Veronica texted Bella around eleven a.m. since she was no where to be found around the house.
B-
Olympia. We need to talk and YOU need a break.
Veronica had bought herself a car--a 2008 blue Chevy Malibu--that she absolutely adored, so she drove herself to the city. She rocked out to Womanzier on the way and the many other songs on Britney Spears' Circus album. She drove a little too fast, but luckily did not get a ticket.
Once she got to Olympia she parked at a resturant. She was hungry and--even though Bella didn't eat--she had to grab something. She waited in the car and texted Bella again.
@ Famous Daves. Meet me there?--V Veronica's Outfit

Bella had been working on getting things together for Renesmee's baby shower, which was in a few days. Since she had no clue what the sex of the baby was, she got lots of things in neutral colors, like yellow and green. While she was sorting through some onesies, she got the texts from Veronica and decided that she did need a break. She quickly texted Veronica back, On my way. Putting away the clothes for the baby, she grabbed her bag and got into her car, driving to Olympia in record time...being vampire helped in sensing when cops were nearby.
When she got there, she found Famous Dave's and parked her car next to Veronica's, getting out and walking over to her cousin's car.

Veronica was happy to hear that Bella was on her way and when she saw her park next to her car, Veronica shut the ignition off and got out of the car. "Hey coz. Glad you could join me. Sorry, they don't serve you know what here." She laughed, jokingly. She adjusted her scarf thing so it was more centered and pull her pants up just a bit for they were sliding.

Bella laughed and said, "Oh, I'm used to it now...so it won't be a problem." Suddenly Bella had a flash of memory of her first "date" with Edward at a restaurant where he did not eat. It was almost amusing now that it was coming full circle with her being at a restaurant with her human cousin. As she turned and began to walk into the restaurant, she continued the conversation with her cousin. "So, how have you been doing?"

Veronica laughed at her comment about being used to it. She walked with Bella into the resturant. "Ah, I've been alright. I haven't seen my niece and nephew since they left, so I was thinking of going to see them sometime. And my boyfriend is here, did you know that? Jamie?" She couldn't remember if she'd told Bella or not.

As Bella walked into the restuarant, she listened to her cousin talk about not seeing Rosie and Edmmett since they had left. Bella had seen Alexandra a few days prior and that meeting did not end very well, so she did not see fit to mention it because it would most likely just upset Veronica. So, she immediately went to Veronica mentioning her boyfriend. "Oh, no I didn't know your boyfriend was here. When did he get into Forks?" she asked, pushing aside her thoughts on Alexandra.

So she obviously hasn't told Bella that he was here. "He got her a few days ago. I was so happy to see him. You have no idea." She stopped. "Well, maybe you do. But I was so happy, Bella! Just seeing him again was unbelievable!" The host lead them to a table and gave them menus. Veronica sat down.

Bella followed Veronica and sat down at their table, listening to her chatter about her boyfriend, remembering what it was like during her first few months with Edward, seeing flashes of blurry human memories fade in and out of her mind. "I'm really happy for you that Jamie came to Forks," she said, smiling. "I knew how miserable you were without him and I can really relate to that. Without Edward, I don't even want to think about where I would be." She shuttered at that thought, even though it had happened once before while they were dating. That was something Bella knew she would never have to live through again.
"So," she said, continuing their conversation as Veronica looked at her menu. "You said you wanted to talk when you texted me, what's on your mind?"

The waitor came up and asked Veronica and Bella what they would have. Veronica said, "Oh nothing for my cousin. She's already eaten. She's just here on business with me." She ordered her meal and the waitor walked away.
Veronica looked at Bella. "Hope you don't mind me speaking for you." She cleared her throat. "Anyways,.....I wanted to talk to you about.....well.....where is everything going? I mean, this family is falling apart. I never talk to my sister anymore. You aren't speaking with one of your sisters. It seems like everything started because.....well, us." She was referring to her and Alexandra.

Bella simply nodded when Veronica spoke for her as the waitor came to take their order. She really didn't mind as it saved time anyways. As she listened to Veronica state her concerns, she could not help but feel like Veronica was not getting the entire picture, which she was not because she did not see everything. However, Bella did not take that out on her as it was not her fault. Instead, she gently responded, "I know that it feels like everything is falling apart, believe me I do. Rose and I have set aside our differences, so we are speaking again. As far as your sister goes, I honestly do not know what to tell you right now." She paused for a moment, looking around at the other people in the restaurant. "But know that there are certain things that were set into motion before you and your sister even came to live with us. My sister Alice left because of a traitor named Crystal that she and Jasper did not see eye-to-eye on. As it turns out, she was right about her."
That memory stung like a swarm of angry bees to Bella's heart. Thinking about when Alice left hurt so much because she was not only Bella's sister, but her best friend too. Her leaving had devastated the family in more than one way, but Bella refused to go back to that dark place in her mind. Alice was home now and that is what mattered.

"I know that Alice didn't leave because of Alexandra because she wasn't even around when Lex and I showed up. And I know what Lex was thinking when she saw Jasper for the first time. She was.....dazzled by him. And since Alice wasn't there, she figured he was single. But when she really sat down and thought about it....." Veronica stopped and looked up at the ceiling. She tried to find the right words to say. "She knew that he was Edward's brother and that you were married to Edward and that she was your cousin so they were practically related. I just think she was feeling all depressed because she'd never had a boyfriend before and the first guy she was really attracted to was practically related to her." Veronica took a drink of water that the waitor had brought.

Bella sat back silently, listening to Veronica explain about Alexandra's attraction to Jasper. "I understand that she felt that way, but what I do not understand is why she did not come and talk to me sooner," she said as gently as she could, shaking her head back and forth slightly. "Had she done that, we could have spared the entire drunken night and nothing would have happened." Staring at the table, Bella focused on a specific pattern for a few minutes before looking back at her cousin. So much had happened since her cousins arrived that it was difficult to decide when things really happened and who was responsible. Bella had taken on so much of the brunt of things in the family that she was worn out.

Veronica shrugged. "I don't know what she saw in him in the first place. He's an ass. Everyone sees it. What did Alice see in him in the first place?!" If Bella hadn't known already and couldn't tell now, Veronica did not like Jasper one bit. He was a weird one. No, beyond weird. She was ashamed of her sister for acting like such a fool, but the bond between twins was always the strongest and that's why she stood by her now and forever.

Bella shook her head, "He didn't used to be. When Alice first met him, he was the sweetest Southern gentleman. He always treated Alice with the utmost love and respect." Thinking back on those times made Bella somewhat distressed. Jasper and Alice had been together for so long and had loved one another since the moment they had met in that diner in Philadelphia before Bella had ever even been born into her human life. "When I first met the Cullens, Jasper and Alice's relationship was one of the quirkiest I had ever seen. It was not until I had spent time with them that I really knew the depth of how much they loved one another."

Veronica rolled her eyes. "Well I guess that's vampires for ya. They don't have to act like they love one another because they'll be together for eternity." She shook her head. "I just don't get it. Why would he leave her if he still loved her? He's a hypocrite! A fool!"
