew, he could've lived here all his life. Though, she really doubted it. He didn't look like the small town type. As she looked over, she noticed he seemed to be a few years older then her. She wondered how many, but dismissed it because she thought it would be rude to ask.

Luckily the girl didn’t seem to be put off by the fact William had offered his hand to shake. In fact she lightly took his hand in her own and quickly shook his hand as she introduced herself. Vanessa, as she said her name was sat down next to him in the empty space and looked out onto the dance floor. William followed her line of sight to see in the middle of dancers a petite girl about Vanessa’s age standing in the arms of a Cowboy sort of guy. She must have been friends with one or the both of them from what William could tell about her smile. Vanessa turned her attention back to him and asked if he was new to Forks. William kind of laughed to himself and turned to Vanessa with a half grin on his face, “Is it really obvious? Forks seems like a town where everyone knows everyone.”
William ran a hand through his hair and realized that he was going to need to cut it soon. He never wanted to be the biker that had hair flowing out the back of his helmet leaving others to wonder if a man or woman rode the bike. William figured that he could stay in Forks for a few days to see what it would be like before he headed off for his next big ride. It also wouldn’t hurt to find a short part time job to fill up his bank account.

“Is it really obvious? Forks seems like a town where everyone knows everyone.” Vanessa smiled. "Not too obvious. Im pretty new here too. I moved here like a month ago. So, your not alone." Vanessa watched him run a hand through his hair and knew that she would have to dye it again soon, or let it go back to blond. Its something she would have to ask Lucy or Katelyn about. They would be sure to ask her. Vanessa's thought once again drifted to what Lucy and Katelyn had said about "dancing lessons." She may very well take them up on that offer. She was just thinking how great it would be to dance again when she remembered she had someone sitting next to her.
"So, your moving to Forks now?" She asked. She knew some people just couldn't stand the small town life and just breezed through town. She kind of hoped that William wasn't one of them. He seemed nice, and she could always use new friends.

William looked around at the party and realized that it probably wasn’t an over exaggeration to say that the entire town had turned out for the party. He nodded to Vanessa when she said it wasn’t too obvious how new he looked. Vanessa also told him that she was also fairly new to the area and William hoped she wouldn’t take her joke so seriously. William made a slightly pained face, “I’m sorry for that.” The side of his mouth turned up slightly at his joking about Vanessa’s move to Forks. His situation was probably far different then what Vanessa had to deal with. William had complete choice in coming to Forks where Vanessa probably had no choice whatsoever.
"So, your moving to Forks now?" William shook his head, “I think I’m more of a tumbleweed.” He grinned at his answer and realized that he could probably explain more, “I promise I’m not trying to give you my life story but I’ve finished up most of school and I just decided to take some time off. So the last few months I’ve been riding my motorcycle around enjoying the country.” William frowned as he realized how dumb that probably sounded and he turned to Vanessa with a grin, “And I promise that I’m not in a biker gang or anything like that.”

Vanessa smiled and laughed a little at William's expression. It almost looked as if he was in pain. “I’m sorry for that.” She smiled a little wider. "No biggy." she said flitting a hand in the air to signify it was fine. When Vanessa asked if he was staying in Forks, she got a very simple response. “I think I’m more of a tumbleweed.” She nodded her head slowly, waiting for more information. “I promise I’m not trying to give you my life story but I’ve finished up most of school and I just decided to take some time off. So the last few months I’ve been riding my motorcycle around enjoying the country. And I promise Im not in a biker gang or anything like that." Vanessa grinned. Too bad. She thought somewhat sadly. She thought that William could be a good friend, but if he didn't stay in Forks, there wasn't really much of a chance of that happening.
"Oh thats too bad...." she said, then quickly adding "About the whole tumbleweed thing." She said to clear that she was okay with the fact he wasn't in the biker gang. "Better enjoy your time while your here." She said standing up and gesturing towards the dance floor. This was a pretty bold move for Vanessa considering that she never really talked to guys, much less offered to dance with them.

Nathaniel grinned as Alice seemed to understand easily enough the he had made towards her gift. He realized it would come off as a strange comment to make for anyone listening in on the conversation. It was however amusing to Nathaniel and most likely to Alice because they both knew what was going on and what they really meant. He also had the urge to ask Alice to see if she knew whether or not he would ever find a mate. Nathaniel almost immediately chastised himself for thinking that and knew it wouldn’t be right of him to ask in the first place.
If he was meant to know before hand then he would and not a moment too soon. Nathaniel watched as Alice looked over to where a majority of her family had gathered. He then listened as Alice listed all of her family members that were not there and where they must be at for not being at the party. Nathaniel nodded his understanding and at the mention of Nessie and Jacob, Nate snapped as he remembered, “Thank you for reminding me Alice. I found a gift at a store the other night that would be perfect for Alicia. It has several kits where you can make the child’s hand imprints, as well as their feet, and other little first time parent memorabilia.”
Nathaniel chuckled at the thought of the seven sets of baby hand print kits that he had gotten, with his justification that Alicia grew quickly and would need often documentation for memories. Several moments later Alice thanked Nathaniel for the dance before making her way towards the side of the dance floor. Nathaniel stood there for a few moments and stepped politely off of the dance floor on the opposite side to watch the party with a peaceful smile on his face.

William felt his grin grow a little as Vanessa took his joking in stride and waved it off like nothing had happened. "No biggy." William then had to wonder how often it was an answer to a question when Vanessa didn’t seem too shocked by the tumble weed comment. Althougth he wasn’t exactly sure how likely that was considering how small that the town was, and where it was. Now if he was in the middle of the United States, Christian would not have given it another thought. The fact being was Fork, Washington was barely a blip on the radar if anything. Vanessa seemed to be a little disappointed in the fact that he was not going to be sticking around town and clarified just in case William thought she had meant the biker gang bit.
"Better enjoy your time while your here." Vanessa said as she got to her feet nodding at the dance floor. William was a little shocked that a girl seemed to be confident enough to ask a guy to dance. He then shrugged, “Why not?” William got to his feet and took Vanessa’s hand in his making his way towards the dance floor. It had been awhile since he had danced with anyone but he figured it would be a nice way to stretch out from all of the sitting that he had been doing lately.

“Why not?” Vanessa smiled as William stood up, took her hand and started walking towards the dance floor. If he was leaving, then Vanessa wanted him to have good thoughts about Forks. As they started dancing, Vanessa couldn't believe just how much she had changed since she moved to Forks. Before, she wouldn't have even went to talk to a guy, now she was asking one to dance?! Snapping out of her thoughts once more, she also realized how spacey she had become. "So, were are you from William?" She said, trying to strike up more conversation and also wanting to know more about him. Vanessa wasn't paying attention to what she was doing and, like the true spazz she was, stepped on William's foot. Vanessa frowned and her eyes grew a little wider. "Oh...Im sorry." She said with an apologetic look.

Post by Rosalie Hale on Sept 2, 2009 14:13:03 GMT -5
Rosalie was enjoying dancing with her twin, but when he asked if she minded if he went ahead and danced with Esme, she was glad to hear that. "I will be over with the rest of the family when you are ready for me to rejoin you, brother. Spend a few dances with our mother and then we will decide if we want to stay longer or to leave for the night. We should plan the family camping trip soon. I will talk to Edward and Bella about it." Rosalie said as she left his side and walked over to where the rest of her family was standing. She knew that first thing in the morning she would go to Nessie's house to talk to her about Jasper and the camping trip.
As Rosalie reached the rest of the family, she saw that a few of the faces were ones that she had not seen in a long time. She saw that Lexi had returned as well as Reah. Rosalie wondered why Reah was in Forks without Remy. It was not like her to leave his side. "Hello all." Rosalie said as she stopped at Edward's side. She was about to ask to talke to him and Bella, but she decided that it would be better to talk to them tomorrow about the trip. She was still unsure of where Emmett was and that was bugging her greatly. With out Jasper being at her side, her mind was left to wonder about where her husband was and why he was not there with her.
