A time for discuss [Bella]

[Edward Cullen]

Edward knew that with everything that had happened over the last few week's, he and Bella would have lots to talk about and figure out together. They had to decide about the library that Addison had proposed. They still had not talked about Jasper and Alice. Edward was sure that Alice had told Bella, some but he was also sure that Alice had not told her about Jasper's imprisonment. Edward and Bella needed to discuss that and the ramifications that the doctors still being alive could cause. Edward knew that there was probably other things that they needed to talk about too, but those were the main one.

Edward sat on a bench in their garden enjoying the sun, while he waited on Bella to come back to the Cottage. He was not going to rush her home, so did not send her any messages. He would just wait for her to show up on her own.

Time wasn’t exactly something that Bella had paid any great attention to anymore. But after spending the day with Renesmee and Alicia, she had the sudden urge to return home to Edward. With all of the chaos that had been happening around their home lately, they had rarely found a moment to spend together that didn’t involve the rest of the Cullen family. She groaned internally as she realized that no matter how much time they were able to spend together, their next few encounters would be discussions over how to handle their family affairs. A part of her longed for a time before so much counted on their decisions, for being able to lay in the meadow with him and just let the time slip away without a second thought. Bella said her goodbyes to Renesmee and Alicia, kissing them both gently on their forehead before she made her departure, eager to return home to Edward.

Bella hurried home, not entirely sure if Edward would be at the cottage or the mansion considering how much was happening within their family. She smiled as she turned off the engine to her Ferrari, pleased to see him in the garden. Bella shut the door quietly, and was by his side in seconds. It amazed her how she could still be in such awe of him, in the way that he seemed to be enjoying the sun. She kneeled down to kiss his cheek before she took a seat next to him on the bench, “It’s been pretty hectic around here, lately,” Bella spoke quietly as she looked up at Edward, unsure of what he would want to talk about first. “I’m so glad that Jasper is finally home,” Bella laid her head against Edward’s shoulder as she looked up at the sun, glad to be enjoying it with Edward.

Edward heard Bella's car in the drive way and knew that she would be at the cottage soon. He smiled as she came into the garden. When she kissed his cheek, he kissed hers back. Edward knew that now was not a time for passion, though seeing her there in the sun, with her skin sparkling like his, did raise his passion for her. She was so beautiful to him. Edward knew that he would never get used to her beauty. She had mesmerized him as a human and now as a vampire it was worse. He watched as she said beside him and put her head on his shoulder. Edward was more in love with her now that ever before. He knew that they had decisions to make though and he heard her mention Jasper. "Yes, I am glad that Jasper is home now to, though I am not sure that he will ever be the same after everything that happened to him in Florida." Edward said to her. He knew that he was going to have to tell her everything that he saw in Jasper's head, that first day that he returned home.

Edward looked down into Bella's eyes and smiled that crooked smile at her. He could not help it when he looked at her. "Jasper went through a lot during the six months that he was imprisoned on Florida and that had to affect him in ways that we will never know." Edward said to her. He knew that she had talked to Alice, just as he had, but he did not know what all Alice had told her about Florida. "Bella, I would never ask you to break Alice's trust, but did she tell you anything about what Jasper went through in Florida?" Edward asked her trying to figure out where to start.

Bella smiled at first as Edward spoke as Jasper. It felt so natural for her family to be back together that she could hardly stand the wait until everything would finally be back to the way that it was before. She lifted her head off his shoulder and looked into his eyes as he spoke. Her mind flashed over the conversation that Alice had shared with Bella. Though Bella had never asked what happened in Florida with Jasper, she never wanted to pry and take any information out of Alice that she did not want to share. She looked up at Edward, suddenly feeling sorry for this power that he could not control. She knew how much he respected the privacy of others, and how at times his gift must seem like such a curse.

Bella sighed, trying to think of what she could tell Edward, without giving away too much of what Alice had told her. After all, Alice had entrusted her for a reason, that Edward couldn’t read her mind. “ She did not tell me everything, nor did I ask,” Bella fidgeted with her hands as she looked down at them, “ Though she did tell me about a moment that was shared between the two of them, one that I think made an impact on her relationship with Evan ever since her return,” Bella looked back up at Edward, knowing that he would be able to assume what she had said. A part of her felt guilty for a moment, though she had not really betrayed Alice’s trust. She gave a weak smile and looked back towards the garden. “ Is this something that Jasper won’t get past? Even with the support of our family?” She took Edward’s hand in her own as she turned her attention back to him. If there was one thing she had learned in this family it was to never pry, until it was absolutely necessary. They all ended up finding out everything that they needed to, just in due time.

Edward smiled down at Bella as he read the concern in her eyes for what she had said of what Alice told her. He wanted to set her mind as easy. "Don't worry love, Alice told me about that too." He said to her as he continues. "Maybe she does not know the extend of what Jasper went through for those months. I don't think that he told her. At least he did not think about telling her while I was around him. Jasper was tortured by those doctors that held him hostage. They did things to him that no vampire should have to endure. Jasper's mind is a funny thing now. He was lost for a time and did not know who he was much less the family." Edward stopped as he thought back over the memories that he had gotten from Jasper. Jasper had thought about everything so that Edward would know. Jasper had wanted Edward to know so that he could prepare the family before Jasper returned from the mission that he and Rose were on. Edward knew that Jasper was back but he was still with Rose, so the rest of the family had not seen him yet. "I think that only time will tell, if Jasper will be able to get past this, but even if he can, I am afraid that it changed him. You know that went a vampire changes, it is permanent. I think that Jasper will need a lot of support in the coming months. I know that Rosalie will be there for him and she will not stand for anyone upsetting him. Rosalie is more protective now than she was before he left." Edward said to her as he thought about everything.

Bella understood all too well how Rose was whenever she was protective over one of her family members. She blinked a few times as she took in everything that Edward had said. Jasper’s life was already so full of sadness and torture, that it pained her to know that the had experienced the same thing for the past six months. Her heart ached for him as she looked back up at Edward, “Then we will do everything we can to be there for him,” She spoke with certainty as she looked into his eyes. Whatever Jasper had put Alice through, it did not justify what had happened to him. There was no telling how much faster Jasper would have been home, had he not been held prisoner. “ You did not need to explain anymore to me, I think my assumptions would suffice,” Bella almost felt guilty knowing this piece of information. Though she knew that Edward would only tell her if he knew that it was something that Jasper would be comfortable with her knowing, it was something that she would rather talk to Jasper about himself.

Bella frowned at the thought of Jasper not being the same person that he had once been. Above all things he was her brother, and she knew that they would accept him into their family, no matter how he had changed. Bella bit her bottom lip as she wondered what all would happen between Jasper and Alice, of how it would be just as difficult for Alice to understand everything that had happened to Jasper, as it would be for him to have lived it. Bella looked down and shook her head, so much was happening in their lives that she felt like she was losing a bit of control, “What does it say about us, if we can’t even keep our family running?” She looked up at him, knowing he would know what she meant. It was difficult enough trying to keep everything in their family running smoothly, that at times she wasn’t sure how they were supposed to represent their entire kind and make decisions that would effect them all.

Edward knew that Bella was hurting over their brother, just as he was. He hated to see his family go through this, but it was out of his control. Edward knew that he could not take his families will away from them and he would never want to. He knew that even though he loved Jasper and Alice, they were not tied to the family the way that the rest of them where. Alice and Jasper had come to the Cullen's and joined the family, whereas the rest of them where all either created by Carlisle or in Bella's case by Edward. That make the difference in the way that they looked at the family. Edward knew that Bella did not want to know any more about what happened to Jasper in Florida, so he dropped that subject.

When Bella asked, “What does it say about us, if we can’t even keep our family running?” Edward knew the she was worried about their position. "Bella love, it is not for us to try to run or control our family. Carlisle and Esme will always be the leaders of our family. Even if they did not want to be the Royal Couple of the entire race, they are still our parents. They were offered it first and declined. It was only natural that it come to us, as I am Carlisle's oldest son." Edward stopped for a minute to think about everything. "I think that you take on to much of the family responsibilities, my love. It is not our job to keep the family together. Yes we are a family, but we don't alway live together, you know that. As for the dynamics of the family well those are different also. You know the history of how the family come to be. You know that some of us are tied tighter to the family than others. I love Alice and Jasper as much as I do Rosalie and Emmett, but Alice and Jasper were not created by Carlisle and there fore those bonds are not as tight as those of us that were created by him. Like the bond that is between us it tighter, not only because of our love, but also because I am the one that gave you this life." Edward looked down at her took her in his arms, hugging her tightly. He knew that she would understand everything from this point of view.

He moved on to the next topic of discussion from there. "The doctor's that were holding Jasper hostage are still alive. They escaped and are out there somewhere. I do not want them to do this to any other vampire's. We need to decide what to do about them. I am sure that Jasper will not be able to think about it for a while, with everything that it going on here right not." Edward said to Bella as he released her and stood up to pace around the garden.

Bella smiled as she looked up at Edward as he explained everything. She was amazed at his ability to always be able to calm her nerves. “You’re right, as always,” She laid her head back against his shoulder as she thought about the bonds that tied them, all together. It was true that if anything ever happened, Alice and Jasper would be able to part because their tie to each other was so much stronger than it was to the rest of the Cullen family. Bella smiled as she noted that Edward was just as confident as she was that the two of them would have no problem finding their way back to each other, and to the love that they held for one another.

Bella pursed her lips as he spoke of the doctors. Their kind within the vampires were something that could not be taken lightly, “They’ll need to be taken care of,” Bella smiled to herself, feeling slightly as though she was a mafia boss as she said it. She loved the irony in that statement, whenever she heard of. By taking care of someone, in that sense, you would be ending their lives. Bella lifted her head for a moment as she looked back at Edward, knowing exactly just how he felt about the situation and people who harmed others. Whatever they had done to Jasper, she was certain that it would not be acceptable for it to ever happen again. She was determined that no other vampire would be forced to be experimented on, as Jasper had. She felt calm in the fact that she knew that Edward would feel the same way. “ He does not have to tell us everything until he is ready. We can find out certain things on our own, with the help of others in our family,” Bella shook her head, “We can’t let something like this happen without consequence,” Bella shuddered as she thought about Jasper and what they had done to him.

Edward was glad to hear the Bella agreed with him on the doctor's. He knew that making the decision to kill any other vampire was the hardest part of their job, but it was something that had to be done. "I think that we should send Rosalie and Emmett after them. I know that Rosalie would want to kill the ones that hurt Jasper, and well Emmett just loves to adventure of it." Edward said to Bella. He knew that this decision was probably the easy of all that they had to discuss.

Edward knew that the next topic would have to be the library, even though they had not talked to Carlisle yet. "So I guess we need to discuss the library idea, now that we are alone and can talk freely about it." He said to her as he took his side on the bench again. "I like the idea but I have a lot of concerns about the information, being available to all vampires. I don't think that Addison is capable of running the library and protecting the information." Edward said to her.

Edward knew someone that would be perfect for the job, but he was not sure that she would do it. He knew that Bella knew her to but was not sure if she would remember her, she was human when she meet her. "I know some one that would be perfect for the job though and her gifts would lend perfectly to what it needed for such a job." Edward said to Bella, thinking of how to track her down. He was not sure if she would be in New Orleans or France.

Bella nodded quietly as Edward spoke. She did not enjoy the idea of taking someone’s life, no matter what they had done. She thought back to James, and looked down at her arm, touching her scar lightly with her fingers. Though she did not like the idea, she instantly thought about all of the people that they may be protecting from ever having to experience the pain that Jasper was forced to handle, and her mind was instantly set. She shook her head, knowing that was the best possible decision that they could make, it may have been a hard one, but making hard decisions was what Edward and her duties entailed.

Bella narrowed her eyebrows as she thought about Rose and Emmett going after the doctors. They were probably the best out of the family in this particular situation. Handling the doctors would require inept decision making and making sure that they acted quickly, which wouldn’t be a problem for either Rose or Emmett. Rose would be so infuriated for what they had done to their twin, and Emmett would be eager to be in on the action. Bella nodded, knowing that by doing this, she was basically sending Rosalie and Emmett on a mission. Once Edward would mention it to them, there would be no way of getting them out of it, “ I think that, that would be best. They would handle everything appropriately and efficiently out of everyone,” Bella was comforted slightly by the fact that Alice and Jasper would not be involved and have to face the monsters that had enslaved her brother, a slight growl escaped her throat as she thought about what they had done to him.

Bella looked up into Edward’s eyes as he spoke of the library. “Maybe if the library were already in place, we would know where to find your friend,” Bella laughed quietly to herself as she bit her bottom lip. “I think it’s a wonderful idea, honestly. Whoever runs the library is going to have to be very capable, and if you feel like you know someone who is up to handling the challenge, then I am sure that they are perfect for the job,” Bella wondered to herself what kind of powers the person would need to possess in order to run the library, she assumed that they would have to be similar to Edward’s.

Edward looked as Bella and laughed slightly when she mentions being able to find Reah if the library were already in place. "I know her phone numbers, I just have to call both and figure out which one she is out." Edward said to Bella. He knew that convincing her to come would not be hard as long as Remy was coming with her. Edward knew that Reah would not leave Remy, unless it was an emergency.

Edward turned to Bella and looked into her eyes. "Bella love, do you remember Cereah Grayson? She was here while you were pregnant with Nessie, but she left before Nessie was born." Edward asked her. He knew that her telepathy would be perfect for the job. "Reah has a power that is similar to mine only better. She can not only read your mind, but she can answer you mentally as well. She had send her thoughts to anyone that she wants with about five miles of her. So as long as the library is fairly close to the mansion, we will know if we are needed at the library." Edward said to her.

Bella looked down to the ground as she tried to remember Cereah Grayson. She shook her head at Edward, almost ashamed. " I'm sorry, no," Bella shook her head as Edward mentioned the mansion being that close to Forks. She instantly thought of the wolf tribe and how they probably wouldn't so thrilled to have a vampire library within howling distance. " I don't know, Edward.." She tried to imagine a more fitting place for the library, trying to think of every stretch of the world that she had visited in the last thirty years, and had to admit that she could only think of one place that would be fitting; but they would never put the library in Italy, not when it would need such a constant supervision.

Bella gave a small shrug in defeat, knowing that wherever Edward and Carlisle decided the best place for the library would be, was no doubt the safest place that they could locate it. "That's your call," Bella pulled her legs up, wrapping her arms around them, "It has so much potential, to be great in completely different ways," Bella shook her head, trying to reconcentrate on Reah, "She sounds extremely gifted," Bella admitted as she looked back up at Edward.

Edward could tell from the way that Bella was acting that she did not like the idea of the library being that close to Forks. Edward knew that Reah was gifted but he knew her limits, of course she could always call if they were needed. Though Reah was more than capable for handling herself. "Bella, we can move the library to some where different, but it does need to be close enough that we can protect it. I know that you don't like the idea of it being close to Forks. If we have to we can always make it mobile." Edward said to her and thought about that. He knew that if it was mobile, then if they left Forks, they could make sure that it left with them. He was liking that idea.

Bella looked up at Edward and gave a small comforted smile along with a nod. “I am more comfortable with the idea of the library being less,..permanent. We never know where we will be, and you know we won’t be in Forks forever. We have limited time,” Bella nestled back against Edward’s chest as she began to think about the library. Whoever Edward would trust to watch over something that could be as detrimental as the library, would be sacrificing a tremendous amount. Bella looked back towards the garden as she thought of Carlisle and wondered where he had been, probably off at the hospital as he had been so much lately. “ I like the idea of the library being mobile. If it were anything else but, humans may start to ask questions. The ease of changing it’s location would only make things easier for everyone involved,” Bella looked back at Edward and a soft smile came across her lips as she looked at the light reflecting against his beautiful skin. No matter what situation they seemed to be in, she was amazed that he still had this effect on her. It seemed as though every day her fascination with him only seemed to strengthen.

Edward listened as Bella talked about the library being mobile. Edward knew that was a good idea, but how would they do that. "I know that we will have to leave Forks again, at some point, but we always return here in the next generation." Edward said offhandedly to her as he looked out across the garden. "I know that we still need to talk to Carlisle about the whole thing. I wonder how many of those books that she has already?" Edward said as he continued to think through things. He loved that as a vampire, he could multitask like no human could imagine.

Edward turned to face Bella, and smiled. "I was thinking of something like a tractor trailer to be pulled by a semi, but I do not know if it would be big enough. That still leaves the question of where to park it while we are here in Forks. Should we consider putting it here on the land somewhere close? Should we put it somewhere like Seattle? If Addison is going to collect the information for the library, then does she intend on traveling a lot? If so, will she accept Reah working in the library to monitor things?" Edward knew that this was questions that need to be answered before they could make an informed decision.
