"Jasper, you were not there when she said something to your daughter," Bella explained. "The only reason she snapped at Rosie was for her talking to me and Nessie through our minds, which was perfectly safe. Nothing else provoked her before then." Walking over to the couch in the center of the living room, she sat down slowly and looked back at her brother. "While I know how Lexie gets, it still was not right of her to snap at a child like that, regardless of what she was doing. And then there were the looks she gave to my own daughter, your niece, just because Lexie realized that Renesmee is expecting her own child soon." She looked Jasper in the eyes earnestly, searching for the once sympathetic brother that she used to have, trying desperately to find him. "Bet you didn't know that Nessie was pregnant, did you?"

Jasper didn't know that Renesmee was pregnant. "No didn't. But that's really beside the point," he said, still trying to keep his voice in a reasonable, charismatic, fashion. "It's quite common for mothers to snap at their child, even when they're young. I'm sure you had a few slip ups with Renesmee. Now, please. Let's just put this behind us and bring Rosie to me. I'm asking you as nicely as I can. Please, don't make me regret it. I know you mean well Bella, but there are some things you won't understand." |

Bella sighed deeply, shaking her head. "I never once snapped at my daughter like that Jasper," she said softly. "But I also understood that my daughter was unique and that her powers needed to be encouraged for her to grow healthy and happy." Looking back at her brother, she folded her hands in her lap. "Jasper, I will bring Rosie to you on one condition," she said quietly, looking at her hands and then back to Jasper. "You have to swear to me that you will not let Lexie hurt her. I promise you that if I hear about it, I will come unglued on all sorts of levels. I am her godmother and a mother of a child myself, so you know how I will react."

"I told you once, I will not let her near Rosie until she is calm. And she's never physically abused her and I don't think she implies that she is going to start now." Jasper laced his fingers together, letting his arms hang down infront of him, waiting patiently for Bella to retrieve his daughter. |

Bella got up from the couch and walked toward her brother. "Jasper, when you become a parent, there are obligations that you have to fulfill. Abuse comes in more than one form Jazz and Lexie is wielding her power as Rosie's mother to keep her from being herself," she explained calmly and evenly. "That is emotional abuse." Leaving him to think on that, Bella walked out of the mansion and down to the cottage where Renesmee was entertaining Rosie. When she walked in, she went over and knelt to Rosie's level to talk to her. "Rosie sweetie, your daddy is here. If you want to go with him, you can. But, if you are still scared and want to stay with me, that's okay too. I won't let anything happen to you. I promised and I want to stand by that promise," she said softly.
