Rosalie was all alone in her room, she was missing Emmett and did not want to be around the rest of the family. She was not in a playful mood without her Emmett around. He was her joy in life and with out him, she was brooding. She sat at her desk and stared at a picture of them from their last wedding. She wondered if he was ever going to come back. She had not heard from him since he left Forks and she knew that was unusual. He had never been gone so long with out contacting her. She was starting to worry that something had happened to him. She was thinking about leaving to look for him, but she did not know where he went.
Rosalie wished that she could cry so that she could express how she felt at that moment. She walked from her desk back to her bed and laid across the bed with the picture of them in her hand. Where are you... She thought to herself as she looked at the picture. She knew that she would not be herself as long as he was gone. She wondered why he left with out telling her in the first place. She knew that was not like him. He always told her or took her with him. She thought about the rest of the family, and knew that she had not been out of her room since the party and her talk with Nessie, but she did not care. She had no intention of leaving until he returned. She knew that her eyes were turning black from the thirst that she was feeling, but she did not care.

Maden was in his room when he heard his mother walk around in her room and he decided to check on her. He walked inside her room and saw her laying on the bed, and he felt sorry for her, she probably missed his father. He walked over and sat down on the bed and lay down with his arms around his mom. "I miss him too mom, im sure he will come back soon." Maden said as he saw the picture in her hands. He lay there for a while and noticed her pitch black eyes and got an idea. "Mom, the bears are going to their sleep soon, wanna go hunting for them, they are dads favourite hunt. And you need to feed, your eyes are black as a pitch." Maden asked and felt the need for blood in himself. He could live of human food, but he actually preferred blood after his living in the mountains. "We could ask uncle Jasper to come with us?" Maden asked, hoping it would increase her wanting to feed.

Rose smelled the scent of her son as he entered her room. She knew that he would be concerned from her, concidering the way that she was acting. She knew that when he saw her eyes he would be even more concerned but she was beyond caring about anything other than him and Emmett. She knew that with Emmett gone she needed to be there for their son, but she was just to depressed. She felt him lay down on the bed and put his arm around her. She knew that he missed his father too, but it was different for her. She was missing her mate, the one that had been by her side for over a century. She was not sure how to survive with out him.
When Maden mentioned hunting bears, but just made things worse in her mind because that reminded her even more of Emmett. She knew that Maden was trying to help and that he did not mean to hurt her, so she would not let him see the pain that those words caused her. "You are right son, bears are your father's favorite. Thank you for offering, but I don't want to hunt bears with out him. It will just remind me of him more." She said to Maden in a soft motherly tone. She would not let him see how bad she was hurting with Emmett gone.
All she wanted to do was stay in her room and be away from the rest of the family. With out Emmett she did not have the desire to do anything. "You should hunt if you need to Maden, though I know that you can eat human food. I would never stop you from living like a vampire, after all you are half vampire." She said to him, as she sat up on the bed and crossed her legs. She took the picture and placed it on the night stand beside her. She turned back to Maden and saw his father in him. She was happy that Maden was in her life, but she could not get over the loss that she was feeling without Emmett. She knew that she was being self-centered, but she also knew that she could not help it. She did not want to be a bitch to the family, so it was better that she stay in her room and not around them. "I am glad that you came in, Maden. I have missed you while you have been away, but I can not deal with things without your father. He has been by my side for over a century now and it is not the same without him." Rose said to him, she hoped that he would understand. "Maybe one day you will find someone that makes you feel the way that I do about your father." She said as she looked at him. She noticed that he had grown into a handsome young man and knew that soon, he would stop growing and become immortal like they were.

Jasper had been back from Florida for some time. With the help of Rosalie and most of the Cullen family, Jasper had be welcomed back with open arms. The news that he had not cheated on Alice had also done something to brighten the spirits of the Cullen family. Jasper still had an extremely rocky relationship with Alice, and he knew it would probably be a long while before there was any hope of getting better. Jasper was currently sitting outside of the Cullen Mansion thinking over what had occurred the last few days. Torment stabbed at his heart pulling him away from his thoughts. Jasper took a breath and realized that Rosalie was in the house, and guessed that there was only one person she could be thinking of at that moment.
He thought of the last couple of weeks that Rosalie had been taking care of him and he realized that the tables were slowly but surely turning. Rosalie was slipping away piece by piece without Emmett to hold her together. He was not foolish enough to think that as her twin, he was all she would need; Rosalie needed for Emmett to come home. Emmett had been gone for far too long and a few seconds later Jasper could feel another throb of pain and was certain to the cause this time. He thought for a few moments and knew that Rosalie had probably staked herself out in her room, and would stay there come hell or high water. Jasper knew that he would eventually be able to get Rosalie out of her room but he was not so sure on how long it would take to do so.
He made his decision knowing Esme might be less then pleased at his idea, but he knew what he should do for his twin and ran off into the woods. Jasper found what he was looking for and had no patients for games and swiftly broke the necks of the first two stags that he could find. Jasper knew the probability of talking Rosalie out of her room would become much better after she had eaten something. He hefted the two stags onto his shoulders and made his way back as quickly as he could to the Cullen Mansion. By the time that Jasper reached the front door of the house he smelt that Rosalie was no longer alone, and that her son Maden was with her. Jasper did not sense Esme anywhere within smelling range and entered the house with the kills. As loving as Esme was, Jasper knew that she would frown at the idea of hauling two deer through the house.
Jasper reached the door to his twin’s room in time to hear her say, "Maybe one day you will find someone that makes you feel the way that I do about your father.” Jasper took a mental sigh as he opened the door and entered with the food. He looked to see that Rosalie and Maden were both sitting on the bed and he guess that they had just been talking about Emmett. Jasper set the two stag on the floor near Rosalie’s bed saying, “Rose you can sit in here as long as you like, but that doesn’t mean that you can put off eating forever.” Jasper was really starting to become concerned with what was going to happen to Rosalie without Emmett around.

Rose had just finished speaking to Maden about his father and the way that she felt about him. When Jasper burst into her room with two dead stags in his arms. She could smell the still warm blood in their bodies and felt the thirst in the back of her throat. Rose knew that Jasper was trying to take care of her the way that she took care of him. She smiled lightly at her twin before she sank her teeth into the first stag. Rose would not refuse after Jasper went to all the trouble of hunting and killing for her. "Thank you Jasper." She said to her twin with love after she had finished draining both stags.
Rose got up from the floor then and went into her twins arms. She buried her face in his chest and wished that she could cry. She had never missed anyone the way that she did Emmett. She knew that she was losing herself without him there. Rosalie was always so sure and strong when he was around but with out him she was a wreck. "I miss him so much." She whispered into her brothers chest, hoping that he would understand what she was feeling. She knew that he would be feeling her feelings just as much as she was and she was sorry for that. "I am sorry that you have to suffer with me Jasper. I know that it is hard for you to deal with my emotions as well as your own." She said to him as she pulled away and went back to her bed, beside Maden.

Jasper was relived that Rosalie ate the food he had brought for her. Rosalie had even smiled. He knew it would be difficult, but now he had to try and talk Rosalie into leaving her room. After drinking the two stags dry Rosalie thanked Jasper and got up from the floor and came into his arms. Jasper stood there holding Rosalie waiting in perfect patients. It amazed him that Jasper was able to deal with Rosalie’s pain at the absence of Emmett. He had rapidly progressed over the last few weeks and found himself able to cope better, and once again gain control over his power. Jasper then heard Rosalie whisper, “I miss him so much.” Jasper nodded his understanding and whispered back, “I probably know better than anyone how you are feeling Rose.”
Jasper wanted his twin to be happy and he knew he could make her feel that way, but it would only be an illusion and a temporary fix to the situation. "I am sorry that you have to suffer with me Jasper. I know that it is hard for you to deal with my emotions as well as your own." Rosalie then pulled away and Jasper shook his head as Rosalie placed herself back on her bed. “Never apologize for how you feel Rose, and try not to think of your suffering as being hard for me to cope with. The fact that it is your pain, and that I want to help you puts my own problems away. Right now Rose making sure that you are happy and safe is my priority.” That was the truth for Jasper it bothered him to see Rosalie so upset, and it also angered Jasper towards Emmett for being gone so long without explanation.

Maden was sad about his mom not wanting to go hunting. He just sat there for a while and tried to figure out what to do. He then smelled Jasper coming up and came in with two stags. Why didnt i think of that Maden thought to himself and hated himself for not being able to make his mother feed. He watched as she dried out both stags and entered Jaspers arms. Somethings his mother said had dissturbed his mind. "Maybe one day you will find someone that makes you feel the way that I do about your father." she had said. Maden didnt want to feel that way about anyone. To see if they left for a little time, and it would tear one apart. Maden never wanted to feel that way, not ever. He was soon 7 years old and allmost fully grown, soon he would stop aging and be forever a young man. He thought about seeing the world, but decided staying home would be safer, that way he wouldnt end up stumbeling into some girl that would steal his heart. He heard Jasper speak to Rosalie, and thought they didnt need him, so he ran out the door and ran outside and down to the river, sitting on a big rock.

Jasper could feel how upset Maden was. He knew that his nephew was upset because of the way that Rosalie was feeling. Maden did not need Jasper’s gift to feel connected to his own mother. Jasper hurt for his twin knowing that one of the last things she would ever want to do is hurt Maden. Jasper could also feel the change in Maden as he comforted Rosalie. Something was upsetting Maden and Jasper knew that Emmett was not around to talk to his son about it. All likelihood being that Emmett’s absence was the cause of the turmoil that Maden was feeling in some form or another.
Jasper knew that Maden was going to have to talk to someone soon and he knew that Rosalie was probably not in the best of shape to help Maden. Before Jasper had any chance to talk to Maden, he left the room. Jasper sighed glancing after his nephew making a mental note to speak with him, or to have Carlisle do so.

Rose had just sat back down on the bed when her son stormed out of the room. She was sure that she had upset him somehow. She wished that she knew what she had done but she would find out soon enough. "Well I guess I upset him." She said to Jasper. She hated that she was hurting everyone and that was the reason that she was staying in her room in the first place. "I know that I am not the easiest person to be around with out Emmett, but I thought that I could spare everyone if I stayed in my room." She said as she turned to Jasper.
She did not want to talk about her anymore, so she decided to change the subject. "How did your talk with Alice go?" She asked him as she turned and patted the bed beside her. She wanted to help him in any way that she could and was there to support him. She knew that they were each others best friend and they were always there for each other.

Jasper shook his head when Rosalie seemed to take the blame for Maden’s exit, “It could have been just as likely something else Rose, you never know.” Jasper could feel warring emotions inside of Rosalie and at the moment he was arguing with himself what to do. Part of him did want to shield Rosalie from the painful emotions, but deep down he knew that it would not work forever. "I know that I am not the easiest person to be around with out Emmett, but I thought that I could spare everyone if I stayed in my room."
Jasper shook his head again at his twin, but added a shrug before he started speaking, “I may be a little biased on whether or not you are hard to be around without Emmett. But what I can say is that hiding in your room isn’t the solution.” Jasper walked from the doorway over to where Rosalie was sitting on her bed. He sat down before continuing, “Rose I love you, and I want every happiness possible for you, but staying in your room doesn’t help.
Families are suppose to help each other.” A few moments later the subject was changed from Rosalie and Emmett, to Jasper and Alice. Jasper gave a small sigh and shrugged at his twin, “I really couldn’t say. I really am so angry with her Rose, but she wants to have a relationship again.” Jasper realized that he was starting to get on a wheel and focused back on what his mission was. “But what Alice and I are dealing with isn’t the problem, what’s the problem right now is getting you out of this house preferably, but we can start small and go downstairs.”

Rose knew that her twin was not going to give up on her anymore than she would have if it had been him. She knew that Jasper was the one that would not let her stay in her room and sulk. He would be as strong for her as she had been for him. She knew that she would give in to him and leave her room. "I know that you are right about everything, but it is hard for me. It has been so long since I have been truely alone. I know that we have each other, but it is different with our mates. I know that we are both in a situation that we don't want to be in, but we have to stick together and make it through together." Rose said to Jasper. She knew that he was right about everything, but she was not ready to leave just yet. "I know that I should not be hiding in my room, Jasper. It is just that I do not want to face the family right now. I know that if one of them said the wrong thing, I would become the old Rose that is prone to breaking things again. I don't want to be that way with the family." Rosalie said as she put her head in her hands. She was glad that Jasper was the one there with her now. She needed her twin there to support her, like she had from him not that long ago.

Jasper knew that what he was saying had to be reaching a part of Rosalie. He was mentally digging himself in for a fight with Rosalie. Jasper knew that it would not become physical, but he was not going to allow Rose to stay in her room until Emmett came back. There was no telling how long that would take and Jasper found himself frustrated with his brother. Emmett had left out of the blue without warning, but as Jasper considered the situation he realized more of what had happened when he left. Jasper knew that Emmett left under less tense circumstances but leaving the family still hurt everyone. Jasper could hear Rosalie’s heartbreak and he could feel it pouring out of her as she spoke. He took his twin’s hand in his own and promised, “Rosalie Hale as long as we are twins you will never be alone.”
Rosalie went on to say that she knew she shouldn’t be hiding in her room but she did not want to be faced with the family. She was apprehensive about the old Rosalie coming out. Rosalie put her hands to her face and after a few moments Jasper spoke again, “Rose you don’t have to face the family if you don’t want to, but you can’t stay in this room forever. You need to at least take a walk by the river, or go hunting when you need it.” Jasper took Rosalie’s hands from her face with a small grin, “Especially because I doubt that Esme would like to know I am dragging dead animals through the house.”

Rosalie listened to her twin and knew that he was right that she would never be alone as long as they had each other. Rosalie was extremely happy that Jasper was back and she was glad that he was there with her. She knew that he would not let her mope around like she had been. Rosalie was better than that and she knew it, but she was hurting and missing her love. Rosalie was trying not to be lose herself.
Rosalie heard her brother say that she did not have to be around the family and she was glad for that. Rosalie still had her head in her hands but she was listening to her twin and knew that she should go outside. She was not sure that she could do it alone though. When Jasper took Rosalie's hands, she looked at her brother. When he spoke of Esme, she knew that he was right again. Esme would not like him bringing dead animals into the house. Besides they tasted better live. Rosalie did not like dead blood. "I know that you are right about me getting out of the house and about me hunting. It is just that I don't want to be alone out side of my room. Would you go with me for a walk along the river or hunting. I know that I need to hunt more." Rosalie said to her brother. She knew that the two stags had not filled her, but she did not want to hunt alone.

Jasper could feel Rosalie hurting and he really wanted to make it better for her. He did not see how locking herself away in her room would make things any easier. That Jasper was certain of, and it was something that he had learned from his experience in Florida. He had been locked away with his emotions for months in that cell. Jasper had gone mad for a time while he was locked away until Alice had come to see him. He knew it would tear Rosalie up, and it was obvious that it already was. Jasper did not wish that fate on Rosalie and he knew he had to get her out of her room, if even to only take short walks by the river. Jasper nodded to his twin when she asked if he would come with her to walk and hunt more. “I would be honored to Rose.” Jasper got to his feet not letting go of Rosalie’s hand. He tugged on her hand pulling her gently towards the window, “We don’t even need to walk through the house.”
Jasper knew that Rosalie needed to start feeling better and becoming more involved in her own life. He probably understood better then most in the family at how painful it was to be without your mate. Jasper knew that Rosalie would need a lot of support to help her until Emmett decided to come back home.

Rose was glad that Jasper was going to stay with her. When he said that he would go with her, she smiled at him. Rose did love her twin, though she did not always show it. When he pulled her up from the bed, she did not resist. She went the the window with him, and knew what he meant for them to do. Rosalie had not fully used her vampire skills in a long time. She thought back to when she used to run through the forest. "Thank you, Jasper. Let's go for a walk." She said as she lifted the window and dropped out of it.
She knew that they needed to talk about something, but she was not sure what. She did not want to talk about Emmett and she was sure that he did not want to talk about Alice. She thought for a moment and then smiled a little and laughed. "We are a messed up pair aren't we, Jasper." She said as she slipped her arm through his to walk together. Rosalie had missed the walks and the talks that they used to have years ago when they were still pretending to go to school. "I miss the days when we all used to go to the high school. We were all so close back then." She said as they walked.
