Things had been turned upside down at the Cullen house, yet again. Evan knew that it was because of Jasper leaving, whether anyone wanted to say it out loud or not. So, in light of that situation, Evan used his connections back home with some private eyes to find Jasper. His sources found him at a private medical facility down in Florida. So, being that Alice was busy with planning their wedding and helping Renesmee prepare for her baby, Evan slipped away for a couple days to go bring Jasper home. He was tired of Jasper not acting like a man for what happened and he intended to make him face that.
When he got into Florida, he headed for a town called Jasper where he found the medical facility in the middle of a forest. There was a call box on the outside, so he pressed the button and said, "My name is Evan Williams and I am looking for Jasper Whitlock, could someone be so kind as to let me in so I can speak with him?" He stood there patiently, waiting for a response.

Dr. Gabrielle Brooks called her colleague over. "Melinda. There's someone here looking for Jasper," she said in her dark British accent. "Should I let him in?"
Dr. Melinda Foster walked over and looked at the monitor. "He said his name was Evan? This must be the fiancee. I don't think Jasper would want him in here."
"I don't know, Mel. We should talk to him first. Make sure he will not upset Jasper. Besides, we're running a test on Jasper right now, so we'll have plenty of time."
Melinda sighed. "Alright. Give him the access code."
Dr. Brooks hit the intercom that transferred outside. "Your access code is 4C581. Please distribute this code into the keypad." She let go of the intercom.
Dr. Foster said, "I'm going to check on Jasper." She walked out of the room.

Evan heard the female voice on the other side and followed her instructions, entering the number on the keypad. He heard a loud clank that unlocked the door to the facility. When the door swung open, he walked inside. There was a long hallway in front of him, completely metal. They sure make you feel right at home here, don't they? he thought sarcastically to himself. As he walked down that hall, he could hear the clicking of his shoes beneath him. The entire place reeked of medical smell, which made Evan cringe. He hated hospitals; always had, even as a kid.
When he got to another door, he knocked lightly and waited for whoever was on the other side to answer. It was only polite to not barge in and Evan was anything but unpolite.

Gabrielle spun around in her chair and stood up, smoothing out her hospital coat. She walked over to the door. Putting in the security code, it slid up. Standing there was "the fiancee". She smiled politely. "'Ello. I'm Dr. Brooks. You'll have to excuse our security measures. We're very secrative, you must understand. Jasper is currently undergoing a test. He'll be a few minutes. Why don't you sit so we can talk comfortably?" Dr. Brooks gestured to the table and chairs on the other side of the room.

Evan smiled politely back at the woman who answered the door. "It's a pleasure to meet your Dr. Brooks," he said, walking in the door. "And I completely understand your security measures, so there is no need to apologize there." Evan knew that anything to do with vampires had to be kept secret because of the risk of exposure to everyone. He took a seat in one of the chairs that Dr. Brooks motioned toward so that he could wait for Jasper. "So, how long have you had this fascility down here in Florida?" he asked, trying to make polite conversation with the doctor while he waited.

Dr. Brooks sat with Evan and when he asked how long they had been there, she laughed. "Oh, we've really lost track of the time in the past few decades. It wasn't until Jasper came to us that we learned that it was 2039." She sighed in thought. "If I had to guess, it would have to be that we've been here ever since the Industrial Revolution. We've been vampires since the early seventeenth century." She crossed her right ankle over her left.

Evan laughed at the thought of time passing for a vampire. "Well, I have only been in this life for a few years, but it seems like a lot longer in perspective," he said. "I can't imagine what I will be like in the next hundred years." The thought of that made Evan laugh inwardly. He was going to be forever nineteen. That thought was sinking in still...even six years after his transformation. But he decided that it was all worth it if he got to spend eternity with the one he loved most. "So, what kind of test are you running on Jasper exactly?" he asked out of curiousity.

Gabrielle was a little resistant to answer Evan's question. However, under the circumstances, he would need to know even if Jasper didn't like him. He could break the new to the family.
"We've run several tests on him. The first one was to see if we could revive his memory. Whether there was enough space there in the brain's membrane to support the lost information. When we got a positive result, we started the revival process. Jasper got his memory back from that night, but when he did he went AWOL. He said those memories were what he didn't want, but in fact he did want them, or else he wouldn't have come to us in the first place. We had to calm him down at that point." Dr. Brooks sighed. "I've seen a lot in my years as a vampire specialist, but I'd never seen anything like that before." She waited to see if Evan had a response before she continued.

Evan sat back and patiently listened to Dr. Brooks explain what they had been doing with Jasper over the last few weeks. He knew on some level that they had probably been doing testing as to why his power reverberated off of Alexandra, but he did not know about the memory revival part. "I see," he said, trailing off for a moment to gather his thoughts. "And what happened after that? I mean, he is still here, so obviously there is more." His curiousity was growing with each new piece of information that he was receiving.

"Well, after we got his memory back we had to find the trigger to Alexandra's roll. Obviously her feeling were there and had rubbed off on him, but not enough to affect him in the way that everyone in your family would like to believe it did. That's not the case."
Dr. Brooks stood up and walked across the room, grabbing a file on Type 5 Ricochets and brought it back to Evan. She handed it to him and sat back down. "Alexandra Swan in a rare Type 5 Ricochet. She affects the vampire like no other level. She makes the vampire black out and gives uncurable amnesia to the situation unless the vampires comes here for revival. Their power is also obscured. If Jasper had been trying to excite Ms. Swan then he would've been calmed down and probably not have done what had happened. However, Jasper was trying to calm down Ms. Swan, therefore exciting himself and overpowering himself in an uncontrollable way." She sighed. "It may seem like a bunch of B.S. to you, but it's proven facts. There are other Type 5's out there. They're just hard to come across."

Evan took the file from Dr. Brooks and scanned through all the information quickly. He believed the doctor that Alexandra was a Ricochet of some sort. The information was all right there in front of him, but that was not why Evan was there. This was about other business he needed to take care of. "I understand that this is what happened to Jasper, but it still does not excuse his actions after the fact," he said calmly, closing the file in front of him. "The way he handled the situation after was not befitting of a gentleman, which is one of the reasons why I am here. When he left the way he did, it devastated his family, particularly his niece Renesmee who looks to be about eight months pregnant with a vampire/shape-shifter child." There were other reasons why Evan was there, but he did not wish to go into them right at that present moment with the doctor.

Dr. Brooks nodded. "I understand that. But I believe you and your fiancee--Jasper's ex-wife--had a lot to do with it as well. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but that's the test we are currently running on him now. We're going into his psyche. Amazing what the mind of a vampire is like."
Dr. Foster returned, holding the results of Jasper's latest test in hand in a manila folder. "He's done, but he's in recovery right now." She smiled politely at Evan. "Hello, I'm Melinda Foster, the head Doctor of this facility."

Evan simply nodded at Dr. Brooks' last comment on Jasper's mindset about Alice and himself. On some level, Evan knew that Jasper was not over Alice and he intended to tell him that it was time to move on when he got the chance to talk to him. Alice was not in love with Jasper anymore and it did him no good to dwell on her the way he was doing.
When the second doctor entered the room, Evan stood up and shook her hand gently. "It's a pleasure to meet you Dr. Foster. I'm Evan Williams."

Dr. Foster shook Evan's hand and opened up Jasper's file. Turning to Dr. Brooks she said, "It's all right here. Frankly, with these results, I don't think Jasper will ever be himself again. There's too much brain damage."
Dr. Brooks took a look at the file results. "Hmm......well I would suppose that you are right." She flipped to another page and read quickly. She slapped it closed and looked up at Evan. "Mr. Williams, I'm going to be quite frank with you. Jasper's lost the will to live. Anymore brain damage and he's going to die. He'll just drive himself mad. Now we have a cure for it but--"
"It's risky," Dr. Foster finished for her colleague.

Evan quietly listened to the exchange between the doctors about Jasper's condition and how he would never be the same again. Then he heard them mention something about a cure and it being risky. His curiousity was peaked again. Even if he didn't like hospitals, Evan was fascinated by anything medical. That was his chosen profession that he wanted to go into before he was changed into a vampire. "What kind of cure are we talking about here?" he asked. "And why is it risky?"
