Vanessa smiled as Lucy mentioned something about him asking her to dance later or something. She wasn't so sure. There were alot prettier people around, like Lucy and Katelyn...wherever she was. “Okay come on Vanessa you can finish your drink later. I can’t stand that pitiful look on your face.” She frowned. She couldn't dance without making a fool of herself and next to Lucy, she would look like a fool. "No, really Lucy, Im not much of a dancer..."
She looked over as Lucy stood up and said “Let’s go dance, and wait for hunks to cut in. Come on it'll be fun." She sighed. She always got suckered into this kind of thing and it was the exact thing she tried to avoid. "Fine.. I can't believe you are getting me to do this..." She smiled and stood up walking over to were everyone was dancing.

Lucy laughed again when she saw the look on Vanessa’s face after she had been called pitiful. “I was just kidding Vanessa you just look like you wanna dance.” Vanessa started protesting to going out on the dance floor claiming she wasn’t much of a dancer. Lucy waved her free hand making a ‘yeah right’ face, “Oh you’ll be fine I’ve been dancing since I was five, I’ll make sure you don’t screw up too bad.”
Lucy watched as Vanessa seemed to begin to crumble and she couldn’t help her grin from growing knowing that she was probably not far from getting her way. "Fine.. I can't believe you are getting me to do this…” Lucy laughed and pulled Vanessa towards the dance floor where an upbeat fun song had just started. “Come on it’ll be fun I promise.”

Nathaniel returned Bella’s smile when she turned to see him. She seemed to relax slightly and said that the honor to dance would be hers. Nathaniel watched as Bella seemed to tense slightly as the song changed to a western song and he bit back a grin that wanted to split his face at her expense. Normally since Bella was married he would have asked for Edward’s permission, but he couldn’t tell if Edward was anywhere close by, and times had changed. That was something that Nathaniel was slowly coming around to realize the time that he was in and he could only assume that Edward would not take offense for Nate dancing with his wife. Nathaniel laughed when Bella spoke, “I apologize to your feet in advance,”
Bella smiled and hopefully realized that there was probably very little that she could do to actually hurt him. Nate however realized the right thing to do would be to offer some sort of comfort, and he knew the truth would be of some help. “The advanced warning is appreciated Bella, but a little unnecessary. I was raised to believe that the man should lead the woman. So as the leader it is my job to make sure that you dance well and feel comfortable.” Bella slipped an arm around his neck and he placed one hand at Bella’s waist and took her other hand into his as he led her onto the dance floor. Nathaniel smiled again, “So if my feet are stepped on then the blame will lay entirely with me.”

Bella laughed as he spoke, comforted by his words. “It isn’t a matter of if your feet will be stepped on, I can almost guarantee it,” She couldn’t help but smile as Nathaniel led them to the dance floor. She looked down at her feet, biting her bottom lip nervously as she looked back up at him with a nervous laugher. Bella smiled, realizing just exactly how happy she was that she had decided to come out today and to leave the exhausting and daunting drama that their lifestyle had at home. She tightened her grip around Nathaniel’s hand as she tried to listen for the rhythm of the music. Though her hearing was perfect, being able to hear a pin drop across a field, and becoming a vampire had certainly allowed her to become more graceful, dancing was not something that she seemed to be improving on. She looked up at Nathaniel, knowing very well that if she was human her cheeks would have been flushed by now with the embarrassment of her awful dancing skills. Bella looked away from him for a moment, glancing over the other women around them before she looked back up at him with a smile, “Now why would you want to waste your time with an old married woman like me?” She raised her eyebrow playfully as she looked back up at him, “ There’s a good possibility that if you asked any other girl here to dance, that you may render them speechless,” Bella smiled as she did her best to dance to the music, but was clearly frustrated at her inability to dance well. Bella appreciated everything Nathaniel had done for her family, she knew that she would never be able to thank him enough. He seemed perfectly content in living his life as a bachelor, and she wasn’t trying to insinuate that he should do anything but precisely that, but she couldn’t help but feel like he deserved someone to spend the rest of his existence with.

Looking around at all the vastly decorated booths and the canopy of lights on the dance floor, Alice could feel the excitement in the air. This was the first party she had been to in a while and granted, she wasn't throwing it, but it was still nice to have that euphoric feeling of just having a good time. Walking into the town square, Alice quickly judged that she was vastly overdressed for the occasion, but she didn't care. People expected her to overdress for everything anyways, so she proudly walked in wearing her teal summer dress, silver heels, family crest choker, and carrying her silver clutch. Part of her intense finesse and charm was that she was confident in everything she did and wore. A genuine smile spread across her face as she watched all the humans scurry about from booth to booth to get their food and other various items. They were all very unaware of the vampires that wandered in and around them, which was exactly how it was supposed to be. Stepping out to the dance floor, Alice saw her beloved sister Bella dancing with their family friend Nathaniel. Seeing Bella dance at all brought Alice enjoyment because she recalled the days when Bella was a human and detested any sort of dance at all. As she took it all in, a sense of happiness settled in her soul. This was how life was meant to be. Alice's Outfit: www.polyvore.com/alice_party/set?id=10970913

Nathaniel smiled when Bella claimed that stepping on his foot would only be a matter of time. He patiently waited as Bella looked down at her feet; she bit her bottom lip and Nate figured that it was a matter of habit when she was nervous. His suspicions where confirmed when a nervous laugh escaped Bella as she looked back up at him. Bella seemed to relax more and she took a tighter grip of his hand. Nathaniel quickly picked up on the beat and the slightly up beat of the song and he began to calmly lead Bella around the dance floor. He laughed when he heard Bella ask, “Now why would you want to waste your time with an old married woman like me?” Nathaniel smiled as he answered her joking question, “Well I do not know if you remember Bella, but I am just a few years older then anyone in your family.” The truth was Nathaniel was over four hundred years old which meant that he was more than double any of the Cullen’s age.
Nate wondered whether or not Bella meant something else by what she had said and a few seconds later Bella added, “There’s a good possibility that if you asked any other girl here to dance, that you may render them speechless.” Nathaniel politely smiled to Bella as he continued to lead her around the dance floor. It almost seemed as if Bella was trying to figure out why he had been single for his life. Her interest seemed to be completely innocent and he could not deny that in her shoes Nathaniel would have felt any different.
Nathaniel smiled and spun Bella away from him before carefully pulling her back and putting his hand back onto her waist. “As I am certain you are aware of with your experience in this life, it is nothing if but hectic.” Nathaniel chuckled as he thought of all of the trouble that had been stirred up recently, and how the party of Forks signaled that a smoother road laid ahead. Will and Crystal would never return and there seemed to be no immediate danger for the residents of Forks. Nathaniel smiled to Bella, “And as it is I do not believe there are many of my type here.”

Bella giggled as Nathaniel mentioned that he was a few years older than the rest of the members of her family. Had anyone else been listening to their conversation, she was sure that they would have sounded mad, or that they had gone senile. She nodded as she looked back down at the ground, a smile forming across her lips. She looked back into his eyes as he seemed to be considering what she had said to him, and she hoped that she had not offended him. Bella opened her mouth to say something when she felt herself being spinned outward. A soft laugh came from her lips as he pulled her back in, and she raised her eyebrows, slightly impressed by his ability to make even her an acceptable dancer. She placed her hand back over his neck as she took hold of his hand and looked back up at him with a smile. “Hectic? I’m not quite sure I know what you’re talking about,” Bella smiled sweetly as she looked up at him. She looked over his shoulder, pleased to see that Alice had arrived and took a deep breath, reminding herself that she was around humans. She looked up at Nathaniel, wondering for a small moment how the human girls must see him. Considering the depth of the beauty and people around her, Nathaniel was an extremely handsome man. To a human, she could only imagine it must have appeared as though he had just walked off a movie set. She raised her eyebrow as he mentioned that no one of his type was there. She could only assume that he was approaching how that all of the other women were humans, and that his type was more of the…immortal. The thought made her realize what she had seen in the shadows earlier and she instinctively looked back towards the trees, but frowned not seeing the girl standing there anymore. She licked her lips before she looked back up at Nathaniel, “Okay Nathaniel, what is your type?” She looked back at him, finally feeling more comfortable with the footwork that went along with the dance.

“I was just kidding Vanessa you just look like you wanna dance.” Vanessa smiled. She knew she did look pitiful probably. She really wished she could dance, wished she had stuck it out, but she didn't so... "I know, its just..Im not a good dancer. I tried lessons when I was younger but I was in my tomboy stage so I didn't pay much attention." Vanessa followed Lucy towards the dance floor grateful that there was one song on she could actually dance to. She started dancing, or in her case not really dancing more just the hip sway move. But, as she got more into it, she found herself letting loose and just having fun, and she wasn't that bad.
She found herself sort of zoning out as she danced. Although she usually thought she just plain sucked, when she was at home she would find herself listening to music, mostly Mozart and orchestra and doing a few moves she did remember from her ballerina days. But now, she had to pull out the more hip hop moves.

Nathaniel smiled with Bella’s laugh as he spun her. He grinned saying, “See now? You are quite an accomplished dancer.” Nathaniel had a feeling he had read her thoughts at that moment as her eye brows arched slightly in surprise. Nathaniel and Bella settled back into the regular rhythm of the song. Nathaniel smiled and laughed as Bella smiled almost innocently as she said, “Hectic? I’m not quite sure I know what you’re talking about.”[/i] He did not bother turning as Bella looked over his shoulder at someone that was behind them. Nate knew that it was most likely someone else from the Cullen Coven. After taking in a light breath Nathaniel did not smell anyone that seemed familiar. He focused back on the dancing, “No I suppose you would not understand how hectic life can be.”
Nathaniel laughed lightly and knew the irony was that Bella may have known more than most of their kind how hard the lives of their kind actually was. They danced in silence for several moments when after his comment about his type Bella seemed to understand what he had meant. He thought about spinning Bella again but she seemed to be settling into dancing and having a good time. Nathaniel was glad that Bella seemed to be enjoying her time and Nate was glad of that.
Bella was fairly young in Nathaniel’s eyes and even though she was no longer exactly human, Bella did not deserve the life she had already gone through. No one in the Cullen family deserved the problems that they had received, they were good people that deserved a far simpler life. Nathaniel was brought from his reminiscing when Bella asked what his type was. That was something Nathaniel had never put a whole hearted thought into. It was ironic to him that as long he had been a vampire that he had never given much thought to finding a mate.
Nate realized though deep down that if he took too much time to reflect on that he would find how depressing it was to go through four hundred and forty years of living alone. Instead of reflecting that fact or allowing Bella to see too much of what pain it could cause Nathaniel put on a light smile, “I will be sure to inform you when I know the answer myself.”

Bella scrunched her nose as Nathaniel called her an accomplished dancer. “I think it just depends who is leading the dance,” Bella admitted ashamedly. She fell into a comfortable rhythm of dancing with him as she watched the townspeople around her all in good spirits. Even though she had only been there momentarily, being around people who weren’t being weighed down by drama, was uplifting in itself. It amazed her what a smile on a stranger could do, let alone a smile on a very talented dance partner. She laughed dryly as he made his sarcastic remark about her not being able to understand how hectic their lifestyle was. She may have been centuries younger than Nathaniel, but she felt as though she had lived enough during her existence to exceed multiple different lifetimes. She looked back up at him, wondering what different journeys he had gone through in his many years, what sorts of struggles he must have faced and suddenly felt incredibly young and immature in dancing with him.
She felt herself slow down in rhythm as she lost herself in thought. Nathaniel had been alive for so many years, that she couldn’t imagine the pain he must’ve felt to be so alone. Then again, since she was never in his position, with his beliefs and lifestyle, she didn’t want to put in his mouth the way he was feeling. But from her personal experience, she couldn’t possibly imagine living this life without a mate, someone to lean on and love. A small grin came across her lips as she heard him speak. “ I will be sure to inform you when I know the answer myself,” She scrunched her nose as she shook her head at him playfully, “ Okay I will drop it,” She smiled as she began to feel comfortable dancing, as though she was learning a few of the steps as she went along. There was so much more she wanted to tell him as she looked up at him, yet didn’t want to seem invasive. Instead she placed a smile quickly and looked down, wondering if he would be able to tell through his powers what she was feeling about his situation.

Katelyn walked around to the different booths at the party, picking up a few things to eat and grabbing a lemonade from one of the stands before making her way over to a group of picnic tables. Everyone seemed to be having a great time, so she started to relax and enjoy herself. Under the twinkling lights, she saw the faces of all the happy couples dancing on the dance floor and became a little envious. She knew that once Kenzie and Jon got there, they would be dancing the night away together as would Lucy and Kaleb. Of the trio, she was the only one left that was single. But that was due in part to her lack of a social life inflicted upon her by her parents. A small sigh escaped her lips, but she brushed it aside and continued to eat her food and sip on her lemonade. She wasn't going to let anything ruin her first night out in weeks. Bah...who needs a boyfriend anyways, she thought dryly to herself. They just meddle in your life and make you all loopy. A small giggle escaped her throat as she continued to observe quietly and wonder where her two best friends were now.

Nathaniel smiled as he and Bella danced and she claimed that it depends on whoever led the dance. “Ah but you see this is where I must correct you Bella. When the dance goes well the accomplishment is accredited to the woman.” He laughed a little realizing how out of date he really was, and one of the rare times he felt old. Nathaniel was usually able to brush aside the thought, but this time he allowed more thought into his life. He was four hundred and forty years old, and his life had been packed to the brim with his travels in Europe and the decades that he had spent state side. Something that had been brought to thought recently with all of the discussion of the families, were the faint memories of his own parents. Nathaniel had never brought himself to visit their graves and he knew that was a trip that was long over due.
Once he had settled into a house in Forks then Nate would plan on a trip back to England. He knew that the Cullen family would be more than capable of dealing with anything that could appear. It was not as if the Cullen family did not get by before him. Nathaniel laughed to himself as he realized what he was becoming, he spun Bella out again because she seemed to have found the perfect rhythm with the music. “I do not know if this is an appropriate observation or not Bella but I have come to realize that I may be a bit of a guard for your family.”
Nathaniel chuckled and shook his head as he realized that was part of his hesitation to go back to England. He smiled as Bella made a face when she replied to his comment about finding the right woman. “That is not necessary if you wish to continue speaking then we can. I do not know if it would be much of a conversation however.”

Lacy laughed when Vanessa said again that she wasn’t a good dancer. Vanessa explained that she had taken some lessons when she was young but never got into them. “See that’s awesome, you do have something to go off of.” Lucy said smiling, “Kenzie, Katelyn, and I have taken dancing lessons since we were really little. I’m sure that we could help if you ever want to take up ballet or something else again.”
Lucy laughed adding, “We can get you the hook up.” She smiled as she realized that probably made her sound like a gangster. Lucy didn’t really care she was having a blast and Vanessa seemed to be relaxing and getting into the dancing more. Lucy glanced around for a few moments as she continued to dance along with the beat hoping to find some of her other friends.

Bella laughed as he spoke, “It seems as though I was born in the wrong century. If everything goes wrong, it’s the mans’ fault, and if it happens to be perfect, all of the credit goes to the woman,” Bella smiled sweetly as she looked up at him. She broke into another bright smile as he span her out, and felt more comfortable in returning to him this time as she placed her hand back around his beck. Though she was beginning to feel more comfortable in the dance, it amazed her that she hadn’t even been listening to the music for the past few moments. She looked back up at him as he seemed to be deep in thought, and did her best to not say anything to interrupt his thoughts.
She looked up with a smile as she heard him beginning to speak again and gave a quiet laugh, “It is a very appropriate observation. Nathaniel, I can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done for my family. Having you here has been such a comfort. I don’t think we’ll truly ever be able to pay you back in any way,” She took a few steps closer to him as she danced, giving a small cough, “I know that asking you to stay here, would be inappropriate. You do not owe my family anything, or any sort of protection as a guard dog,” She smirked as she looked up at him, “ But we would welcome your presence for however long you are willing to stay here with us. I would never ask you to do something you aren’t comfortable with,” Bella gave a soft smile, “But this is a party.. We don’t have to talk about that here,” She smiled as she realized what he had said about the conversation about women being a short one, she gave a small nod, “It’s none of my business. Just, don’t be closed to the option of a woman. We tend to spice life up a little bit,” She smiled as her thoughts flashed instantly to Alice and Rosalie, and how they were both such strong fiery women.

Nathaniel chuckled when Bella said that she seemed to have been born in the wrong century. “Well if it is of any comfort, there have been many occasions in my life where I feel as though I still live in my own century. I suppose that would mean that I continue to live in the wrong century.” As they continued to dance Nathaniel noticed that in his previous musings that the song had already changed to another country song, but Bella seemed to be having a lovely time. Bella smiled at him when Nathaniel commented that he had turned into a guard dog of sorts for the Cullen family. She then proceeded to thank him for everything that he had done. Nathaniel smiled as he had before and shook his head, “I was only doing what was right, and I suppose living up to my times and protecting the crown of my people.”
Nathaniel chuckled at the reference he made to the time of his origin when countries were ruled by kings and queens rather then by the presidents and prime ministers. Quickly Nathaniel realized that Bella seemed to be building up to something and then came the comment, “But we would welcome your presence for however long you are willing to stay here with us. I would never ask you to do something you aren’t comfortable with.” A small laugh escaped as he was immediately reminded of his current search for a house. “It would be an honor to remain in Forks, and as a matter of fact it has been my intention to remain here for an extended time.”
Nathaniel nodded as Bella said that they did not need to talk about it right then since they were at a party. He then remembered a message that Ryssa had wished to convey to Bella, “I realize that this is a time for celebration and I apologize for not telling this before, but Ryssa wished for me to tell you something. Ryssa left soon after Crystal was killed and she wished for me to tell you that she would be leaving Forks. She said to apologize that she could not say good bye to you in person, but Ryssa leaves you with well wishes, and the promise that she will come back when she can.” A few seconds later Bella said, “It’s none of my business. Just, don’t be closed to the option of a woman. We tend to spice life up a little bit,” Nathaniel laughed and nodded his head, “You will not receive arguments on that last point.”
Nathaniel realized that the second song that they had been dancing to was coming to an end and on the last note, he dipped Bella back and slowly stood. He smiled at Bella and stepped back holding one of her hands in his and bowed over her hand and lightly kissed her knuckles.
