William and Vanessa walked back to his motorcycle and he carefully put his helmet on her head. He had not brought his spare and though he knew how to ride and not get in an accident, William thought it would have been wrong to wear the only helmet. He got onto his bike and as soon as Vanessa got on and settled down he started the motorcycle. Forty minutes later William was parking in the lot of a store in downtown Port Angeles. He had checked the directions before, and normally it took an hour drive. William had also decided to test the speedways, and was able to make it in thirty. While he knew it would give them more time for shopping, William did not want to scare Vanessa.
As he got off of his motorcycle he wondered to himself if Vanessa had ever ridden before. William turned to Vanessa as he pulled off his riding jacket. He grinned slightly and asked, “You okay? Any helmet hair that needs to be covered with a hat?” William then jokingly ran a hand over his own hair which was cut extremely short, so that it was practically impossible for him to get helmet hair.

When Vanessa saw William's motorcycle, she fell in love with it. She had always wanted one, but her mother of course being her, had forbidden it. As William put the helmet on Vanessa, she smiled. This was going to be a fun evening, she could tell. As she sat on the motorcycle, he started it. It kind of scared Vanessa, although she wanted one, she had never ridden one so it was kind of strange. Holding on tightly around William's waist, he drove to Port Angeles.
When they got there, William had turned, asking her “You okay? Any helmet hair that needs to be covered with a hat?” Vanessa smiled, removing the helmet. "Nothing a good shake won't fix." Bending over and flipping her hair so that it was hanging in front of her, she ran a hand through it, and flipped it back up. She had always hated helmet hair when riding her bike, and considering she did it a lot when she was a kid, she had found the perfect way to fix it. The hair shake. Although it was the most common act to girls, it had been new to Vanessa and for a couple weeks, when doing a hair shake, she walked around looking like the bride of frankenstein. However, she had mastered it now.

William grinned as Vanessa took off his helmet smiling, “Nothing a good shake won’t fix.” He laughed as flashbacks came from when he was a child. William’s older sisters always seemed to shake their hair in the same way that Vanessa was at that moment. They had always done it before a date, but William knew that shopping for furniture was not a date. He in fact like most of the male population hated shopping, and would much rather go to one store and just pick out whatever he liked. William’s sisters and even his mother had fought him all of the time over it. Even now that he was on his own he seemed to feel someone mentally yelling at him if he went to just one store.
William held out his hand for his helmet so that Vanessa would not have to lug it around, and he looked around their immediate area for the furniture store he had seen the last time he had been in Port Angeles. William looked back to Vanessa, “Any suggestions where to start first?”

Handing the helmet over to William, Vanessa smiled as he asked if she had any suggestions were to start. "Furniture. Bed and Couch maybe?" Running on more hand quickly through her hair, she set off towards the furniture store down the street. "So, Mr.Tumbleweed, what happened to make you stay in this little town of Forks?" She smiled and turned to him waiting for a response. She was really happy he was staying, but she was just wondering why he stayed, it sounded like he had more fun travelling then staying in one spot.
Smiling she walked into the furniture store and waved to the manager who smiled and waved back. She would have gone over and chat, but was afraid to put William in an uncomfotable position. She had known the manager since she moved to Forks. She often came to the furniture store and helped out for a few extra bucks, and to buy some end tables or anything when her mother found it necessary.Walking over, she saw the couches. "Anything in mind? Any special specific details?" She had wanted to check to make sure. Some people wanted leather, some fabric. It just all depended on their personality.

William nodded when Vanessa suggested for them to look for furniture, a bed and couch first. “I already have a bed; I could actually pick that one out on my own.” He grinned and realized he probably sounded too proud about the simple fact of picking a bed. William however considered it an accomplishment. William kept pace with Vanessa as she headed towards the furniture store, "So, Mr. Tumbleweed, what happened to make you stay in this little town of Forks?" William shrugged as a first response, “I figured I would stick around for a little while and see what this side of the country has to offer before I go back the other way.” Which was true William planned on staying in Forks for awhile, and once he felt like he could go back home, he would plan on making his way back.
As it was William did not see himself ready to face what was left of his family. Forks would suit him just fine for now. They entered the furniture store and William noticed Vanessa wave at one of the store workers. William jokingly elbowed Vanessa and asked with a grin, “Oh going to get me the employee discount?” He grinned and thought for a few moments when she asked if he had anything in mind. William shook his head and shrugged, “Not a damn one.” William laughed and scratched the back of his head looking around at the couch section they were currently in.

Vanessa laughed a little as william said that he had already found a bed. "Well, thats good. One less thing. You should be proud. Not many guys I know can stand shopping. They would probably end up sleeping on the floor.." She smiled remembering some guys from her old school and their jokester attitude. William reminded her of them a lot. Once she realized that William was responding to her questions she turned to him. “I figured I would stick around for a little while and see what this side of the country has to offer before I go back the other way.” She smiled. "Hmmm. What this side of the country has to offer....rain, rain and more rain of course. Um...thats pretty much it..." She tried to think of more things that Forks had to offer, but honestly she could not think of anything. She hadn't really gotten to know it well yet...
She smiled as he asked if she was getting him the employee discount. "To be honest, I probably could. I work here in my down time, you know just for some extra cash.." She was actually proud of her job considering most people her age worked in fast food restuarants and spent their days behind cash registers with screaming children pulling at their mothers hands and yelling what they wanted. She smiled, realizing just how lucky she was. As William said he didn't have anything in mind Vanessa smiled. "Well, then you have a lot of choices to make." She said, steering him away from the section of white couches towards colored couches. "Being that your a guy and all, no offense, but I would stay away from any white or tan couches. You guys tend to be a little messy..." She smirked a little, an image of William on a Sunday watching football popped into her mind.

William grinned as Vanessa seemed impressed by the fact he was able to buy his bed. “Well I am twenty four years old, I would hope that I am old enough to at least get my own bed.” The sad thing was that William knew some guys that would just buy a couch and live off of it because they did not want the hassle of finding a good bed. That was until they would want to bring a girl home, which they could not do due to the lack of a bed. Not that William was the sort to bring home girls on that much of a regular basis. He did have a history with a few girls but William did not consider himself as a player. William laughed when Vanessa joked that all this part of the country had to offer was rain. “Well it also offers the ocean, don’t forget that.”
William added with a small laugh. A few moments later Vanessa said that she probably could get him a discount and he shook his head, “I was just kidding.” Vanessa then made a less then subtle hint that he would mess up any couch that had a liter color. William snorted, “Gee no offense taken.” He then grinned slightly knowing that it in actually was a joke, and he knew stuff would inevitably be spilt on the couch. William did not think of himself as messy but he was then slammed by many childhood memories of making messes galore. He laughed reflectively and added, “You’re probably right about the color.” William grinned as he once again remembered his childhood, and how his parents had progressively moved away from ever buying white t-shirts.

"I would hope so.." She said, as he said that being twenty-four he was old enough. Truth was, with him being a guy you never knew. A guy could be fifty years old and still not able to pick out their own furniture. She continued walking through the section of couches, wondering what he might like, looking at each one carefully. “Well it also offers the ocean, don’t forget that.” She smiled. "To bad its never warm enough to go swimming..." she said sadly, you could go swimming but you would freeze your butt off. “I was just kidding.” Vanessa shook her head. "Just telling 'ya." She said, she had really just been joking, but also trying to start some sort of conversation, so why not brag about her job? “Gee no offense taken.” He said, referring to her recommendation of a colored couch. She smiled as he admitted she was probably right. "I usually am when it comes to these things..." She said, jokingly. Then, flopping down on one regular maroon colored couch she smiled. "What about this one?"

As William followed Vanessa he realized another reason that he was avoiding shopping. A lot of it reminded him of his mother and sister. He was the only boy out of three children, and despite that he was always taken care of. William was used to it being one or both of his older sisters helping him, or even his mother. It wasn’t that he could not shop on his own, but it seemed to make his sisters and mom feel good when they could help the ‘baby’ of the family. William mentally shook his head and scolded himself while wondering why he seemed to think of his mother and sisters so much lately. He heard Vanessa mention that it was never warm enough to go swimming.
“Well maybe once summer comes back around, but you’re probably right anyway.” Vanessa flopped onto a purplish couch and asked what he thought. William turned and flopped on the cushion next to Vanessa. He stretched one of his arms on the back of the couch and rested one on the arm rest, but made a slight face of disapproval, “Its pretty comfortable, but I don’t know if purple is my color.”

She watched as William responded, seeming to come back from his own little dreamland. “Well maybe once summer comes back around, but you’re probably right anyway.” She smiled. "I guess one day next summer I'll have to try it out.." She said, knowing though that it would be freezing cold and that she would probably get sick not long after, but hey, sometimes to have fun you have to take risks. Then, she turned towards him watching his reaction to the couch. “Its pretty comfortable, but I don’t know if purple is my color.” She rolled her eyes and said jokingly: "Its Maroon. Duh." She smiled to show she was joking and stood up. Walking over to a black version of the same couch she plopped down. "Well look at that. Colors come in more then one color." She said, smiling and waving her hand for him to come over.

"I guess one day next summer I'll have to try it out.." William grinned and nodded, “Let me know how that one works out for you.” William had not been to Washington much during his travels but he knew that the weather would be extremely cold. Summer months most likely included with that. He watched as Vanessa rolled her eyes at his response to calling the couch purple. William grinned thinking to himself, ‘That is such a girl answer.’ He meant nothing by that silent thought, only that he had expected for her to say something along those lines, even if Vanessa had been joking. William had just expected it due to his sisters and mother. She got up a few seconds later and went across to a black couch that looked the same as the one he was sitting on.
William got to his feet and plopped down next to Vanessa stretching out much like he had a few moments ago on the purple couch. He looked around slightly and nodded his head, “Works well enough for me.”

“Let me know how that one works out for you.” Chances were, she would probably wouldn't try that. She was to much of a chicken, afraid she would drown. Vanessa watched, grinning a little as he rolled her eyes to his response. Most guys tended to do that when they corrected them on colors. Of course, other guys would probably have some sarcastic response, but Vanessa was okay with the rolling of the eyes, it meant she didn't have to think of some clever comeback. “Works well enough for me.” Wow thats cool. She thought to herself. William seemed that he just wanted to go for something that would be comfortable rather then something manly, or anything specific. But, he seemed he would go for anything comfortable and not purple. He was very easy to shop with. "Great." She said, grabbing the slip out of the tag. "Just take this up to the cashier and you will officially be the owner of a new couch!"

Vanessa did not seem to be terribly bothered by the fact he had just rolled his eyes at her yet again. His family had joked with him that it was something that he needed to work on. William was usually good with the one liners as well but not until it was in response to something that the other person did or said. Vanessa then seemed surprised at the fact that he was able to make a decision about whether or not he wanted the couch. William could feel himself grinning slightly and said, “What? Are guys not allowed to make decisions about stuff like picking a couch? Girls are the ones that take forever to pick out the right purple.” William thought what he had just said was amusing because of his slight reference to the couch color Vanessa had suggested a few moments ago, and his completely joking manner about men and women shopping.
Vanessa handed William a tag from the clear case next to the couch and told him all he would have to do is take it up to the front. William took the slip and got up from the comfortable couch, “Good then I will have something nice and clean to spill stuff on.” He again flashed a grin at Vanessa and made his way to the cashier. William handed the slip to the cashier who took it with a smile, “Hello, did you find everything alright?” William nodded, “Yeah you have quite the little sales lady here.” William turned slightly and put and arm over Vanessa’s shoulder with a grin, “She really knows her purples.”
The cashier frowned slightly in confusion as William had to bite back a laugh. William signed up the couch for delivery and paid for it turning to Vanessa while tucking the receipt into his pocket. “So that didn’t take as long as I thought it would, do you want to go get some ice cream or dinner?” William looked down at his watch, “We still have a couple hours to get back before the carriage turns into a pumpkin.”
(OOC: Sorry for the modding, I can change it if you'd like me to, just let me know. Oh and William is at the party, I don't know if you want them to hang out there or not.)

“What? Are guys not allowed to make decisions about stuff like picking a couch? Girls are the ones that take forever to pick out the right purple.” She smiled. "Hey, it only took me a few minutes in this store to pick out that "purple", which no matter how many times you call it purple, will still be Maroon! And, to be honest if every girl in the world let guys choose the furniture, the world would be massively chaotic." She said, laughing a little. Of course, she didn't mean it. She knew a lot of guys, older men atleast, who picked out their own furniture. Of course, most of the time it was almost blinding it was so horrible, but hey she wasn't about to mention any of that. “Good then I will have something nice and clean to spill stuff on.” She smiled at his reference to her comment about color earlier. "Oh good. Be sure to get it good and stained." She said, shaking her head and rolling her eyes a little. He was so sarcastic. But, she was having fun with him. “Yeah you have quite the little sales lady here. She really knows her purples.” Vanessa blushed a little as he put his arm over her shoulder and looked a little apologeticly at the confused cashier. She laughed though and looked over at William. "Well, i have to with guys like you running around confused. Everyone should know their purples." “So that didn’t take as long as I thought it would, do you want to go get some ice cream or dinner? We still have a couple hours to get back before the carriage turns into a pumpkin.”
She smiled. To be honest, she was starving. "Dinner sounds amazing right now. She said, as her stomach growled a little on perfect timing. (OOC: Its fine! And I posted at the Halloween Party thread)

William grinned as Vanessa once again corrected him on the color of the couch. He hoped his joking was not at all irritating, as he had meant for it to be purely joking. William then laughed when she mentioned the havoc that would be created if men were to choose the furniture, and chuckled as she encouraged him to stain his couch. William nodded and semi-saluted to Vanessa, “Yes m’am.” Vanessa did not seemed to embarrassed when he made a joke about her knowing her purples to the cashier. As they left the store William was glad that the store would deliver, because he did not want to have the trouble of renting a truck.
He turned to Vanessa as he made his offer for dinner or dessert and nodded when she said that dinner would be perfect. William nodded down the street, “Good, I think I remember an Italian place down a couple blocks if that sounds good.”
