After school had ended, Drew wanted to get away from his father and overbearing sister. Ever since he had returned to La Push, things with his sister and father had been strained. His father didn't blame Drew for staying with his mother, but he hadn't wanted him to go in the first place. After the final bell rang and the students of La Push rushed out of the doors, Drew had made his way out slowly and calmly.
Walking nowhere in particular, he found himself edging closer and closer to First Beach. His mind rushed him back to when he was a child and he would spend all day at First Beach surfing with his day and some of the local boys. Reaching the edge of the water, he picked up a tiny, smooth rock and threw it in the water, watching as it skipped across. Sighing as he stood looking out into the beach, he put his hands in his pockets as the wind blew against him.

Katelyn had finished one of the worst days of school in her entire career. Every single one of her classes had decided to dump quite a load of homework on her, even though they were less than a few weeks from finishing the school year. In addition to the homework load, she was dealing with her best friend Kenzie going through a depression because of her separation from her boyfriend Jon. It had been a long three months that Katelyn had stood beside her best friend with the help of the third part of their trio, Lucy as well. But, today of all days, Katelyn needed a break.
When she got home from school, she threw her book bag in her room and changed into a pair of athletic shorts and a comfortable tank top. Once she was ready, she grabbed her car keys and headed out toward the line dividing Forks from the bordering tribal lands of La Push. She just kept driving until she reached the shores of First Beach. Cutting the engine of her car, she opened the door and got out, putting her keys in her pocket before stepping out onto the grainy sand of the beach. She walked along the beach and just watched the waves roll in and out. It was quiet; something Katelyn rather enjoyed. As she walked, she began to think about things. Her first semester in Forks was coming to a close and the summer was coming fast. She began to wonder how things were going to progress through the summer with dance and if some sort of romance would come her direction.
While thinking on all those things, she really wasn't paying attention to where she was going and she ran right into someone standing on the beach. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry," she quickly apologized. "I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and that really gets me into trouble sometimes. I hope I didn't disturb you." When she looked at who she ran into, she saw it was a guy. He was blonde and a tad taller than her. She had never seen him before, so she immediately blushed.

Coming to as he felt his body being bumped, he smiled at Katelyn. "Nah, it's no big deal. I mean no one got hurt, so ..." he said, trailing off. She was pretty, of course; like pretty much any girl was to him, with long and wavy blond hair and pretty blue eyes. He hadn't seen her before, and he figured she wasn't from La Push; as she wasn't dark-skinned like so many of the people who lived here. They would stick out like a sore thumb with big, bright flashing lights.
"I'm Drew Knox. Pleasure to met you." he said, extending his hand to hers, waiting for her to do something. "I, uh, just moved back here." he continued. "Are you from around here?" he asked, highly doubted that she was. Probably from Forks ... he thought. (Sorry it took me a while to reply, my computer has died. And sorry it's so crappy.)

Her blushing deepened when he began to talk to her and she actually paid attention to him. He had blue eyes and a cute smile. When he extended his hand toward her's, she smiled and shook it before introducing herself. "I'm Katelyn Taylor," she said sweetly. "And I'm not exactly from around here, but I live in Forks which is about fifteen miles from here." She smiled lightly and let go of his hand before looking down at the ground and blushing. Meeting new people was always something she hated doing alone. Usually she always had Lucy or Kenzie for backup, but this time she went at it alone.
Shuffling her feet nervously, she looked back up and half-smiled at him. "So, you said you just moved back here...where were you living before?" Katelyn decided that if she was going to be around, she might as well make some polite conversation being that Drew was newer in town than she was. "I'm from Seattle originally, but my family moved out here a few months ago when my parents got jobs." The moment the words left her mouth, Katelyn knew that she was babbling too much. Great use of word vomit there Kate... she scolded herself. Now he's probably thinking you're so damn talkative.
