Bella stood in front of Alice, motionless for a few seconds before she clenched her jaws. “You’re absolutely right, Alice.” She shook her head as she turned around and took a few steps in the other direction, rubbing her hand over her face. Bella had agreed to every single thing that Alice was feeling, until she mentioned that her heart did not deserve happiness. She stood, staring at Alice for a few moments, her jaw clenched tightly. “ You’re the one that should be alone , because you tried to move on. You tried to have a life, to exist and be able to function in a world where you felt completely lost. Because that makes sense Alice,” She could a slight growl escape her teeth as she hissed at Alice. “ Jasper didn’t just betray you, he betrayed all of us. Our entire family was torn apart over what happened, you were.. Lifeless, Rose was hardly here.” Bella shook her head, trying to fight back the anger that was overwhelming her before she turned to Alice, “And you believe that he deserves happiness and you don’t? What sense does that possibly make, Alice?” Bella narrowed her eyes as she bit her tongue. In her heart she knew that they both deserved happiness, but to actually hear from Alice that she felt that her heart was undeserving, was enough to set Bella off. “ You have done nothing wrong. The only mistake you had made since Jasper left, is what you’re doing right now. Justifying a miserable existence, because you don’t think you’re deserving. You want someone to love Jasper just as much as you have? That’s you, Alice. That’s all you,” Bella took in a deep breath and sighed, hoping that the fresh air would clear her senses and her mind as she could feel her anger beginning to pour into each word that she spat at Alice.
“ You act like letting Evan go would be the worst pain he ever felt,” Bellas thoughts turned to Jacob, and how hard it was for her to let him go, to put any pain on him, when he was so undeserving, “But what you don’t realize is that by stringing him along, and marrying him when I know you don’t love him the way that you love Jasper, is only hurting him in the long run. You will completely obliterate any chance he has to find a love like the one you and Jasper share. Is that fair to him? Do you want him to be denied the love and admiration that you felt the first time that you met Jasper at that café?” Bella took a few steps closer to Alice, trying her best to soften her face as she could still feel her anger at her friend rising in her chest, “This is not going to be easy. It shouldn’t be. Jasper abandoned you, Alice. You had your family, but I know how alone you felt. Wishing, that you could sleep just so that you could get away from everything that reminded you of him, just for a moment. Wishing that you could cry, because some comfort would be found in getting it out of your system, as though it would be getting Jasper out of your system. But he’s not, Alice. He is just as much a part of you, as any of the rest of us, even in his absence he was the beat to your heart. I know this, because I felt it too,” Bella looked down at the ground and narrowed her eyebrows, “I know what it’s like to feel like you are undeserving of love. But to be undeserving of happiness? Alice that’s insane,” Bella relaxed her stance as she looked up at the sky.
Silence passed for a few seconds, minutes even. “Do you honestly think that anyone could love Jasper the way that you do? That anyone could love Edward the way that I do? Or Rosalie and Emmett?” Bella lowered her eyes back to Alice as she ran her mind through all of the couples, and how it seemed as though they were intricately designed for one another. Each able to handle what the other was going through, and to be able to do it with an overwhelming amount of love that made it seem impossible that anything was ever going to break it. “ To break Evans heart now, would be sad,” Bella nodded, knowing that it was true, “ But to not let him, find someone who gives him his his purpose, is tragic. You deserve happiness Alice. You deserve love, knee-buckling can’t live without you, reason to live this damned life, love. Not something to try and help you cope, to just make you exist without really living,” Bella shook her head, clearly frustrated, “ You could live with your choice of staying with Evan, but Jasper gives you life. It hurts, Alice, I know. But he couldn’t hurt you this much, if there wasn’t some part of you that loved him still, and I know you do,” Bella looked over at Alice and took her hand, “Make this choice for you, not for anyone else. Don’t make it because you think that’s what we want you to do, or because you’re afraid of hurting someone. You deserve happiness. If it isn’t meant to be with Evan, or with Jasper, they will find a way to move on.” Bella tightened her hand around Alice’s as she looked at her, trying to calm herself down from the anger that had passed over her.

Alice stood in front of her sister, taking the brunt of her anger in humility. Everything Bella said to her was like sticking a spear into an open wound and then throwing salt on top of it; the pain she was feeling was almost unbearable. She knew her sister was angry with her, there was no doubt in her mind that Bella was beyond fuming for what she had said. But Alice could not help but state her feelings as they were overrunning her right then. Her tiny frame should have been racked with sobbing, but not a single tear shed from her eye. She thought of what she would give to be able to cry; to show the world how much pain she was in. The only emotion vampires were really capable of showing in any sort of constructive manner was anger, which actually was demonstrated through destructive means. However, Alice was not angry in the least bit. Ashamed and confused, yes. Crossed and furious, no. Alice could not recall a single time that she had been truly enraged; not even when she learned of how Jasper had cheated on her. The more powerful emotion had been hurt. Not once had she ever believed that he would do such a thing and then it happened. Now everyone was dealing with the reprocussions of that ill-fated night.
The words Bella continued to pour out to her stung like the venom of a thousand vampire bites all over Alice's body, even though she knew that every word Bella was saying was true. There was no one else in the world who could have loved Jasper as much as she had and still did. Without saying one word, Alice knew that she could not keep up the charade much longer and act like she wanted the best for both Evan and Jasper and not herself. The truth was, she wanted to be selfish for the first time in her existence. She wanted things to be how they used to be with Jasper; to spend lazy afternoons out in the forest with him, to jump on his back and kiss his cheek for no reason at all, and to know that she belonged to someone fully and completely. However much she loved and cared for Evan, it was still not to be matched by the love she had for Jasper. Bella was right and Alice could do nothing to deny it. Her sister knew her better than anyone else. Mentioning the other couples in the family made that even more apparent to Alice than before. The love she had for Jasper was unique and one of a kind, never before seen or known to mankind. They had trusted each other so fully in the diner that day over a century ago to leave and begin a life together. To look back on that and then see herself now, Alice knew that it was pitiful.
Looking at her sister with somber eyes, she tried to think of something to say. Her words were jumbled and mixed up in her head and there was only feeling there. The feelings of fear and turmoil over what she should do versus what her heart wanted her to do. Finding a tree stump, she sat down and put her head in her hands. How did everything get so off track? she asked herself. Letting her mind wander for a few moments as she collected herself mentally and emotionally, she caught a glimpse of another memory. It had been while Jasper was training the family to fight the newborns. She had taken him on to prove to Bella that she was able to fend for herself. The fight lasted no more than two minutes before she had jumped onto Jasper's back and kissed his cheek. "You are truly one frightening little monster," he had said to her. Once the memory died, she looked back at Bella and stood up before walking over to be close to her sister again. "I love him. I've always loved him and will always love him," she confessed. "I just am not sure if I am ready to forgive him." In that moment, Alice knew what she had to do. Her heart simply could not love two people, so she would have to cut the strings to one if she had any hope of enduring with the other. "I have to end things with Evan," she said, folding her hands in front of her. "I refuse to hurt him any more than I already have."

Bella could see herself standing in the kitchen, in one of her human memories. The bracelet was hanging loosely from her wrist as she bound the heart shaped diamond to it, hanging next to the tiny wolverine. It was symbolic in so many ways of how her heart was torn. The hot and cold, fire and ice combination, that she knew if she had kept both of them in her heart they would destroy each other and the feelings with them. No one could ever have two people in their hearts, there just wasn’t enough room before it began to break. She loved Jacob at that point, she just didn’t know what that love meant. Bella had a feeling that this was what was happening to Alice. Evan had some sort of function to be in her life, but it wasn’t as her mate. As a loyal friend and someone you can turn to, yes, but the man that would be the one able to handle a fire-cracker like Alice, was always Jasper. The past six months had been a complete shock to Bella, never in her life could she have imagined that Jasper would ever hurt Alice, intentionally or not. Her eyes fluttered upward as Alice confessed her love to Jasper. Bella gave a soft smile as she looked up at her sister. It did not shock Bella to hear this news, but she was glad that Alice was finally taking a step closer in the direction of Jasper. “You don’t have to forgive him yet,” Bella looked back towards the direction of the Cullen mansion and narrowed her eyebrows before she looked back to Alice, “Jasper knows that he has to redeem himself for what he has done, but he is also willing to do that, whatever it takes,”
Bella began to walk slowly back towards the cottage as she looked at Alice, “I know you think that you are hurting Evan, but you’re actually going to be doing him a favor. Giving him a chance to be loved whole-heartedly” Bella crossed her arms as she walked, wrapping her hands around the outer of her arms. She took in a deep breath, catching the scents of several small animals around the forest. Bella looked at the trees of the forest and narrowed her eyebrows, the pain of Edward’s departure whipping against her heart. It was so strange to her now, to be able to navigate herself wherever she pleased, yet when she was human she had been discovered by Sam in their search for her after Edward had left her crushed and abandoned on the forest floor. “ The pain never really goes away,” Bella turned back to Alice, “ I mean, eventually it gets easier. You don’t feel it constantly, but when something reminds you, it’s just as fresh as the day it happened,” Bella looked back towards the forest, knowing that it was the vice that often reminded her of that day, “ But once you trust him again, that he isn’t going anywhere, it’s a joy like no other. It makes you feel like you have a stronger connection,” Bella smiled as she looked back to Alice, “I am so happy that you are being honest with yourself,” Bella stopped walking as she turned back to Alice, “ This is only the first step, but I want you to know that I will help you through whatever you need. “
Bella began to take a few steps slowly back towards the Cullen mansion. Everything had been so chaotic with the couples that she was sure would never part. Alice and Jasper had spent that last six months separate, Rosalie and Emmett definitely had their own issues that were to be dealt with. She couldn’t help but feel like at some point, she and Edward might face the same fate; though not at her attempts to keep everything together. She hoped that they had been through enough together, that watching the other relationships around them would help them in being able to remain committed to one another and to never lose sight of the love that they held for each other. A small anxious feeling fluttered over Bella before she turned her attention back to Alice, “You don’t even have to tell Jasper right away how you feel. Take your time, get your thoughts together, see that he will be the man that you need him to be,” Bella felt overjoyed with the fact that her family was slowly mending itself back together. It had felt like they weren’t even themselves for the longest time, and with everything fitting back into place, like pieces to a puzzle, she felt herself feeling whole again. She always had Edward, but the attitude and actions of everyone in their family had altered over the last months, and she was looking forward to the craziness and happiness to settle back into place. It was something she needed. There was so much going on around their family at the time, that it hardly seemed possible that everything hadn’t fallen apart by now. She was truly amazed by the inner strength of each and every one of her family members that had led them to be able to withstand going through everything, without having the complete support of one another.

Alice mind was once again consumed with memories of her former life with Jasper, before everything got so messed up. One thing she missed the most was sitting under the stars with him at night. In the dim light of the moon and stars, their skin was luminescent and perfect. Even Jasper's scars from his earliest days were beautiful to her. They would sit out there for hours and just talk about everything and anything. He knew her every mood like the back of his hand and she, his future. Edward had once said it was almost like they could read minds, only each others'. Those were the happiest time in her existence. Nothing then could have prepared her for the life she now was living or for the choice she would have to make. She knew that by breaking things off with Evan, it would mean hurting him to save him. Bella had even made that apparent as they continued their conversation in the forest.
Taking a few steps, she thought of how she was going to break Evan's heart. It was not going to be easy; these things never were on either end. Outside of Bella, Evan was literally Alice's best friend. When she had escaped to England after the Crystal situation had gotten out of hand with Jasper, Evan had been the one to cheer her up and convince her that she should return home to her family. When her return turned out to be a disaster after learning what Jasper had done, Evan had pieced her back together and loved her, despite the turmoil of everything around them. Their hearts had been melded together out of tragedy and Alice knew that he deserved better. He was far too good-hearted to be put through loving a woman who's heart already belonged to someone else. Taking a few more steps to keep pace with Bella, Alice stared at the ground and to her black ballet flats. She thought of what she was going to say to Evan. She knew that he would need space and time before they would be able to speak again, which she understood. But she hoped that he would understand that she did not wish to lead him on.
The closer they got to the mansion, Alice felt her stomach drop a little and her heart beginning to ache. She knew that if they went back now, Edward would hear everything they had just discussed in her mind and know all that was in her heart. Alice did not want a soul, outside of Bella, to know how she felt right then. It was bad enough that Edward knew her part in bringing Jasper home from Florida, but if he knew the depth of her feelings for Jasper, it just would not be something she wanted him to know. Telling Bella was not a problem as Edward could not read her mind, but she could only keep him at bay for so long translating songs into other languages or thinking about trivial things. Stopping a few hundred yards from the mansion, Alice turned to her sister. "Bella, I think that I need to be alone for a little while," she said, folding her arms across her chest. "I have to pull myself together before I end things with Evan and even begin to sort through my emotions for Jasper." Alice knew that Bella would understand her need for alone time to get things together. "Plus, I really do not want Edward to hear everything I have just told you. And since he cannot hear your thoughts, it is perfect."

It had been an exhausting night for Renesmee. Alicia had been up half the night, not wanting to go to sleep at all. Renesmee had tried absolutely everything in the book to get her daughter to go to sleep, but nothing worked at all. Around sunrise however, Alicia finally crashed and so did Renesmee. Being a new mother was settling in and Renesmee loved her daughter with all of her heart, but she was somewhat exhausted. A few short hours later, she woke to the screams of a hungry Alicia. Sighing deeply, she got out of her bed and went to tend to her daughter. Bringing Alicia back over to the bed with her, she set a pillow in her lap and laid the baby across so that she could feed her. Once Alicia was situated and eating, Renesmee was much more relaxed.
A little while later, just after she had laid Alicia back down in her crib, Renesmee's phone went off. It was an urgent text message from Rosalie. Taking a deep breath, Renesmee put her phone down and went to quickly shower and get dressed. Once she was ready, she grabbed Alicia from her crib, dressed the sleepy little one and wrapped her in a blanket before heading up to the mansion. When she arrived, her father, Uncle Emmett, and grandparents were there...but Rosalie, her mother, and Aunt Alice were no where in sight. Their scents were still lingering, along with another she had not smelt in half a year. Walking in, she held her daughter close and looked around. "Would someone mind telling me what's going on?" she asked. "I got a text message from Aunt Rose, but she isn't here. I'm a little confused."

Edward knew that Nessie was on her way before she come in. He knew that she was going to want answers to want was going on. When she came through the door and started asking questions, he waited for her to finish and then he started to answer them. "Rose and Jasper have already left to track down Lexie and get the twins back, though I don't think that Lexie will survive Rose. She was thinking very bad things when they left here. Your Uncle Jasper has come home and that is a story into it's self as to what happened in Florida. Bella and Alice are outside in the forest talking." Edward said to his daughter trying to explain every thing to her. He knew that she was the one that they were concerned with welcoming Jasper home.

Bella looked into Alice’s eyes and gave a small nod. She understood exactly where Alice was coming from when it came to needing to be alone. “Alright,” She spoke quietly as she reached over to hug her sister. It pained her to see her sister in this much distress. Bella closed her eyes, wrapping her arms tightly around Alice as she spoke to her, “ You know that whenever you need me, I will be here,” Bella leaned away from Alice and gave a soft smile. She took in a deep breath and another small nod before she squeezed Alice’s hand tightly and made her turn to head back to the Cullen mansion. Bella hit a pace that was more than humanly possible, yet not her fastest stride either. She pushed her feet against the ground, attempting to collect her thoughts before she re-entered the home. Though it was extremely convenient that Edward could not hear her thoughts, he was more than capable of reading her expressions and knowing when something was on her mind.
Bella stood in the doorway for a moment as she took in a deep breath, taking in the scents of her daughter and granddaughter that had recently arrived, and that comforted her slightly. Once Bella felt confident that Edward wouldn’t think twice of what had happened with Alice she opened the door quietly and made her way into the home. She smiled warmly at Renesmee as she kissed her cheek, “ I’m so glad you made it,” She looked up to Edward, assuming that he had filled her in on everything and then bent down to look over Alicia before she took her place by her husband. Bella stood on her toes to kiss his cheek before she took his hand in hers, “Is there any news?” She looked around to the rest of the members in her family. It was almost guaranteed that Lexie would not survive whatever wrath Rose would be experiencing, yet the time was making Bella a bit anxious. Now that Jasper had returned, she was looking forward to their family being together again, and was hoping that the day would get here sooner than later.

Edward watched as Bella entered the house and went to Nessie and Alicia. When she came to his side, he kissed her back and took her hand. When she asked about any news, he just smiled. "We have not heard anything yet, but they have only been gone a couple of hours. I don't expect to hear from them for a couple of days." Edward said the her. He knew that this was the first time that she had to deal with members of the family being gone on missions that would take a while. He wanted them back home to but knew that they would not come but until they had done what they left to do. Edward knew that Rose would not stop until Lexie was found and the twins were safe.

Renesmee could not believe the words that were coming out of her father's mouth. Her Uncle Jasper had been gone for half a year and was now home. Out of all the things in the world, she was not expecting this at all. Her uncle had left the family, leaving only a single note that nearly pushed her into an early labor with her daughter and now he was suddenly home. And everyone was acting like it was suddenly alright. Renesmee did not understand, nor did she have time to understand as her mother came in almost immediately. She smiled faintly as her mother kissed her cheek and paused to look over Alicia affectionately before turning to her father and asking for news.
Holding onto her daughter, Renesmee walked over to the couch and sat down to process everything that had just happened. A huge sigh escaped her lips as she looked to her sleeping child in her arms, thinking about almost losing her because of Jasper's thoughtlessness in leaving. She had tried to help him when things were falling apart with Alice beforehand, but he had only succeeded in pushing her away too. As she sat there, she became absorbed in her own thoughts and feelings, then thinking of Alice's as well. Her aunt had bore the brunt of all the emotional backlash of Jasper's crimes. Thinking on that, she let her mind wander and not pay attention to all that was going on around her.

Edward watched Nessie as she went to the couch to sit down with Alicia. He knew that she was thinking about everything that happened when Jasper left. He knew that he need to tell her what he knew. Edward walked over to the couch can and sat on the table in front of it, so that he could look at her. "Nessie, Jasper only meant to be gone for a week or two, but something happened. He went to Florida to see the doctor's and well they held him hostage and refused to let him leave. When Alice found out she went to Florida and rescued him. Alice is the one that brought Jasper back home." Edward said to her. He knew that if she knew that Alice was involved in Jasper's home coming, it would help her accept him easier.

Renesmee sat entirely still as her father came over to speak with her. Alicia was fast asleep in her arms, so she was not worried about disturbing her sleep as she listened to her father. She was surprised by the words that were coming out of his mouth. As much as she knew he was right, she still could not bring herself to want to accept Jasper back into the family...just yet. Even when she heard that Alice herself had been the one to bring him home from Florida, she was still distressed over the fact that he had left at all. Rendered wordless, Renesmee did the only thing she knew she could do to get her point across. Shifting Alicia into her left arm, she reached out and put her right hand to her father's cheek. In one swift moment, she swept back into her memories to one in particular. It had been when she had tried to help Jasper reconsile with Alice after he had doubted her intuition about Crystal. He had yelled at her and immediately hurt her feelings when she had only been trying to help. That memory blurred into the next; when they had found the letters explaining he was leaving. The scene displayed was of Renesmee almost going into early labor with Alicia and needing Alice to calm her down.
Removing her hand and ending the memories, Renesmee looked down to her sleeping child silently. I almost lost my baby because he left, she quietly thought, keeping her eyes on Alicia in her arms. Now that she was a mother, Renesmee knew that everything she did was because of her daughter or put her daughter above everything else. Now she understood why her parents did all that they did when she was young. I don't know if I am ready to face the one person in my family who has hurt me the way he has. Looking back at her father, she hoped that he would understand by what she had shown him and thought in her mind. Glancing away, she looked over to her mother. For the first time, she understood everything her mother ever did when she was younger. Becoming a mother changed her perspective on everything.

Edward watched the memories in his mind as Renesmee showed them to him. Edward understood all to well the feelings that she had. Jasper had hurt her, but he was going through a very rough time then. When Edward heard Renesmee's thoughts, he nodded to her. "Nessie, I know that he hurt you. But he was hurting himself. Jasper is not the same anymore. Being held the way that he was changed him. You might find that he is more appreciative of his family now. Jasper does not take anything for granted now. He needs us as much as we need him." Edward said to her in a hushed tone.

Renesmee shook her head and thought I just can't face him. I'm not ready to. Looking from her father to her daughter, she thought of how important Alicia was to her. There was no one else in the world who had more attention doted on her. Renesmee loved and adored her daughter, so keeping her safe was her main priority. In her mind, Jasper only brought danger to her child because of his willingness to abandon the family at their greatest need. Staring at her sleeping child, Renesmee tried not to be overcome with anger. Throughout the majority of the last six months, she had spent most of her time pregnant and caring for a newborn baby. That time should have been a time of joy, but instead it was spent watching her family fall apart. Rosalie was rarely home and she hardly ever saw Alice. Even her parents were stressed by how much was going on. The only person she knew she could depend on to not suddenly disappear was Jacob. He had kept her happy and sane while she was pregnant, while the rest of the world seemingly fell apart. And in that moment, she wondered where he was right then.

Edward listened to his daughter's thoughts. He knew that she was still holding a grudge and that she did not want to see Jasper. However, he also knew that it was not Jasper's fault that he was gone so long. "Nessie, Jasper left to get the help that he needed, so that he could control himself and not black out. He only meant to be gone for a couple of weeks. He was taken hostage, but the doctor's though and experimented on. Jasper, is not the same as when he left, he has changed." Edward stopped and thought about everything that he heard in Jasper's mind, before they left. "Renesmee, it is not like you to hold a grudge against an other member of the family. Besides, we are all free to come and go as we please. Did we not leave the family for some thirty years to live in England?" Edward side in a calm tone to his daughter. He knew that she was hurt by Jasper's sudden disappearance, but that was Jasper's right to leave. Edward realized that for the first time as he was talking to Nessie.

Bella watched the interaction between Nessie and Edward. Though to this day, she found the way that they were able to speak to each other to be extremely beautiful and something that was nothing less than amazing, she had certainly learned to read between the lines. She narrowed her eyebrows as Nessie shook her head and looked back to Edward. Bella placed her hands together as she looked down at Nessie, attempting to best phrase what she was going to say. “Nessie, I know that you are hurt by what Jasper did. But the truth of the matter is, you are a new mother. You of all people should understand the importance of family. Jasper is our family, and not just because of Alice. He is our family because of the ties that we have with him, and he will continue to be our family no matter what happens between him and Alice.,” She clenched her jaws tightly as she looked down at her daughter, “ I know what the love for a child can do to a person, how your love for Alicia is clouding your sight right now. Jasper does not need your approval or acceptance to be here, so you might as well just learn to be more open about it and realize that he would never dream of doing anything to harm Alicia, ever. We can not know or understand everything that happened to Jasper, it is narrow minded to think that his love for this family would evaporate and that he would do something to geniunely hurt anyone. Try putting yourself in his situation, Nessie. Whatever decision he would have had to make, would have been a difficult one and he would have looked like the bad guy, no matter what he had done.” Bella took a few steps to stand beside Edward as she looked down at Nessie, “I know that you are scared, and that you are still hurt, but can you imagine how Jasper is feeling for just a moment? Think of someone besides yourself, your daughter and your husband. Jasper is fully aware of how we all feel about the situation, and is committed to correcting his mistakes. But frankly, he had every right to be able to leave and walk away. Life happens. Any other event could have caused a disturbance to upset you, and place an early labor with Alicia,” Bella held in her breath as she squared her shoulders and looked down at her, “I love you Nessie, but do not let this situation allow you to become self-centered. You are not looking at the big picture. You need to talk to Jasper, and you need to do it with an open heart. You are his family, and he is yours. You have no idea the pain he is feeling for making you feel as though he abandoned you. But in reality, the only ties he has are to Alice. She was the one that was abandoned. We all were to an extent, but we are all bound together differently than Alice and Jasper,” Bella shook her head slowly as she looked down at the ground. Jasper’s disappearance had created so much conflict in her family, but she was determined that she wasn’t going to let it change who they were.
