Bridget ran her fingers over the spine of a book as she tilted her head, looking at the different selections that this relatively small library held. She fluttered her eyes for a moment as she looked up at the young girl behind the desk near the entrance. To be honest, she wasn't entirely sure what had kept her in Forks for this length of time. Seeing as how she wasn't entirely a social person, she felt quite comfortable coming to the secluded library. Bridget scratched the back of her neck as she looked around the fairly empty library before she pulled the book from it’s home on the shelf. Bridget held the book tightly between her two hands as she went to a darkened corner at the edge of the library and settled into a more comfortable looking chair, not that it mattered. Bridget settled back against the chair as she opened the book, which happened to be a collection of poems and instantly searched for ‘ I Do Not Love You Except Because I Love You,’ by Pablo Neruda. She tilted her head against the back of the seat as she crossed her legs. Though she could recite not only this poem but many others from heart, she still loved the beauty of seeing the words written out on a page. She quietly ran her fingers over the edge of the spine before she placed her fingertips over her lips, narrowing her eyebrows as she took in each word. She looked up momentarily, giving a small smile to the sound of pages being turned. Bridget looked back down at the pages of her own book as she pursed her lips. She had very few memories of her human life. One thing she would never forget, for obvious reasons, was her husband Derek. As a human, she knew she loved him. But after her change into this life, she wasn't entirely sure she could relate to the poem she was reading for herself. She turned the page as she sighed to herself. It was hard for her to believe that such a love existed for her kind. Though she could see it around her, she couldn't help but feel as though these were rare experiences. Giving her heart and trust over to someone else completely, allowed them to have the power to completely devastate her, and from what she had seen of her kind, that was all too possible. Bridget had accepted long ago that she would live this life without a mate, without so much as a companion. The one person she felt she could rely on was herself, and hearing of the Royal Family and how they were all tightly wound together incredibly intrigued her. She moved the bangs that had fallen over her eyes as she looked deeper into the pages. The soft curl of her hair bounced past her shoulders as she adjusted the way she was sitting. She scanned the book for other poems that she may be interested in, but found that she had read the book much quicker than she anticipated. She bit her bottom lip, turning her attention back to the book in her hands. Bridget looked out the corner of her eye towards a clock on the wall. She wondered just how much time would pass before she would feel that it was acceptable to go and retrieve a different book without it looking suspicious. Bridget’s Outfit

Christian had come to the library at the small town’s lone college several times the last few days. It had been several days since his arrival to Forks. He had decided that the short time that he had spent at the party would be close enough to the Cullens that Christian wanted to get. His power was on the fritz because he had never been around so many vampires with such powerful gifts. Christian still had no idea what he was doing there when it caused him obvious discomfort but something he realized was that he had become a glutton for punishment. He constantly talked himself into trusting others and never had it proven to be a good thing; Christian was tired of it and that was how he had found himself at the library. It was a small place and very few people were ever there and never before had the other patrons bothered Christian. He knew that it had to do with the attitude that he could feel rolling off of him. Christian knew that he did not have an inviting presence and he loved that because humans would almost always leave him alone.
A pattern that he had discovered to be broken by children that had no problems walking up to the beast, yet another reason that he came to a college library. Adults knew that Christian appeared different and that there was something else to him beside his ‘screw you’ demeanor. He was then surprised to the point of annoyance when he walked through the library to find that he was not the only different one present. Christian could feel that the other vampire in the library was not far from him, and whoever it was, was powerful. Taking the book that he had brought, Christian slowly made his way past the shelves of books towards the other vampire. After a few moments Christian was partially shielded by one stand of books between himself and the female vampire. Christian watched her as she looked towards the clock and he smirked to himself as he realized that action was one of subtle impatient.
The beauty probably wanted to exchange the book that she had in front of her but wanted to spend time looking normal. Christian wanted to approach her but the antagonizing memories of the past washed over him like ice water. Christian did not bother to look back as he headed towards the opposite end of the library with the hope that he would be left in peace to read.

Bridget felt her eyes dart upward almost immediately as she took in a new scent entering through the library. She hesitated for a moment, licking the corners of her lips as she did her best to seem casual, moving her hair behind her ear to get a better look at the newcomer. Forks was proving to be such a strange little town to Bridget. Only a few times in her life had she ever been around so many vampires in her entire existence, but she had never been around someone of her kind in a small library such as this. She narrowed her eyebrows slightly as she looked down at her book, brushing the edge of it with her fingers . Most of the vampires that seemed to have settled in a pre-determined location had libraries twice the size of this in their own homes. She gave a small cough, doing her best to incorporate humanly tendencies before she looked back over at him, realizing that he must be a traveler such as herself if he too has brought himself to the small library. Bridget stood from the chair that she had been standing in and lingered ever so slightly to the stand of books that had been in front of her.
Bridget scanned the room before she led her eyes back to the man who had entered just moments before. Her eyebrow was raised slightly as she began to take in an initial impression. It was in her nature to shy away from any situation that led to a gathering of too many people, especially when they were of her own kind. That did not stop her however from being curious as to observing those of her kind. The fact that he was alone impressed her slightly. All of the vampires she had seen in this small town seemed to travel in packs. She turned quickly, realizing he would be able to sense her hovering and took a few steps as she scanned over the edges of the books to find another suitable option. Bridget smirked, giving a small laugh as she saw The Grapes of Wrath poking from the corner. A small frown formed across her lips as she took it from the shelf, it was easy to tell from the binding that this book had hardly been looked at , let alone read. Bridget gave a small shake of her head as she walked back towards her seat, sitting a bit closer to the man before her than her original lounging place had been.

Christian stopped in the medical section to grab a random book from the shelf. It had become a habit over the last few years, he would find a library and read the books at random; once the books that he selected began to become repeated then Christian left town. Christian had noticed that there were two colleges in the area and they both had fairly secluded libraries. He decided that he would remain in town longer then he did most places for that reason as Christian tried to ignore how big the vampire population was. Christian glanced around the library for a few moments and found the empty children’s section. Because it was late he knew that it was close to impossible for anyone to come and bother him.
Christian then remembered the other vampire that was in reality a very short distance away from where he was sitting. He could feel power flowing from the other vampire from across the library which meant that she had to be pretty powerful. Grant it Christian and the female vampire were not far from one another but there was something about her that made the back of his neck tingle. The last time Christian had met a vampire that caused that reaction it had been the two days he had spent in Italy over three decades ago. In his musings Christian nearly missed the fact that the female vampire had moved closer to where he was sitting. Christian as per usual was not in the brightest of moods and he wondered what was possessing the other vampire to actually move closer. He looked across to her, ‘What in the hell do you want?’ Knowing that he was not going to get a response from her Christian looked back down at his book.

Bridget watched as the vampire grabbed a book and made his way towards a different section of the library. Something about his attitude instantly caught her off guard. Though she wasn’t the most social type, she certainly wasn’t used to having to feel as though she was stepping in on someone else’s territory, especially when she could tell that he too was a traveler. Bridget set her book down back on the shelf and instantly made her way towards him. She raised her eyebrow as she folded her arms, taking only a few seconds to stand before him. She could tell instantly by his demeanor that she wasn’t welcome, and it was that exact reason that she was standing in front of him now. Bridget found herself being drawn to another vampire for the first time in her entire existence, when her initial reaction had always been to steer clear. Though he obviously did not want her presence, or her company, she couldn’t help but feel as though she should stand her ground. She gave a small cough as she stood in front of him, waiting to see his reaction. “Excuse me Sparky, but.. I wasn’t exactly aware that this territory had been marked,” She took in a deep breath as she squared her shoulders and looked down at him.
It was entirely in Bridget’s nature to be sarcastic. Some may see it as a tool to deflect others from getting too close to her, and in all honesty it was probably true. She moved the hair from her eyes as she looked down at him. Bridget had to admit that he was breathtakingly handsome, if not one of the most beautiful vampires she had ever seen. She found his attitude both offending and alluring. She sighed, almost allowing herself to apologize before she narrowed her eyebrows again, reminding herself that he was the one that had the attitude rolling off of him as though he had bathed in it.

Christian was trying to focus on the book in his hands when suddenly he could feel that the other vampire had vacated her seat. ‘If you are smart then you will stay the hell away from me.’ Christian thought to himself as he looked back to the book in front of him. Suddenly her scent hit Christian and he felt her presence closer to him. ‘Son of a bitch.’ He grumbled mentally as glanced up to see a pissed off vampire standing in front of him. From the subtle arch in her eyebrow, down to her arms that were crossed over her chest Christian could easily tell that he must have done something to irritate her. That in turn irritated Christian because as far as he was concerned he had yet to do anything wrong. Christian was about to open his mouth and tell her to bug off but the female vampire spoke first.
“Excuse me Sparky, but.. I wasn’t exactly aware that this territory had been marked.” The female took a deep breath and squared off to Christian looking down at him. Christian then felt the edge of his mouth slide up on one side as he looked back down at his book, “I suppose everyone makes the occasional mistake.” Christian nonchalantly turned the page in his book as he added with a small frown, “What’s that old saying? To ere is human?”

Bridget dropped her arms from the crossed position that they were in as she stared down at him with her jaw slightly dropped. Not only had he made it extremely obvious that she was imposing on her territory, but when she confronted him about it he had the nerve to have a tone back with her, and not even in an obvious way which made it even more infuriating. She smiled sweetly as she looked down at him with an amused face, “How cute, it talks, and even has sayings,” Bridget smiled again as his egotistical attitude began to officially irritate her, “ The ego has a voracious appetite, the more you feed it, the hungrier it gets,.. I believe that’s how it goes,” Bridget raised her eyebrow again as she looked at him, “ I honestly didn’t mean to impose.” Bridget took the seat next to him. She laid her elbows on her knees and sighed as she laid her forehead against her hands, closing her eyes tightly. She was frustrated with herself for allowing herself to not only stay in Forks for such a specific amount of time, but to be drawn into some sort of odd automatic irritation with the robot of a man next to her.

Christian did not have to look up from his book to know that the female vampire was stunned at what he had just told her. He fought back a smirk as he thought, ‘Maybe that would get her to leave.’ Christian allowed himself to look up from his book once to see the look on the female’s face and he could not stop a small smirk when he saw that her jaw was slack. Christian also noticed that her arms had fallen to her side after a few seconds he watched as her shock melted into anger. He looked back down at his book continuing to read not really caring if he had hurt her feelings or not. Christian wasn’t watching her but he could feel the sarcasm rolling off of her as she spoke.
Before Christian had a chance to say anything back to her the female vampire actually sat down next to him. He looked over at her not bothering to hide the, ‘what the hell’ look he knew was plastered on his face. It was then Christian’s turn to arch an eyebrow at the woman, “You didn’t mean to impose, but you want to sit next down next to me?” The female vampire by this time would have looked as though she had gone to sleep, but Christian knew that to be wrong. He also expected for the woman to jump up from her seat in potential anger at the observation that he had just made.

Bridget tilted her head to the side as he spoke, not in the least surprised that he had retorted back with yet another sarcastic comment. She licked her lips as she straightened back into her seat, crossing her legs gracefully as she folded her hands into her lap. She thought for a moment before she gave a small sigh. At this point, she knew she wasn’t welcome, but she could honestly care less. She hadn’t sat down in order to sit next to him, it was just a side effect of her human behaviors. Bridget gave a small shake of her head, wondering why in the hell she was still in this small town. She knew that she had every ability to leave, but for some reason she had a desire to not leave just yet, and she wished that something would happen to explain to her why she felt the compelling need to stay in this god forsaken town. She turned her eyes back towards his, smiling softly at the look of irritation on his face. Bridget scratched the side of her neck as she narrowed her eyebrows. She could see where many would think that Christian was rude, or impolite. Bridget had the feeling that, that wasn’t so much the case; but more that he was just apathetic to every situation he walked into. “ Well, I figure you can’t be any more irritated than you already are,” She gave a small shrug as she looked back down towards the book in her lap. She looked over the edges of the page as she had picked up Anna Karenina and wished for a small moment that she had been more like her in her own life, not the sexual and moral drama, but that she had left some sort of a remarkable impression. She looked out of the corner of her eye to see that he had picked up a medical book and gave a small impressed lift of her eyebrow paired a nod of her head as she settled back into the chair. Bridget did her best to concentrate on her book, but found herself looking back up at him. She opened her mouth to say something, but quickly bit her bottom lip in order to keep the words from coming out. All of these years she had been pushing herself away from any type of social interaction, and the first time she found herself actually wanting to instigate a conversation, was with a man that clearly would rather do anything but. She narrowed her eyebrows as she justified to herself that the only reason she was clearly so interested in talking to him anyways, was because of the latter, he was so unavailable such as herself that in intrigued her.

Christian watched as she tilted her head to the side, not appearing to be surprised by what he had just said. He waited expectantly as she did the oposite of what he wanted her to do by setteling into her seat. The female vampire sighed to herself as Christian thought to himself, ‘Please tell me you aren’t dense enough to think that I want you to sit there.’ She looked over to see his irritation and she started smiling. ‘Well fine two can play that game Princess.’ Christian was about to say something when she spoke, “Well, I figure you can’t be any more irritated than you already are.”
She also looked over to see what book that he was reading through. The woman seemed to be impressed by the book that he was reading but Christian did not see what the big deal was. Christian shrugged and looked back to his book, “Princess the mere fact that I haven‘t walked off by this point or started a fight shows you how uninitiated I actually am. So really I would wipe that smile off your face, I‘m not sure how attractive it is.” Christian turned another page in silence wondering if the woman would get up and leave now, or if she would choose to remain in her seat.

A bright smile crept upon her lips as she ran her tongue over the point of her tooth. She gave a small laugh, finding it amusing at just how apathetic he was. She lifted her eyebrow slightly as he called her princess and turned her body back towards him. Though she acknowledged that him calling her princess was not a term of endearment, but a statement of disrespect due to the fact that he did not care to use her name, “ It’s Bridget, and I think I'll keep my smile thanks. You should try one sometime, I have a feeling I would know exactly just how attractive it would be” She gave a soft smile as she opened her book, imaging the way he was seated next to her. The tug of war inside her mind was enough to drive her crazy, but she felt she was doing a sufficient job at present a collected façade. Bridget had the unfamiliar urge to jest back at him, and at the same time be offended by the way he spoke to her. She looked out of the corner of her eye as she glanced back at him, it was clear that he was not having the same issue of tug of war in his head. His facial expressions rang loud and clear, he had one thing on his mind and that was irritation. She gave a small chuckle as she covered her lips lazily with a few of her fingers, looking down at her book. Bridget narrowed her eyebrows as she kept her eyes on the pages of her book. “So what about you Sparky?” She looked back up at him, almost certain that instead of his name she would receive another sarcastic remark. Bridget bit the inside of her cheek, wondering why she even cared in the first place.

The female vampire turned towards him and Christian could sense that she had a smile across her face. And yet again a laugh escaped as something seemed to be extremely amusing to her. She then corrected his initial barb of calling her Princess by giving her actual name. Bridget then suggested that he start smiling because he would know just how attractive it is. Christian realized that his level of disgust was no where close to what it should have been. He truly disliked being around others in general, and far from relished the idea of being around his own kind. The irony being he had known exactly who lived in the small town, and exactly how powerful they were. Christian always seemed to put himself in that place of being around others and in places that only left room for disappointment. The fact being that was one thing others never failed to do was to disappointed him. There had only been one person in Christian’s century and a half of life that had never disappointed him.
Christian would probably be one of the first to admit that he was extremely bitter, but he also preferred to think of it all as the truth. Everyone screwed people over no matter how kind are mean they were, and Christian thought that kindness only made things worse. He had just led a long and hard life, and Christian had no desire to spread joy around, or have others act that way towards him. In his musings Christian nearly missed Bridget’s question, “So what about you Sparky?” Christian continued to read his book for a few moments in his own silence, ignoring her question. “Why are you over here? Obviously you didn’t come to the library for social interaction.”

“I’m asking myself that same question. I’m not naïve enough to think that you welcome my presence. The fact that you are so put off by it, intrigues me. Actually, any type of social interaction usually is the last thing I want or look for. People have way of being…disheartening. But for some reason, you’re ‘don’t give a shit attitude’ is alluring. If only because I can tell that it is actually genuine.” Bridget gave a soft smile as she looked down at her hands. She thought for a moment, about her power. People had disappointed her, her entire life. The sad thing was that if she had actually wanted to, she would have been able to make sure that no one would disappoint her in her life. The idea of taking away someones free will, whether she agreed with it or not, was something she did not relish. She had used her power, very few times in her lifetime. Bridget could count each instance she had ever used her power on one hand, and each time she justified that what she had done was in order to protect others, her family, herself. But even with that justification, it sickened her that she had taken away someones free will, no matter how despicable they may have been. She was used to others letting her down, but had she taken away their free will so that they would not continue to do those things, she would be far more disappointed in herself, and that was something she would never be able to live with. Bridget gave a small sigh as she placed her chin on her hand, lost in thought.

“Nice to know you aren’t a complete moron.” Christian said as he looked through his book as Bridget said that she knew he did not want her there. He wanted to roll his eyes as she said that she found that his distane for her presence was interesting. ‘I never really thought of disliking others was interesting.’ Christian thought to himself. Bridget finshed by saying that she could tell his attitude was genuine, “Well good for you, you can read people.” Christian could easily feel himself beginning to get irritated again as they continued to talk and he recognized that it was a little ridicules. He would rather not believe that he hated the world so much that he couldn’t even talk with others, but the fact of the matter seemed to be just that.
Christian snorted to himself as he realized that he hated the general populus and how everyone acted towards one another. He really believed that it was a matter of time before people broke each other into pieces that could never be put back together. Christian glanced over at Bridget as he heard a sigh pass her lips wondering if that was a final sign that she was going to leave. She did not look like she would be getting up anytime soon and Christian looked back to his book doing his best to ignore her.

Bridget narrowed her eyebrows as she lost herself in thought. She looked up at the few humans that had brought themselves to the library and wondered how in their life they had disappointed those in their lifetime. Sometimes she had to admit that her distain for people and the belief that they were all in doubt capable of only disappointment and anguish was a weakness instead of an advanced notion towards a collective group of people . Bridget was pondering the possibility that she may be an extreme masochist when she heard the handsome vampire to her side begin to speak. She kept her eyes forward, in fear that if she actually looked towards him again that he would have such a look of disgust on his face that there was no doubt that she would leave the spot she was sitting in and at this point, she was hell bent to not let his attitude effect her into a position where she would actually be the one to leave. Bridget was way too proud to let someone else effect her in that way, or at least too stubborn. She gave a soft smile, though he had said she wasn’t a complete idiot,he still left room for interpretation, and then proceeded to say how she could at least read people. “Better than you might understand,” She spoke quietly, low enough for only him to hear before she took her chances and looked back at him. Bridget tilted her head at the slightest degree as she looked at him, wondering what sort of life he had led, that led him to become this apathetic creature in front of her. She became frustrated as she couldn’t understand why it even mattered in the first place. She had met angry vampires before, but she bit her bottom lip. No, he wasn’t angry. That’s what made him different. He was content in behaving the way he did and she could only imagine his beliefs but she was certain that he wasn’t angry. “ I take that you either are a very good reader of people, or you are so unexpecting of any form of contribution made by other people that you’ve completely abolished any form of standard that you may have expected from people,”
