Surprise, I am back! [Jake/Nessie]

Lexi knew where Jake lived from being in contact with him through her mind. Lexi decided to leave her car at the beach and run through the woods to his house. She could not risk phasing and others be in wolf form, but she could run almost as fast in her human form. Lexi loved to be back in the woods of LaPush. She had thought that putting Jake and Nessie's house right on the bourderline, had been a perfect idea. It was half on LaPush land and half on Cullen land. A perfect place for them to live. The merge of both worlds like their marriage. Lexi was happy for Jake, but she was not sure if Nessie would remember her. Lexi left for college, right after the stand off with the Volturi, when Nessie was just a few months old. Now she was grown and married to Jake.

Lexi arrived at the house and had to rub her noise alittle. It had been a long time since Lexi smelled the scent of the vampires, she was not used to it anymore. Lexi knocked on the door and waited for any answer. She knew that Jake would be surprised to see her, since she had not told him that she was coming home, the last time that she had been in wolf form.

Renesmee had been rather angsty since the near attack on herself and Alicia by Crystal just a few days ago. Everything made her jump for no apparent reason from a door shutting to the toaster popping. Get yourself together Nessie, she snapped at herself as she walked from Alicia's nursery into the kitchen to fix herself some lunch. Jacob was on patrol now more than ever. He felt so badly that he was not there to protect her and Alicia when Crystal arrived, even though she had told him time and time again that it was not his fault. As she walked into the kitchen, she listened back to make sure that Alicia was sleeping. Hearing the calm breaths of her daughter, she smiled and began to fix some pasta for lunch.

A few moments into cooking, a knock came at the door. Renesmee jumped and sighed at herself. "Stupid, irritating paranoia," she muttered to herself as she walked across the room to the door. The scent on the other side of the door was not one she recognized, but she could tell that it was definitely wolf. Opening the door, she saw a woman standing on her doorstep with dark hair and eyes. "Hello," she greeted softly, wondering who in the world was the woman at her door.

Lexi watched as Nessie opened the door to her and said hello. "Hello, Renesmee. I am not sure if you remember me or not. I am Lexi Lightfeather, Quil's cousin. I was hoping that Jake was home. I did not tell him that I was coming home. I wanted to surprise him." Lexi said as she stood in the door way. Lexi could tell that Nessie had grown up to be a very beautiful girl. Lexi as missed watching her grow up, but Lexi knew that she would be around now and they could become friends.

Renesmee stood there and thought for a moment, trying to remember if she remembered anyone named Lexi from her past. However, there wasn't a trigger coming at all that would make her remember. "I'm terribly sorry," she apologizized, opening her door to let Lexi in, "but I really don't remember much of my life here before we moved to London. My parents kept me pretty sheltered when I was younger." She walked into the living room and sat on the couch, opening up her home for Lexi.

Looking at her guest, Renesmee smiled lightly. "I'm sorry you just missed Jake not too long ago. He is out on patrol with some of the pack," she said, crossing her left leg underneath her to make herself comfortable. "We've had some recent problems with rogue vampires trying to attack me and the baby. Jake is doing everything he can to make sure that we are absolutely safe from any harm. I think he works too hard sometimes and blames himself for things he shouldn't."

Lexi listened to Nessie apologize for not remembering her. "Don't worry about it. I left right after the stand off, you were only a couple of months old then. I really didn't expect you to remember." Lexi said to her as she crossed the room and took a sit on the other side of the couch. "I am happy to be home now though. I don't think tha I will leave again." Lexi said.

When Nessie told her about Jake being on Patrol and the issue with the rogue vampire, Lexi knew that she was going to have to get back with the pack soon and start running patrols again. Lexi loved it when they got to hunt rogue vampires. "I will talk to Jake about running some patrols for him. I could use it time to run and work." Lexi said to Nessie. "So how is Alicia?" Lexi asked her. Lexi knew from Jake's mind that the baby was born and going well.

From what she could gather, Renesmee knew that Lexi seemed very sweet and friendly. As they sat on the couch and chatted, she could tell that Lexi was happy to be home for the first time in a long time. In truth, Renesmee remembered the exact same feeling when she and her parents had returned from London nearly a year ago. Wow... she suddenly thought to herself. Less than a year ago I was coming home from London and now I'm a wife and mother. That is definitely only something that can happen in this world. The thought settled in her mind and she smiled. Having Jacob and Alicia in her life was definitely worth everything.

When Lexi brought up Alicia, she wondered for a second why she would even know about the baby, but quickly remembered that she was connected to the pack mind and would know from Jacob's thoughts. "Alicia is perfect," she said happily. "She is getting bigger and looks a lot like Jake. In fact, she got his dark hair and has a more olive tone to her skin. However, she has my eyes and curls." Talking about her daughter was one thing Renesmee loved most in the world. Like any new mother, she absolutely beamed when it came to her baby. "She is probably the single-most spoiled and unspoiled vampire-wolf-human hybrid in existence," she added with a giggle. The only one in existence.

Lexi smiled and laughed as Nessie talked about Alicia. "I am glad to hear that she is well." Lexi said to her. Lexi realized that she had come home and had not brought any presents for the newlyweds or the baby. "I am sorry that I did not bring you a gift. I was in such a hurry to get home, that I didn't even think about it. I meant to send a present for the wedding, but I was in the middle of the jungle in South America." Lexi said as she looked down at her hands. Lexi had spent the better part of the last thirty years doing research of one kind or another.

Lexi thought about the Cullen's and decided to ask Nessie about them. "How is your family, Nessie? I have not seen any of the Cullen's since before I left. I was thinking of stopping by over at the mansion, but I was not sure that the wolves did that or not. I assume that since you and Jake are married that the truce is still in affect." Lexi said as she realized that she was rambling about things that she need to talk to Jake about.

Renesmee smiled and shook her head. "You don't have to get us anything," she reassured Lexi. "We both know how busy lives can be when you're travelling around the world." More than anyone else, Renesmee knew what that was like. Living in London with her parents for nearly thirty years, travelling all around Europe in the process, she felt like she had lost contact with the world she once knew as home. Even though she and Jacob talked on the phone almost every night while she was away, it still was not the same as being home and in his arms. She knew that now they would never be apart because they were married. Nothing could ever take her away again.

When Lexi asked about her family, Renesmee got a little flustered. She knew that the Cullens were not going to be the same family that Lexi remembered. "Well, things in my family have been a little strained lately," she explained cautiously. "It's a long, involved story...but the basic gist of it is that some ex-sister named Crystal showed up, tricked my entire family except for my Aunt Alice, and then betrayed us all. Her mate tried to kill me while I was pregnant with Alicia. And now Crystal is apparently hell-bent on my destruction." Renesmee knew that what she had just said was the Reader's Digest version of things, but it was the basic gist of all that was happened. She knew she could fill in gaps later when she was more in tune with her own thoughts.

Lexi listened to Nessie talk but her family, and heard about the rogue vampire that was loose in Forks. That meant that she would be able to get in on some old fashion vampire hunting. "I am sorry to hear about that. I understand now why Jacob is out on patrol. I will have to talk to him about running patrols and looking for this girl." Lexi almost couldn't wait to be hunting a vampire again. It had been years, since she had killed one. "Why are you here alone with a rogue vampire on the loose. Wouldn't you be safer at the mansion?" Lexi asked her. Lexi was concerned for Nessie. If anything happened to her or the baby, Jacob would be crushed.

Renesmee shook her head. "Things have been...well, rather tense around the mansion as of late and I would rather not have the baby around that," she explained. Being around everyone at the mansion made Alicia cry a lot more, so Renesmee knew that they were more comfortable at home. "And besides," she qualified, "Jake's pack has grown a bit since I came back and we were married. There are other wolves constantly guarding the house now." Thinking back to the previous attack that made Jake step up the protection around the house, she shuddered for a moment. Thankfully Ryssa and Nate were there to help keep her and Alicia safe.

Lexi listened as Nessie talked about her family and everything that was going on. Lexi knew that she needed to talk to Jake and to get back to work as a productive pack member. The pack needed her. "Nessie, I am sorry to hear that the family is having trouble. I hope that with me and the others being back we can help in any way that Jake needs us." Lexi said wishing that Jake would come home soon, she knew that he was going to be surprised to see her. "Do you think that Jake will be home soon? He doesn't know that I am back. I have not phased since I decided to come home, so that I could surprise everyone." Lexi said to Nessie thinking that she probably did not want to know everything that was going on with the vampire, but it seemed major to keep Nessie from her family. Lexi had never known the Cullen's to be seperated when something was going on.

Renesmee sat idly on the couch and wondered when the storm in her family would pass. It felt like an eternity already, but she knew it had not been that long. She knew that things would not be alright until after Crystal was dead and the major threats were disposed of. Until then, things would continue to be high strung and tiresome for everyone. And she would not see her husband more often until things were settled again. That was the major concern for Renesmee because she wanted time with Jacob and she wanted him to get to know their daughter. Her thoughts dwelled on the fact that now there were a few more wolves home to help out with patrols, so she could possibly see her husband a few more hours of the day.

Her attention was brought back to the present with Lexi's question. "I honestly don't know when Jake will be around," she answered truthfully. "I hardly get to see him and I'm his wife, so who knows when he'll be coming around?" There was a hint of sadness in her tone that she hoped Lexi wouldn't detect. For a moment she sat perfectly still as she heard the baby stir in the other room, but relaxed whenever Alicia drifted back to sleep. Everything in her world revolved around her daughter. Alicia was her reason for waking up in the morning now and brought her endless joy throughout each day. And she was thankful for that, otherwise she might have gone insane by now.

Lexi could tell that Nessie was sad and she knew that she needed to get back to work in the pack so that Jake could spend more time with his wife and daughter. "I will make sure that Jake has more time to spend with you, now that I am back in town. I am not leaving again, with the older members of the pack returning home things will start to get better." Lexi said hoping to consol Nessie. She knew that Nessie must be lonely. Lexi wanted to see her Alpha but if he did not come home soon she was going to have to phase so that she could talk to him.

[Jacob Black]

Jacob was running thought the forest when he realized he had been away from him longer then he hold Nessie he would be, He hate being late it always cut into time with the family. Nessie and Alicia are his who life he disliked how Crystal was still a treat to his small family. The last time he was not there to save Nessie was way to close for him tor handle and it made him angry more at himself then anything, Jacob thought he should be the one who was protecting his wife and not Ryssa and Nate. He was hardly sleeping anymore and thought Nessie's words brought him some comfort Jacob he still did not feel now more then ever it would be good for him to but his guard down.

Sniffing around Jacob picked up an old scent, just like one he remembered of a old member of the pack. it took him a few seconds to clue in who it was because thi pack member. Lexi had not been around in a long time. Jacob let out a small wolf chuckle first his cousin came back then Quil cousin. the girls must have been running on the same wave length. Fallowing the scent and realizing Lexi was at his house Jacob went into the back yard and passed picking up his pants from behind the tree were he left them and walking into the house. "Ness I am home babe sorry I am late.. Oh and hi there Lexi." Jacob kissed Nessie's cheek and looked at Lexi. She was not any other just like tash was she must have not imprinted also. " so hows everyone this afternoon?

Lexi had just promised Nessie that she would make sure that Jake got to spend more time with his family, when she heard Jake come into the house. Lexi smiled to herself. It had been thirty years since she had seen Jake. She knew that even though they still comunicated through their thoughts when in wolf form, it would be nice to see him human. Lexi knew that Jake would not be as surprised as the rest of the pack by her return, but she was the one that was surprised by his comment. "Well hello Jake. After thirty years I come home and all I get is "Oh and hi Lexi" not even a welcome home?" Lexi said to him in her usual playful manner.

Lexi knew that of the female wolves, she was the most playful. Lexi was too much like Quil in that reguard. She was always the clown of the bunch. She thought back to when she and Quil used to play jokes on the other members of the pack and she smiled. She missed those days when Quil was young and her best friend. Until she left LaPush, she and Quil were unseperable. Lexi hoped that she would find a replacement in her life for Quil now that he had grown old. She knew that she was letting her thoughts drift, so she came back to the present. She needed to be on patrol so that Jake could be with his family.

"Nessie was telling me that you need more of the pack on patrol. Just tell me what you want me to do and I will get on it. I have decided to come home for good. I am here for the pack and ready to work." Lexi said to Jake. She knew that they really did not need to catch up as she had been in contact with the pack over the years. That was one good thing about the pack, no matter how far you travelled away from the pack, you were still part of the pack mind. Lexi had been all over the world and never lost contact with the pack. All she had to do was phase and she was plugged into the pack collective. "I am sorry that it took me so long to get home, but I am here now." Lexi said as she turned to Jake. She would take his patrols so that he could stay home.
