Vanessa smiled. She knew who Kaleb was. She had met him briefly at the diner. Lucy was right, Forks was a pretty small town. She had probably already met half of the people here and didn't know it. "Yeah. I met him a couple days ago actually." He was kind of spacey that day. Much like she was today before Lucy and Katelyn had snapped her back.
Vanessa was kind of startled when Katelyn suddenly jumped up and exclaimed she wanted to do something. She must be hyper after being in a house as long as she says she is. It must be torture. Vanessa couldn't even imagine staying inside the house with her mother for long periods of time. She could barely stand being in the house for more then two hours unless she was sleeping. "Yeah, movie sounds great. I have plenty of time." she said to Lucy after she asked if she had enough time. She was excited to be doing something. She hadn't been to the movies since she had moved, and when she went before she left, she had to take her cousin to see some Disney movie.

Katelyn rolled her eyes and smiled as Lucy explained about Kaleb being the mysterious "Cowboy" they were refering to earlier in their conversation. It almost made her laugh how much Lucy was already attached to that boy, but she kept her mouth shut before she could get jumped in front of Vanessa by her best friend. That would have been embarrassing in and of itself, so Katelyn was going to avoid that as much as possible for the time being. She would make her move later to torture Lucy about the Kaleb situation, which she knew was growing to be more than just friends. I'll get you my pretty... her inner voice cackled before stopping itself. Wow...I really need to stop watching 'Wizard of Oz' late at night.
The minute Lucy mentioned going to the movies, Katelyn's attention quipped over to her best friend. She couldn't remember the last time she had been to the movies, so this seemed like a promising plan. "So long as we're done and I'm home by nine, things should be fine," she said, almost groaning about her curfew. "My 'rents have enforced a redonkulous curfew on me and it's the middle of summer for crying out loud!" Katelyn scrunched her nose in disgust of her parents' strict enforcing of said rules and stipulations. The only reason she suffered was so she could at least get out of the house for a little while. "Sorry I'm venting to you guys...I haven't been able to vent in a while so it kind of got built up."

When Vanessa said that she had met Kaleb a couple of days ago, Lucy realized that she was the Vanessa that Kaleb had talked about. Lucy bit back a smile as she thought about that day which in fact was not long ago at all. She grinned as she remembered how Kaleb had pulled her under the water before Lucy could react. In retaliation Lucy had pretended to be upset before diving forward and knocking Kaleb under the water.
Lucy focused on what Vanessa said about the movies, "Yeah, movie sounds great. I have plenty of time." Lucy nodded and got to her feet dusting off the sand from the back of her legs. Katelyn also said that she had time to go see a movie, but that she still had a curfew that she needed to meet. “Well that’s okay, I’ll just call my parents on the way to the theater; they shouldn’t have a problem with it. Um I think that a Harry Potter remake is out, but I don‘t really know what else is going to be at the theater. We can find out when we get there though.”
Lucy took her cell phone out of her pocket to make sure that it did not have sand on it just as she heard Katelyn say, "My 'rents have enforced a redonkulous curfew on me and it's the middle of summer for crying out loud.” Lucy mentally sighed again and semi-yelled at her friend, ‘Kate you should not have gotten stirred up in all of that trouble and maybe your parents wouldn’t act this way.’ Lucy looked between the two girls when she heard Katelyn apologize for the venting she waved her friend off. “So do you guys just want to take my car that way we don’t all have to drive?”

Vanessa smiled. She was finally starting to have some fun in Forks. She just listened silently as Katelyn and Lucy started talking about Katelyn's "redonkulus" curfew. “Well that’s okay, I’ll just call my parents on the way to the theater; they shouldn’t have a problem with it. Um I think that a Harry Potter remake is out, but I don‘t really know what else is going to be at the theater. We can find out when we get there though.” Vanessa had never been into Harry Potter much, but there wasn't really anything else good out that she knew of so she just nodded her head to Harry Potter. “So do you guys just want to take my car that way we don’t all have to drive?” Vanessa nodded again. Maybe she wasn't that talkative today.
Vanessa was kind of excited. Today would be fun unlike every other day of summer where she just argued with her mother, stay inside, argued with her mother some more, and just left. Went wherever. Always by herself. Always having no fun whatsoever.

Katelyn nodded in agreement with the plan to take Lucy's car. When she mentioned seeing the Harry Potter remake, Katelyn had to laugh out loud. "Which one is it a remake of?" she asked in between giggles as they walked toward the cars off the beach. "Because if I remember correctly, it should be The Half-Blood Price. The one before it was a horrid remake and they left major plot-holes! I just hope that this one isn't such a disappointment." In that moment, Katelyn felt like a total nerd for spouting all that information about Harry Potter, but she knew that Lucy didn't care. However, Vanessa didn't know her as well, so she wouldn't know what a nerd she was about Harry Potter in the first place.
Turning to Vanessa, she laughed. "If I sound like a complete dork to you, that is perfectly fine with me," she said. "I've loved Harry Potter since I first learned how to read. My mom read them to me as bedtime stories when I was little, so it's been something I kind of grew up with." Katelyn felt a little better explaining her obcession because it made a little more sense to know that she grew up with something rather than just assuming they were obcessing over something for no real rhyme or reason. "My mom would even do different voices for all the characters, professors, and creatures of the book when I was younger, just so it was more entertaining to listen to her read." Katelyn thought back on fond memories of those days when she was around the age of eight and nine. It brought a slight smile to her face as they kept walking toward Lucy's car.
