Katelyn pulled up to the Forks High School parking lot, sighing heavily and thinking to herself, What in the world am I getting into? Moving in the middle of the year was probably not the best idea in the world, but after Lucy and her family decided to move two weeks prior, that made their decision permanent. She had not told either Lucy or Kenzie that she was moving either, which made this even more of a shock. Katelyn knew that she could not be apart from both of her best friends and wondered to herself how Kenzie had survived two years without her or Lucy. Katelyn knew that she could not have done it.
As she walked into the school, she asked for directions to the office from a student that looked like she knew what she was doing there. The directions were simple enough that she found it right away. And right outside the office doors stood Lucy, but Kenzie was no where in sight. "Oh...my...god..." she gasped and ran over to her best friend. "Lucy! I can't believe I found you!" Drawing her into an excited hug, she looked over at the guy Lucy was with, shot her a 'knowing' look and introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Katelyn Taylor. I'm new here."

Kaleb was silently relieved that he got out of having to answer the question that Lucy had asked about what he did with his free time...for now anyways. But only because he still wasn't exactly sure at how to answer. Just when he thought he had a fairly decent reply they arrived at the office and Kenzie scooted off to class, leaving Lucy and Kaleb awkwardly standing in the hall. Kaleb tried to reply to Lucy's next statement by saying 'Yeah, were being thrown to the…' When he was then interrupted by some other girl yelling at Lucy as she ran down the hall. 'Apparently, they know each other too…' Then she introduced her self as another new student at the school, named Katelyn. 'Wow! Three new students begin this small town school, during the middle of the year, all on the same day?'
"Well, what a coincidence…" Kaleb said, turning to the third new comer, projecting another smile. "I'm a new student too, the name's Kaleb Hall, nice to meet you." He was trying his hardest not to look nervous and shy. Being in the presence of two very beautiful, girls who were both looking at him for a response of some kind made him more nervous than he probably should have been. 'How would Brady act if he were here? He'd be soaking up all the attention, of course…wake up Kaleb' He shook his head a bit and then said, "We should probably hurry to class, what's yall's schedules look like? Maybe we'll have some of the same classes?" 'Smooth…' Kaleb thought, 'Lame!'

Just as Lucy was expecting Kaleb to say something she was nearly knocked off of her feet in a hug. “Ooof!” After she put her hands out and caught herself she realized that it was Katelyn the third musketeer. Lucy let out an excited squeal and hugged her friend close. “Kenzie is going to flip out when she sees you!” As the two friends stepped back from each other Lucy did not miss the look Katelyn shot her before she introduced herself to Kaleb. Lucy felt her entire face shining at the idea that Katelyn was here. Before Lucy was lost down memory lane Kaleb made a comment about classes and schedules.“Actually I have to get another copy of mine from the office.” Lucy said pointing at the glass door, “I decided to accidentally leave mine among the unpacked boxes in my room.”
She wanted to smack her forehead at how dumb she probably sounded and instead her face settled for a nice shade of pink. “Oh but I do know that I’m in an advanced English class.” ‘Way to recover moron.’ Lucy thought to herself as soon as she closed her mouth. ‘Come on Luce say something else. Anything at this point.’ “Do you guys wanna come with me and we can try to find the classes together?” ‘Damn it Lucy you just need to stop acting like a fool and just shut up.’ She realized she was making a total moron out of herself. She also felt like she was putting herself out there to be teased. At least in her mindset Kaleb could laugh her off and wonder what would cause him to wait for her. Hopefully Kaleb would not notice her out of character behavior, but it was almost certain that Katelyn would grill her as soon as it was back to the three musketeers.

"Oh I know Kenzie is going to flip out when she sees me, but let's not tell her just yet since I only just got here," she quickly replied to Lucy. If she knew Kenzie, which she did, that girl was going to go to freak-out mode in two point five seconds before she could even explain that she was there to live permanently.
When Kaleb mentioned schedules and Lucy started to blab on like an idiot, Katelyn suddenly realized that she didn't have one yet. "Actually, I need to go into the office and register since I just transfered here and haven't had time to come set up classes or anything. If you guys want to hang around, I'm sure we can figure this campus out after," she quickly rattled off.

"Sure, you girls go on, right ahead." Kaleb said, as he went and opened the office door for them. "I'll wait right out here, I've got my schedule, all I really need are a few directions and a shove to get me moving." He flashed a crooked half-smile because he didn't mean to be rude; but he also didn't feel like being squished in the tiny, already crowded, office like a sardine. He also couldn't help thinking that he really didn't feel like going and sitting inside a class room. 'I wouldn't even mind just sitting outside, maybe I'll go "exploring" during lunch.' he thought to himself.

Lucy bit back a grin as Kaleb held the door open. She could not stop the grin from spreading across her face though when a crooked smile flashed on Kaleb’s face. Lucy also fought with herself to skip excitedly into the office. Instead she looked up at Kaleb with her earlier grin that did not want to be erased, “Alright we will be back in a jiffy.” ‘Oh yeah Kate and Kenzie are so going to corner me at lunch.’ With that thought came an onslaught of ways to get out of the inquisition that she was sure laid in her immediate future. ‘It should not be too hard to hide at lunch if I don’t have the same class as Kenzie or Kate. Just gotta find a good hideout.’
Lucy thought as she reached the counter and requested a schedule from the receptionist. While Lucy was waiting for the woman to get her schedule Lucy glanced around the office and her gaze passed over the glass paneling that served as a wall. Kaleb was still out there of course and Lucy turned around hoping that he had not seen her practically watching him. The poor guy looked like a big fish out of water. ‘A very cute fish too.’ Lucy quietly laughed at herself and shook her head. She tried to shake off the thought with a sigh, Lucy never remembered being this goofy about a guy.

Katelyn nodded and walked into the office right after Lucy, going up to one of the receptionists to register for school, providing all her information that she knew she would need. It was a good thing that Katelyn tended to be the organized one that had all her papers ready so that it did not take long to get her stuff together. They immediately put in all her information, gave her a school map, and her class schedule within ten minutes. It pays to be prepared, she chuckled to herself.
Once that was done, she walked back over to Lucy with her schedule in hand. Lucy looked absolutely head-over-heels attracted to this new guy. It was not like Lucy at all to be like this, so Katelyn knew that something was definitely brewing there. She only needed to encourage it with a few nudges. "So um, the new guy is kinda cute," she whispered teasingly to Lucy so that Kaleb wouldn't hear.

The receptionist gave Lucy her next copy schedule. She looked down and her eyes immediately went down the list of classes and right to advanced English. ‘Ug I acted like such a show off.’ Before her thoughts were taken over Katelyn’s voice broke through. ‘So um, the new guy is kinda cute.’ Lucy bit the inside of her cheek to keep a groan to escape. ‘Oh yeah I am so running away at lunch, good-bye Luce.’ Grinning at her latest thought Lucy calmed down and shrugged, “Yeah he isn’t to shabby looking.” Lucy continued to play it off and wiggled her eyebrows and held up her schedule, “First day of school here we come.” Lucy sighed and walked out of the office knowing that Katelyn was right behind her. She stopped next to Kaleb, “How does your day of fun start out? I’ve got History.”

As the girls were getting their stuff taken care of Kaleb stepped to the side of the door, waiting patiently on his two new acquaintances. They all seemed to be really close, they were all very nice, and they were all really, really pretty. As he waited, he started to look around and noticed that from where he stood he could see the two girls inside the office. Turning and sneaking a glance he watched as they interacted with the people in the office.
Kaleb couldn't help but notice the twinkle in Lucy's eyes, as if she was truly enjoying life. Lucy seemed very personable and bubbly and it also seemed like she was always moving...very graceful. Katelyn seemed very laid back and somehow, simultaneously, a bit mischievous. To him, her smile held a secret, like there was something she knew, but didn't want to tell to anyone else. She was beautiful and Lucy was just as stunning. 'What are you thinking, Kaleb? It's only the first day and you're already analyzing these girls. Who are you to be so lucky, anyhow?!'
Just then he turned away quickly, because he thought Lucy was about to turn around and he didn't want them thinking he was staring...even though he was. A few minutes later he heard the girls as they walked out of the office and heard Lucy say to him 'How does your day of fun start out? I’ve got History.' After a bit of shuffling around in his notebook he found and read off his schedule. "Math, then History, and whadda ya know? Adv. English,(chuckles slightly) Lunch, Chemistry, Art, Spanish and then Athletics. Hmmm, did you say it was supposed to be fun?" he questioned jokingly.

Lucy bit back a grin as she watched Kaleb dig though his notebook. "Math, then History, and whadda ya know? Adv. English,(chuckles slightly) Lunch, Chemistry, Art, Spanish and then Athletics. Hmmm, did you say it was supposed to be fun?" A small laugh escaped at Kaleb’s joking question. “Well I think you proved me wrong with the math and chemistry. I’ve got History, Spanish, Advanced English, then lunch, Math, Art, and gym class. Talk about a copy cat schedule,” Lucy looked up from her schedule with a small grin, “Looks like you’re going to have to deal with this Yankee for three classes.” Lucy fought the urge to slap a hand over her face, ‘What an idiot.’ went through her head in big bold letters. After a second’s pause Lucy turned to Katelyn, “So how about you Kate where are you headed?”
At that point Lucy was already planning her escape at lunch. She was hoping that Fate was kind enough not to put her friend in the same English class as her before lunch. It would be a lot harder trying to dodge her friend if they were in the same class. Lucy was already coming up with an excuse for why she would not go to the cafeteria with Kaleb. She almost flinched at that thought, Lucy felt bad that she was just going to jump ship and leave Kaleb to the proverbial sharks. ‘It isn’t that big of a deal Lucy, Kaleb is a big boy he can handle himself. Besides he may want to sit alone at lunch anyway.’ For the first couple days of class that would be a truly comforting thought. It was going to be interesting enough having to dodge her friends and not explain; much less what it was going to a stranger’s opinion of her.

Katelyn walked out of the office in time to watch the exchange between Kaleb and Lucy. It was quite amusing in fact to watch someone like Lucy stumble over her words and then say something like “Looks like you’re going to have to deal with this Yankee for three classes.” Katelyn shook her head at her friend, laughing hysterically inside at Lucy. This was not typical Lucy behavior, but Katelyn was getting a kick out of it anyway. Walking up to Lucy, she was just in time to hear her best friend's question to her about her own schedule. She pulled out the salmon colored paper and looked at what her classes were.
"I have French, Art, and Advanced English before lunch and then Math, History, and Gym...bane of my existence," she said, scoffing on the gym part. "Honestly, why can't they just count our dance as a P.E. credit and be done with it? I see no point in being athletically inclined outside of dance...well for me anyways." It was ridiculous and torture in Katelyn's mind that she had to still do a gym class when she had danced every day of her life for the better part of the last twelve years. Screw the system, she thought bitterly to herself, keeping her cool and resolve on the outside.

'Haha...Yankee!?' he thought…He couldn't help but laugh at Lucy's comment about copying her schedule and having to put up with her in 3 of his classes. He smiled and tried to control his chuckle. 'She makes some of the most random comments, but she's funny.'
Katelyn walked up just as Lucy asked her what her schedule was, and as she read off her schedule and began talking about dancing, it clicked. 'She said "...OUR dance..." does that mean Lucy is a dancer too? Maybe that's why she seems so....graceful?' He wanted to ask if they were both dancers, but all of the sudden his ability to think clearly and put words into sentences that made sense, quit working.
After standing there for a few awkward moments all he could do was say "S-s-s-so, either of you find a map in there? ...where do I find my first class?

‘Crap!’ shot through Lucy’s head as Katelyn said she had Advanced English before lunch. ‘Oh yeah defiantly pulling some James Bond moves at lunch.’ Instead of focusing on her escape route Lucy shook her head at Katelyn, “Oh gym is not that bad, in fact basketball is kinda fun.” Lucy shrugged, “Just pretend like you’re out there dancing around. You just happen to be bouncing a ball at the same time that’s all.” Lucy looked back to Kaleb when he asked about a map and where his first class would be at. “Ah a guy who can ask for directions.”
Lucy grinned and found a school map and held it up. She looked over the map, “Hmm what was your first class again?” Lucy leaned over long enough to see that he had math. Lucy pointed down the hallway on her left, “I think you’re headed about half way in that general direction.” 'Just don't say anything stupid Lucy. You can manage one sain statement right?' "So I guess we will see you in English?" 'Okay maybe one normal comment is too much to ask, gah!'

Kaleb laughed at Lucy's comment about directions. Normally he wouldn't care to ask directions, but he was stalling...'Anything to keep me from having to sit through class, but this ain't gonna be a long enough stall, might as well suck it up cowboy...' He showed her his schedule and listened to her directions. "Alrighty then, English it is...thanks for the directions, see yall later." He headed in the general direction of where he thought she was talking about and sure enough, found his class. 'Whoopeeee' Kaleb thought unenthusiastically; just as the bell rang he opened the door and walked in.
He found an empty chair and sat. 'Geez, nobody wanna get spit on or somethin?' The only chairs left empty were two chairs in the front row of the room. 'So much for being incognito...wait that went out the window as soon as I came in the front door' He felt his face turn red as he felt all the other eyes on him and heard the whispers. He noticed a couple of people trying to say something to him, but casually pretended that he hadn't heard them.
The teacher started talking and Kaleb felt his face cool down when he realized that other people were now taking notes and listening to the lesson. He tried his best to pay attention, but it just wasn't making any sense to him. He then realized that he would have a lot of catching up to do because this wasn't the same book as the one they had used in Texas. They were also in the middle of a chapter; with this realization he was beginning to worry that all his classes would be this different. 'Just tough it out the first day, and see how it goes, English will be better, I'm good in English...plus I'll at least kinda know two people.' When the bell rang again he gathered his stuff and went in search of his second classroom and did pretty much the same thing in History as well. More eyes and more whispers and thankfully the content wasn't as hard to follow. He breathed a sigh of relief that his second class was over, yet it was also a sigh of frustration because he was so ready for this day to be over.
He meandered out into the hall trying to find his third class of the day, looking for one of the three faces he might recognize.
