Kenzie stood in the doorway of her bedroom, holding her backpack for school and staring in the mirror. Today was the first day of her senior year of high school. The last year of public education before going out into the real world to either go to school more or get into a dance troupe. She hoped for the second rather than the first. As she stood there she also thought about her boyfriend Jon. He was so wonderful to her and there wasn't a moment of the day that she didn't want to spend with him. Since learning the truth about his wolf genes, everything made so much more sense to her about his body temperature and lack of sleep. She decided that she would call him after school to see if he was awake and wanted to hang out with her for a little while.
Heading out the door, she got into her car and drove to Forks High School and sat in the parking lot to wait for her two best friends, Lucy and Katelyn, to get their butts to school. This was going to be the beginning of the best year of their lives because they were seniors now, their dance classes were going to start again, and two out of three of them had a boy in their lives. Kenzie had to admit to herself that Kaleb was perfect for Lucy. Their only mission now was to find a suitable boyfriend for Katelyn. And that was proving to be more difficult than Kenzie would have liked it to have been. Pulling out her phone, she texted Katelyn and Lucy. Hurry your butts up! Classes start in 20!

Katelyn was running late, as per usual. She ran around her room, throwing things in opposite direction in search of her keys. Crap, crap, crap she thought to herself, knowing that if she didn't find them soon, she was going to be late to the first day of her senior year of high school. This was going to be her last year of public education before going to the real world, college, and possibly something more. Katelyn wanted to make the best of it and live it up with her two best friends in the entire world. Lucy and Kenzie were the two people she wanted to share these days with. They would graduate together and start a whole new piece of their lives...perhaps in separate towns. Eventually they would start to get married and have kids...which was a strange thought to Katelyn.
Shaking her head, she spotted her keys on the opposite side of her bed. Diving onto the bed, she grabbed her keys and started running out the door right as she got Kenzie's text message. On my way!" she typed out as she got into her car and sped to school, making it in record time. When she parked next to Kenzie's car, she got out and immediately went to sit in her best friend's car. "Morning sunshine," she piped as she sat in the passenger seat. "Where is Lucy? I thought I was running late..." Laughing, she pulled out her lip gloss and put some on over her already chapped lips. This was the start of a new year.

Lucy laughed to herself as she realized what song was playing in her ipod. It was one song out of the many country songs she had heard with her time spent with Kaleb. A true country song Lucy found herself dancing backwards out the front door. “Have a good day Sweetheart!” called Lucy’s mother. “Thanks Mom!” Lucy continued to dance until she reached her car where she turned off her ipod to listen to her CD’s. After a few short minutes Lucy found herself in the school parking lot, just as she heard her cell phone go off. Lucy parked her car and picked her cell phone out of her cup holder to see it was a message from Kenzie, ‘Hurry your butts up! Classes start in 20!’ Lucy settled with rolling her eyes and getting out of the car and looking around to see if her friend was in the lot. She saw after a few seconds search that Kenzie was actually still sitting in her car.
Lucy figured that Kate probably had not reached school yet since it seemed like Kenzie had texted two people instead of one, and she then looked around for another familiar vechical. Disapointed when she did not find a familiar truck Lucy pulled out her phone and typed a quick message to Kaleb, ‘Hey Cowboy hope you are coming to school today.’ Lucy then put away her phone and skipped over to her friend’s car and tapped on the driver’s side window. She was starting to feel the first day jitters, and she was more than ready to start her last first day at Forks High.

While Kenzie waited for Katelyn and Lucy to arrive, she wondered how this year was going to go. Being a senior was something she had been waiting for since she first started high school. However, she never imagined that she would be in Forks after growing up in Seattle for most of her life. Then again, she never would have dreamed that she would have the amazing boyfriend she had either. Jon was literally her other half. There was no one else in the world she could love more than she loved him. Every moment they were together was like something sent from heaven.
She was pulled out of her thoughts by her passenger door opening and Katelyn plopping down in the seat next to her, telling her good morning and asking where Lucy was. "I'm not sure where she is actually. Maybe she decided to come with Kaleb this morning since they seem to be pretty close now," she replied, pulling down her mirror to check her makeup one more time before they would head inside. Before Katelyn could say anything else, Kenzie jumped as someone tapped on her window. Looking over, she got her answer as to where Lucy was. Opening her door, she calmed her nerves down. "Geez Luce...you sure know how to make an entrance and scare someone!" she said sarcastically, half smiling to make sure her best friend knew she was joking.

Kaleb had been sitting in his truck, in the parking lot of Forks high for quite some time. He watched as Kenzie pulled in and parked down the row from him, and then a few minutes later here came Katelyn. Then, there she was, his girlfriend. He silently got out of his truck and watched as she too parked near the other girls and walked over and tapped on Kenzie's window. He also saw Kenzie jump and turn with a funny expression on her face to see that it was only Lucy.
A light bulb went off above Kaleb's head and a smirk crossed his face, "Here we go again..." He said under his breath as he quietly creeped up behind Lucy. He was hoping to scare not only Lucy, but Kenzie, and possibly Katelyn as well. Just as he neared the car he could hear some inaudible remark from Kenzie and he reached out and grabbed Lucy quickly around the waist, and yelled "Goooood mooooorning Ladieeees."

Lucy noticed Kate sitting in the passenger seat of Kenzie’s car as she had knocked on the window. She grinned knowing the school day would be starting soon and her two best friends would be there to share in the memories. She grinned as she watched Kenzie jump in her seat, ‘Nice not to be the scared one all the time.’ Lucy stepped back a few steps as Kenzie opened her car door, "Geez Luce...you sure know how to make an entrance and scare someone!" Lucy jokingly stuck her tongue out at her friends, “Hey I’m just giving a little payback for all those times you guys have made me jump.” She was feeling particularly goofy and made a face at her friends adding, “Revenge of the Lucy.”
Lucy still did not see Kaleb’s truck in her immediate sight and she knew that it would be soon that classes would start. Lucy sighed, “Hey do you gu--AHH!” Lucy’s question was cut off half way through when someone grabbed her around the waist. Her arms went instinctively flying in the air as she jumped slightly. Lucy settled back down after a moment and turned to see who had scared the wits out of her. “Kaleb!” Lucy exclaimed at the same time as she relaxed that it was not a stranger. She turned back to her two friends after shooting a mock glare at Kaleb. Lucy put her hands over Kaleb’s, “So um now that we’ve had the scare party, do you guys want to go to class?”

Kenzie knew that this was just the typical banter between herself and her friends, something they had always done since they were kids. She could recall the three of them sitting together before and after dance practices, cutting up and playing around in the dance halls. They would run around and pretend to create huge dances and make it seem like they were in front of a grand audience. It was just part of their lives together as friends. Kenzie even laughed as Lucy spouted off with "Revenge of the Lucy" as her explaination. A few moments later, she saw Kaleb walking up behind Lucy and couldn't help but smile as she knew what was coming.
As he grabbed her, Kenzie couldn't help but laugh out loud again. That was payback enough for her as Lucy jumped and turned around to see it was him. After she settled down from laughing, she waved at him and said, "Good morning to you too Kaleb. Long time no see." In her mind, Kenzie thought back to the lunch she had with Lucy and Kaleb at the diner during the summer. In fact, that had been the last time she had seen him after school let out for the holiday. She had spent so much time with Jon that she had lost track of who else she had seen the entire time, but she was greatful for her time with her boyfriend.

Katelyn jumped about the same time Kenzie did as Lucy tapped on the window. She knew Lucy always had to make an entrance somehow. However, she saw Kaleb sneaking up behind her not even two minutes later and didn't say one word. Karma bites you in the ass... she laughed to herself as Kaleb scared the daylights out of Lucy by just grabbing her from behind. She laughed out loud and picked up her backpack, getting out of Kenzie's car and slinging it onto her back as she looked over at Kaleb. "Morning," she greeted after Kenzie. "That's definitely one way to start the year off right..." Her giggle filled the air and she shut Kenzie's car door.
As she walked around to the driver's side of Kenzie's car, she pulled out her schedule to see what class she had first. Luckily it wasn't anything terribly unbearable. "Alright...who has first period English with me?" she asked out loud and hoped that at least one of her friends was in the class with her. Not having a friend in class was miserable, especially in a school this small where it was highly likely they would be in your class anyways. "I have it in room 111 with Mrs. Alderidge," she added at the end, tossing her long blonde hair over her shoulder and out of the way.

Kaleb's warm laughter rang out as he watched his girlfriend jump after he scared her. Unfortunately, his scare tactic hadn't even phased the other two girls, they did however get about as much enjoyment of Lucy's karma as Kaleb had.
They all finished exchanging greetings and then Katelyn asked who had first period with her. Honestly Kaleb hadn't even looked at his schedule yet, he was surprised that he actually he remembered to print it off and stick it in his notebook. Glancing at the page he sighed and said…"Yes, I do…hopefully it'll be a little more challenging "advanced" class than it was last year, second I have Government…" He looked questioningly at Lucy and then at the other girls wondering if they would all be in the same classes this year or not.

Lucy had noticed a small smile on Kenzie’s face right before Kaleb had scared her, but she didn’t think that it had meant anything. She stuck her tongue out at her friend as Kenzie laughed at her jumping. Kenzie waved to Kaleb and told him good morning. Lucy drummed her fingers as she made a mental note to come up with a way to get back at her friends, and her boyfriend. She tried to clear the look from her face and replace it with an innocent smile. Katelyn got out of Kenzie’s car soon after Kaleb had scared Lucy. "That's definitely one way to start the year off right..."
Lucy grumbled, “Right way my ass.” Lucy listened and rolled her eyes at Katelyn’s giggle as she closed the door to Kenzie’s car. “Oh har har har, scare the jumpy one because that’s so incredibly original.” A few seconds later Kenzie was asking if anyone else had first period English. Lucy stepped away from Kaleb long enough to get her schedule out of her backpack. She looked hers over and shook her head, “Nope, I’ve got French first, I have English right before lunch. Looks like the trio is separate the first part of the day at least.”
Some how Kaleb’s laughter did not bother her nearly as much as when her friends laugh, but she still looked back at him with a mock glare and stuck her tongue out. Lucy turned back to look at her two friends and slipped her hands into Kaleb’s, making sure he knew that she had just been kidding around. Kaleb said that he did have English first period and Lucy made a little face that she was bummed that she did not have class with him. She was looking over her schedule again when she heard Kaleb say that he had Government for second period. Lucy saw that Kaleb was looking to see what the rest of her schedule was, “I’m stuck in second period Government too.”

Kenzie laughed so hard that her sides began to hurt as Kaleb scared the living daylights out of Lucy. "But scaring the jumpy one is so easy!" she said, grinning at her best friend as Katelyn pulled out her schedule and asked about who had English first period. Kenzie grabbed her schedule from her back pocket and looked at it. "Not me," she piped and looked back over at Lucy. "But I do have French with you and then Government...which should be a real kill joy second period." If it was one thing Kenzie disliked most, it was classes she was required to take in order to graduate in May. It made her feel like she was some sort of robot, but those were her own personal prejudices.
"At least I did get two reserved periods this year so I can go home early," she tacked on the end of her thoughts. "Or go other places if I want to." She smiled and immediately thought of her boyfriend Jon. Going to his house in the afternoons was going to be the greatest thing in the world. Since she had seen so little of him lately anyways, she figured they would make up for lost time during the school year when she had off periods. And she knew that their one-year anniversary was coming up in the near future as well, so she had to start planning something for that as well.

Hearing that Kaleb had English with her first period put Katelyn a little more at ease. At least she would know someone in her class if she didn't have her two best friends with her. Listening to them gab a little more about their schedules, Katelyn looked down at hers again. "Aw crap," she groaned. "I have French second period and then Government...how the heck do I end up opposite of you guys all the time?" Katelyn sighed and folded her schedule, hoping that she would know someone else in her other classes. Maybe she'd even get lucky and meet some guy in one of her classes that would keep her entertained for the semester while she didn't have her friends in those classes.
Hearing the bell ring from across the parking lot, she knew it was time to get to class. "Hey guys, we gotta head out before we're late for our first day...I know I don't want detention this early in the semester." Turning around to face the building she started to walk, hoping her friends would follow suit so they could all go in together and then separate to their classes. It was going to be an interesting day, but Katelyn was ready to get the first day of her last year of school over with.

Smiling at the quick banter of the three best friends Kaleb glanced down at his watch on impulse as Katelyn mentioned being late to their first day of classes. 'Welp, here goes nothin, this year's gonna be the best senior year ever.'
Kaleb turned to Lucy and before turning to follow Katelyn into the building he wrapped his girlfriend up in a big bear hug, and said, "Let's go suga-babe, I'm ready to get this road on the show. Err...show on the road." He laughed at his mistake and shook his head, "Wow, and I'm about to graduate and be a college student..."
This thought stopped him right in his tracks, he wasn't sure why that had shocked him so much... "I'm about to GRADUATE...and go off to college...possibly." He hadn't exactly known what he wanted to do in college, or to what college he wanted to attend for that matter, but he figured that he would end up going to appease his mother. 'Speaking of mother...she would be telling me right now to get my rear in class right now.' He shook his head head mentally and got back to reality and sighed loudly, then motioned for Lucy to lead the way into the school.

Lucy once again stuck her tongue out at Kenzie when she commented that scaring the jumpy one was always fun. She was glad to know that she had her first two classes with at least one person she knew. Lucy glanced around the parking lot wondering when she was going to see Vanessa again. The last time had been at the Forks birthday celebration and part of her felt like she needed to apologize if Vanessa had felt ignored. Lucy tried to shrug it off knowing more likely then not they would have at least one class together. She tuned in on time to hear Kenzie flaunting that she had two free periods to spend her time doing what she please. “Oh gee I wonder what you’ll be doing with that spare time.” Lucy giggled a little at her friend knowing Kenzie would understand that Lucy was just poking fun.
Lucy turned to Kate in time to hear her groaning about her opposite schedule and she felt a small frown on her face. “Well that sucks, but at least we should all have lunch together.” Katelyn then let out a reminder that they should start heading to class so they wouldn’t get detention on the first day of school. Lucy sighed and was about to head to the school right after Katelyn when Kaleb pulled her into a bear hug. She then laughed as Kaleb said, "Let's go suga-babe, I'm ready to get this road on the show. Err...show on the road." Lucy smiled and stood on her toes to kiss Kaleb’s cheek. As they walked towards the school Lucy slipped an arm around Kaleb’s waist and leaned in for a quick hug, and she smiled reflectively knowing she was going to have a great year.

Kenzie sighed and ignored Lucy's commentary on what she did with her free time, knowing it was just a jab at her relationship with Jon. However, she knew she could turn the tables at any time now that Lucy was dating Kaleb. It was all fair game now. They had teased her for long enough about dating Jon, so it was time for some new games on Lucy. And then, of course, they needed to find someone for Katelyn too. She would be the hardest one to find a boyfriend for because she was so active and going all the time. Getting that girl to slow down was like trying to sew without a needle and thread...impossible. She's worse than a hyperactive child on sugar... she thought amusedly to herself.
Hearing Katelyn declare it was time for classes to start, Kenzie sighed heavily and started walking toward the building, leaving Kaleb and Lucy to themselves. "I'll see you at lunch Kate!" she called to Katelyn as they walked across the parking lot. She knew she would see Lucy in their first period class anyways, so she went ahead into the building and found her classroom, saving a seat next to her for Lucy. Having her foreign language first was probably not the most intelligent idea being that Kenzie was not exactly a morning person, but this was just to get it over and done with in order to graduate on time and with the right amount of credits for everything. As the other students filed in, she wondered who else might be in their class that she would know.
