Edward listened to Meredith's story and understood the thoughts that she was having. He had met several vampires that were created the way that she way, but never one so much like Carlisle. Edward knew that Alice would want to meet Meredith and that they had to keep her here until Alice came home, but who knew when that would be. He also wanted Carlisle to meet her but that was another of those unknowns. Carlisle was at the hospital almost all the time these days.
When she asked about meeting the rest of the family, he smiled. "I think that the rest of the family would like to meet you as well, but most of them are out right now. I am sure that they will be back sometime soon. Well except for the ones that are out of town." Edward said to her and thought about what to do to make her feel more at home. "We would love to have you stay here though. We have more than enough room. You are welcome to stay here at the main house or we have cottages and such scattered through out the woods around the house that you can stay in. We have the cottage's for guest such as yourself." Edward said and then thought to himself that it was not entirely truth. He amended it a little. "Well actually, we do have a few of the cottages that are occupied by our cousins that come and go. They live here but they are not always here. Bella and I also live in a cottage at the back of the property." He said the her, he knew that the others would not mind Meredith being here. They would all soon find out that she was kin to Alice.

Looking at Edward, Meredith did not understand how someone could be so kind to another person they had only just met. There was certainly something about the Cullen family that was more than meets the eye. In her twenty years of being a vampire, Meredith had only ever met two other vampires aside from her creator. Both of whom were non-vegetarian and tryid to convince her to change her diet. When she would not be swayed, they threatened her and that was her cue to run away as fast as she could. She would always outrun and outsmart her foes because she was faster and more intelligent than they were.
When Edward explained that most of the family was out or away, Meredith shook her head in understanding. Vampires had unlimited amounts of time, so waiting would not be a problem. The Cullen family intrigued her with their seeming closeness and willingness to love each other like a real family. Meredith had not known such a family, but it vaguely reminded her of her human family. Her parents and grandparents had loved her dearly. At times she could almost remember them clearly, but human memories were so frail and dim. Pushing those aside, she turned to Edward. "Thank you so much for your hospitality, but I would not want to intrude on your family," she said politely. "There are several outlying places in the mountains and forest that would be just fine for me. I'm used to providing for myself, so I wouldn't want to be an imposition." Meredith smiled faintly.

Edward laughed at Meredith and then was serious again. "It would not be an imposition at all. We keep the cottages for just such an occasion. As the royal family we are always expecting visitors. We never know when the cousins will come in or when a new vampire will come to see us. We love to have company here." Edward said the her. He was not going to take no for an answer. Edward knew that Carlisle would be mad at him, if he let her leave to stay in the woods. "Besides Meredith, if I let you stay in the woods and Carlisle found out he would be mad at me for allowing it." Edward said trying to make her feel comfortable with staying and understanding that the Cullens were not like any vampires that she would ever met.

Rose had just left her brother, which she was not happy about to run back to the mansion. The had chased Lexie's scent all the way down to San Francisco and were still headed south, which was not something that Rose or Jasper really liked but they were on a mission. Rose was supposed to call home, but she messed up again and had to run all the way home. Luckily she could run fast and it only took her an hour to run across three states. She was still upset with herself, and angry at having to leave Jasper, when she reached the house. She was not even paying attention would her stormed through the front door and up the stairs to her room.
Rose went straight to the drawer in her dresser that had what she needed. She pulled out a brand new phone and was putting her sims card in it as she rushed back down the stairs. She was going to leave the family a note to let them know what was going on. She turned the corner into the living room and finally paid attention to the smells in the house. She came to a dead stop just to the side of the stairs and looked out to see Edward and Bella with a vampire that she did not know.
Rose looked to Edward to make sure that there was no threat and when she was comfortable she spoke. "Hello sorry for the sudden intrusion. I did it again." She said holding up her new phone. Rose was the worlds worst on phones. She tried to use them when she was in a hurry and she would break them. "I was supposed to be calling home, instead I broke the phone again." She said to her brother and sister. She knew that she could not stay long but she could at least introduce her self to their guest. "Hello, I am Rosalie Hale, Edward and Bella's sister." She said to the girl.

Meredith nodded to Edward and conceeded, "I will stay in one of the cottages, but I intend to stay out of everyone's way while I'm here." One of the things Meredith did not want to do was interrupt their normal family life. She was not a member of the family, therefore she did not wish to interfere with them. "I will be a wallflower and you will hardly notice I'm here," she continued, letting out a small laugh. This was the first time in a while that she had really laughed, proving that she was comfortable in her surroundings.
Before she could say another word, she saw someone storm into the house and upstairs. Meredith caught a side glance at the newcomer and concluded that it must be another of the family members. A few seconds past before the newcomer came back down. When Meredith got a better look at her, she was stunned. The woman before her was impossibly gorgeous, even for a vampire with a statuesque figure and long, blonde hair that fell in perfect curls to the middle of her back, complimenting her pale skin. When the blonde introduced herself as Rosalie, Meredith nodded her head. "I'm Meredith Brandon," she said, introducing herself politely.

Bella stood by quietly as Meredith shared her story with Edward and herself. It was not an easy story to share for Meredith, as Bella could tell by her pained facial expressions and the wringing of her hands. However, Bella was glad that their guest felt comfortable enough to share her story with them. She considered it an honor to learn a little of their new friend that could possibly be someone in Alice's family. When Edward offered her a place to stay, Bella nodded in approval. Alice would definitely want to meet Meredith and quite possibly offer her a family link. Before she could say anything after Edward insisted she stay, she watched Rosalie fly into the house and up the stairs for something. It was so typical behavior of Rosalie that it hardly phased Bella.
When Rosalie returned downstairs and explained her phone situation, Bella had to laugh. Of the entire family, they were always replacing phones for Rosalie the most. As Rosalie introduced herself to Meredith and Meredith did the same, Bella smiled. "Meredith is going to be our guest for a little while," she further explained to Rosalie. "This is her very first time in Forks and she has never met any other vampires of our kind, so this is all new to her." Bella hoped that Rosalie was in somewhat of a decent mood so that she would not scare off Meredith with her behavior. That would be the last thing they wanted to do to someone who was likely to be related to Alice.

Edward watched as Rose flew through the house and up the stairs. He was shocked to see her home. She was supposed to be with Jasper, and he was not here with her. Edward saw her come back down the stairs and start to pay attention to her surroundings. It was unusual for Rose to be so distracted, but Edward figured it was because she was in a hurry to return to Jasper.
Edward watched as Rose introduce herself to Meredith and vise versa. Edward knew that the minute Meredith said her last name that Rose would react to her name. Edward hoped that Rose kept her month shut and asked the questions to him alone. "Rose where is Jasper and how is the search going?" Edward asked her.

Rose heard Meredith introduce herself and was shocked to hear that last name. Rose looked to Edward for clarification. Edward, is she really kin to Alice?"[/b] Rose thought to her brother and waited for the nod that she could feel coming from him. She was surprised to she this kindred of Alice's in the house. Rose knew that she was in hurry but she did not want to be rude either. When Edward asked about Jasper that was her cue. "He is in southern California, waiting on me to return before we go further south. She is running south. We should have her soon." Rose said to her brother before she turned back to Meredith. "It was nice to meet you, but I really must return to my twin. We have a lot of work left to do. I hope that you are still here when we are finished and come home. We should be done in a couple of days." Rose said as she moved toward the door. Rose did not like being away from Jasper right now.

Quietly watching the interaction between the brother and sisters, she knew that something serious had to be going on in the family that was on the personal level. A second later, Meredith zoned out in a sudden shock of a vision. In the vision, she saw two small children huddled and frightened in a room. It zoomed out to a relatively remote location in what looked like Baja California. There was a sign outside written completely in Spanish that she could not read. The vision ended on a sour note as it refocused on the two children, a boy and a girl, who were crying in the corner. When she refocused, she smiled at Rosalie so she would not seem rude.
"It was a pleasure to meet you Rosalie," she said. "I won't keep you here any longer since you have important things to attend to." Meredith held herself together, knowing that it was one of the most painful visions she had ever seen in her entire existence, human or vampire. Once she was alone, she could let it out any way possible, including destroying a few shrubs here and there. Her visions were powerful and could make her feel exactly the emotion those in them felt. She felt the fear of the two children and that was disturbing her deeply.

Rose had been around Alice long enough to know how she looked when she had a vision. Seeing the same look on Meredith's face was not good. She heard Meredith say good bye but it was to late for that. Rose had to know what the girl had seen. If it was any help she needed to know. "Meredith, what did you just see?" Rose said in a calm tone, hoping to reassure the girl. Rose needed to be getting back to Jasper, but she needed to know if the vision was about them. She wished that Alice were here but she would take what ever she could get.

After her vision was over, Meredith was still plagued by the sight of those two little children huddled in the corner. It was never like anything she had seen before. She was caught off-guard by Rosalie's question, but knew that by the look on her face that she had known of someone else with visions and recognized the glazed look she had as they played through her mind. Although she was a tad taken back as she had never been asked to tell one of her visions to anyone, she bit her lip for a moment and decided that she would share. Perhaps they could explain to her what it meant.
"Sometimes my visions aren't very clear, but this was was as clear as all of you standing in front of me," she began slowly. "In my vision I saw two children, a boy and girl around the same age, huddled in a corner of a room. They were frightened and I could very well feel what they were feeling. I could see that they were in a remote location, somewhere in Baja California would be my guess by the scenery and the Spanish signs." Meredith sat down on the nearby couch and pressed her fingers to her temples to relax her mind and the headache she now had. "I think that something or someone is holding those children hostage, whoever those children are. They looked around the age of five or six, at least that's what I could see."

Rose listened to Meredith tell her what she saw and that was enough for her. Rose knew that she had to get back to Jasper now. "Thank you Meredith, you have been a great help. I have to go now. My twin needs this information and I have to get back to him. I am sure that we will have more time to get to know each other later." Rose said as she turned and sprinted for the door. She called behind her to her brother. "Edward, let mom know that we are already and where we are headed. I will call as soon as we know something." She said as she went through the door. Rose ran as fast as she could back to Jasper.

Meredith simply nodded to Rosalie as watched as she exited the door. Obviously the information she provided from her vision had helped somehow. Meredith shrank back on the couch and held her fingers at her temples. Her headache was splitting as it always was after such an unusual and powerful vision. As she tried to push back the migraine, she focused on something else. Looking to Edward and Bella, she forced a smile. "I haven't ever told anyone about my visions," she said slowly. "I always thought they made me some sort of freak among the already freaky. I used to have these...premonitions when I was a human and I guess they just intensified when I became a vampire."

Edward had seen the vision in the thoughts but he could not say anything. It had taken him by surprise at the intensity of it. He was used to Alice's visions but that was painful for him. He watched Rose and knew that she saw the look on Meredith's face. When Rose asked, and Meredith told her, he heard the distress in her thoughts and knew that she was gone.
When Meredith refocus on him and Bella and started talking, he had to smile. "Some of us have special talents but not all. Most of our family does though." He said to her.

Meredith stitched her eyebrows together in confusion. She had never met another vampire, let alone one that had powers. In her entire existence, she had never known that other vampires were capable of having powers in the first place. The entire time she had been under the impression that having powers was not normal for a vampire in the first place; at least that's what all the vampire lore and folk tales told her. Then again...it also said they were allergic to garlic and sunlight would kill them. Two myths that were obviously not truths in the least bit. A sense of wonder filled Meredith's mind as she thought of the rest of the family that she might meet.
"I never thought having a power would be a normal thing in this world," she said, biting her lip anxiously. "I had always thought it was unusual for vampires to be...gifted in those ways." Meredith averted her gaze to the floor as she searched for the right words that would not make her look like a complete idiot in front of Bella and Edward. It was bad enough that she didn't even know that they were royalty, but there was no need for her to look even dumber in front of them. "What other gifts does your family have?" she finally asked, looking back up at the two of them.
