It had been the most stressful few weeks in Evan's entire life, vampire or human. The move from England to America had been a lot more than he was anticipating as far as meeting Alice's family and changing his entire existence to vegetarianism. Alice had come home to being ambushed with the knowledge that her husband Jasper had gotten another girl pregnant, so she officially divorced him. All the while, their feelings for one another were becoming more prominent, much to the dismay of many of her family members...particularly the blonde one who always glared at him and more than once muttered "homewrecker" under her breath. Evan had mostly kept a low-profile in light of the circumstances, even barely speaking with Alice, who was his best friend and the love of his life, as he had recently discovered.
He paced back and forth in a clearing in the mountains. It pained him to even be thinking all the things he was, but he knew it was inevitable. With all that had happened over the last few weeks, he needed to have a serious conversation with Alice about what was going to happen in the future. Neither of them had made time for that as of late, so he knew that it was time for that conversation. He took out his phone and called her. It reverted right to voicemail, so he left a message.
Alice, it's Evan. Listen, I was thinking that it would be a good idea for us to talk in private. When you get this message, please meet me in the mountains. There is a clearing about ten miles from the border of Forks. I will be waiting here for you.
He snapped his phone shut and put it back into his pocket before resuming his pace routine. He knew that this conversation between himself and Alice would most likely make or break their relationship for good. He loved Alice with everything that he was, but knew that there was a part of her that still loved Jasper. Deep inside himself, he could sense it and he didn't blame her. After all, they were married for about a century. All he knew was that he loved Alice and wanted to be with her; to be the man that held her up during the hard times and see all of her smiles during the best times. To him, Alice was like sunlight after living in the endless night. She was a breath after drowning for so long. If he were to ever lose her, he didn't know how he would survive, but if it were something she wanted, he would respect that and never let her know how much it pained him. Dealing with his own pain would be easier than Alice's. He could never hurt her that way...ever.
Continuing to pace, he thought of how he would even begin the conversation with her. Evan was never one for smooth talk with girls, even if he could pull it off from time to time. Most of the time, he thought himself a bumbling idiot that could never say the one thing he really meant. All he really wanted though, was for Alice to know that he loved her and would be there for her no matter what she decided to do down the line.

Alice was at home when she got Evans message. She put her phone down and ran into the mountains to where he was. She saw him pacing back and forth and just stood there smiling to herself. She loved Evan, he had come back with her and she didn't care what anyone if her family said, he was her love. He made her happy when things got hard, he made her laugh, he was her rock. Alice slowly walked up to Evan from behind and jumped on his back, covering his eyes with her hands. "Guess who!?!" She asked in a deep man voice, trying her best cover her own high pitch voice.
Alice knew what this talk was going to be about. She had seen the vision and knew what Evan was going to do, however she still didn't know how she would answer. Yes she loved Evan with all her heart, but she still loved Jasper. Alice was lost.

Evan paced back and forth in the clearing, thinking about what to say to Alice. It was true that he loved her, but he had no idea what do to as far as their relationship went. He was no fool and knew that there was still something lingering in Alice for Jasper, which was only natural. But, what he wondered was how much was there for Jasper and how much was there for him? Before he could answer, he felt someone jump on his back and cover his eyes. Instantly he knew it was Alice, though she tried to hide her voice.
Smiling, he let her down off his back and turned around, taking her hands. "How did I know that it was you?" he playfully asked. "I think that you are about the only person who does that to me." At that thought, he chuckled a little. He was nervous, but he tried to not let that show.

Alice giggled as Evan took her off his back. "One day it's going to be someone else and you're going to make a fool out of yourself thinking it's me" She laughed at him. She loved the way Evan was, he brought out the little girl side of her, her playful side, and Alice adored him for that. "Oh and by the way...Tag you're it." She said as she tapped him and started to run away from him. She loved playing games with Evan, it's what kept things fun and was who Alice really was. That's what Alice also loved about Evan, she could be herself around him.

Evan laughed deeply as Alice tagged him. She always knew how to make him laugh and keep his mind off the stressful things in life. That was just Alice to him. "Oh you think you're faster than me," he chuckled under his breath as he took off into the woods after her. Chasing her made him feel like he was ten-years-old again and running on the grounds of his prepatory school in England, chasing after a little girl named Sarah from his class.
Running deeper into the forest, he caught sight of her and increased his speed enough to where he caught up to her and tackled her to the ground, holding her wrists down. Laughing, he said, "Ha...pinned you!"

Alice was laughing hard when Evan pinned her. He had played her game and didn't ask questions like Jasper used to. She reached up and kissed him on the nose. "I love you." She giggled as she layed her head back down on the ground and looked up at Evan into his eyes. His eyes still were not fully golden, it would take a full year for that, but they were somewhere in the middle and Alice loved to look at them. "You wanted to talk to me?" She asked him. Alice rolled over on her stomach and saw one small flower and picked it. She held the flower close and looked at it's beauty.

A broad smile passed Evan's lips as Alice kissed his nose and told him that she loved him. She was truly the most beautiful person he had ever known, human or otherwise. Her beauty came from within; her personality radiated out into her physical beauty. Alice was gorgeous inside and out, there was no arguing that.
As she rolled onto her stomach, picking a flower in the process, he sat on his knees and took her hands gently. "Alice, I want to talk about us," he said softly, hoping that it would not frighten her about how serious this conversation was turning.

Alice giggled and picked another flower. "What about us?" She asked him. However Alice knew where this was going, she had seen it all in her vision, but this time she thought she knew how she would answer. Alice picked more flowers and started to make a head wreath with them. "Do you want to talk about how amazingly happy you make me? How you fill me with joy? How I love you to the tenth degree?" She giggled. Alice had finished the wreath of flowers and placed them upon Evan's head. "Perfect" She whispered and bit her bottom lip smiling.

Evan smiled as Alice finished her wreath and placed it on his head. This was his Alice, the smiling, bright girl he had fallen in love with the moment he met her in England. Smiling, he took her hand and kissed it softly. He knew what he was doing now; there was no more nervousness inside of him. Of one thing he was completely sure, he loved Alice. She completed him unlike anyone else in the world. Evan had finally found his other half. "Alice, you are everything to me. From the moment I first saw you on the street in London, I knew that you were special and had to belong to someone who appreciated every little thing about you, from your quirky sense of humor to the way you smile when you're happy," he begain. Standing up, he motioned for her to wait right where she was. He ran all the way back to the mansion and retrieved what he was coming for, running back to Alice in less than two minutes. Kneeling before her on one knee, he presented her with an unbloomed lily in his hand. Gently, he peeled back one petal and said, "I love the way you love everyone around you." Peeling back another, "I love your beautiful smile, even when you're up to something." Revealing another he said, "I love your ability to use your gifts for the better." Letting the fourth petal loose he said, "I adore your heart and how it loves endlessly." Moving the fifth down, he murmured, "I love you, therefore I will never hurt you because you hold my heart." Pulling the last petal down into place, he revealed the ring he had delicately placed in the center. "I love you Mary Alice Cullen, so I am asking you to be my wife."Evan knew how Alice's visions worked, so he knew she would have seen the proposal coming, but she would not have seen this proposal. He had planned this one last second in place of his original idea so she would not know how he would propose to her. The ring: todiamonds.com/images/ring_a084_z.jpg

Alice was in shock, she couldn't move. She just watched as Evan got down on one knee and said everything he said, it was perfect. "I...I..." She was speechless. Evan was everything Alice wanted, caring, sweet, loving, handsome. He had made her happy when everything around her was sad, he had been her light in the dark. She knew what she had to do, Alice had to sign her divorce papers from Jasper and start over, and she had to start over with Evan Williams.
Alice took a deep breathe and let it out. "Evan Williams, it would be my honor to become your wife." She giggled as she jumped on him and kissed him. Alice hadn't been this happy since the day she met Jasper. But that was in the past, she looked at Evan, he was her future.

Evan laughed as Alice jumped on him and kissed him, happy that she accepted his proposal. After a few seconds, he broke their kiss and smiled. "I think we need to put this on you then," he said, pulling the ring from the flower and placing it on her finger. "It's a perfect fit." Evan was relieved to know that Alice wanted to spend eternity with him. She was all he would ever want; now or ever. In her, he had found the other half he had been missing the entire time.
"You have just made me the happiest man alive," he murmured and kissed her forehead softly. "I love you." Alice was it for him. She was going to be his wife and that made him realize how far he had really come since his transformation. Alice had given him a new life and outlook on everything, including love.

Alice sighed, everything was perfect. "I love you more." She giggled as she pulled Evan down to the ground with her. Alice hadn't planned a wedding for herself in years, maybe even longer. She was so used to planning for everyone else that she hadn't thought about what she wanted. "I have to start planning. And we need to tell the family." She said wondering how her family would take the news of her and Evans engagement. She knew Edward, Bella and Nessie would be thrilled for her and how happy she was, however she didn't know how the others would take the news. "You have made me the happiest girl in the world Evan!." She laughed as she rolled over him.

Lying on the forest ground with Alice in his arms, Evan could think of no place he would rather be right then. She had said 'yes' and they were going to get married. There was no better moment for him than right then. "Of course we'll tell your family," he whispered. "I know that they will be delighted to know that you are happy." And that was all that really mattered. Evan knew that some members of the family would be more welcoming of the news than others; particularly Alice's twin Edward, his wife Bella, and their daughter Renesmee. All three were welcoming and kind to Evan, even accepting him as someone Alice loved. The one person he worried most about was Alice's sister, Rosalie. All the vibes he got from her were not good ones.
But, he pushed aside all of the worrisome thoughts to live in this moment with Alice. Lovingly, he put his finger under her chin and brought her lips to his, kissing her softly.

Alice rolled over on her stomach and looked Evan in the face. "Promise me you will never do what Jasper did. Because I was hurt once and I can't go through that again." Alice asked him. She knew Evan would never do anything like Jasper but she wanted to ask him anyway just to be safe. "I know I am just being crazy right now, but I need you to promise me." She said to him.
Then Alice started to think about the wedding. "How about something small, during the day. Like in the afternoon." She giggled. "Like at tea time." She said in her best british accent and laughing. "We will have a tea party wedding." She laughed some more and her british accent.

Looking into Alice's eyes, he knew her fears were justified. Jasper had done the most hurtful thing a husband could do. "Alice, I promise on all that I am, have been, or will ever be that I will never hurt you the way Jasper did. I love you and only you," he vowed. "You have stolen my heart and I willingly let you because it is yours."
Listening to Alice use her British accent made him chuckle. This was a part of Alice that he loved and adored. He remembered the first time he ever heard her attempt at a British accent. That thought made him laugh a little more. "Alight," he agreed to her plans for their wedding. He knew that as long as Alice was happy, he would be happy as well. "You, my dear, have an adorable accent." His own natural accent flowed naturally from his lips.
