It had been a few days since Lucy arrived permanently in Forks and Kenzie was getting anxious that she meet Jon so that she could get to know him and approve of him as her boyfriend. However, he had been tied up lately with things down in La Push, so a meeting hadn't been possible yet. Kenzie didn't let that get her down though because she had her best friend in the entire world there with her now.
Kenzie flopped onto her bed where Lucy was sitting and said, "Do you remember when we were about seven-years-old and this little boy kept taunting me because I had lost my two front teeth, do you remember what you said to him?"

Lucy was sitting on Kenzie’s bed tapping her foot as she waited loosing herself in when she was going to meet Jon. It had been a few days and she had luckily gotten out of helping her parents unpack the house. They wanted her to have her bonding time with Kenzie and time to catch up. Lucy was brought out of her thoughts by Kenzie asking a question about a day from their childhood. Lucy laughed as she remembered what Kenzie was refering to. “Oh how could I not?” Lucy bent over holding her stomach as she laughed. “If memory serves I told him that if he did not shut up I would make him loose his front teeth, and that he would look exactly like all the things he had been calling you.” Lucy laughed again shaking her head at the memory.
Lucy could be considered a violent child but her defense was that she was protecting her friend. She never had a problem with anyone until they tried to hurt her friends or family. Lucy laughed as she remembered something else from that day, “Oh man Kenzie remember how he didn’t believe me?” Lucy nearly fell off of the bed laughing, “I remember diving on top of him and punching him. Our teacher had to pull me off of the brat.” Lucy smiled at that thought that could sum up their friendship. She would always be there for Kenzie and Lucy knew that Kenzie would always do the same. They would be friends to the end and there probably would never be anything that could change that.

Kenzie died laughing at the memory of Lucy jumping on that kid. They always had each others backs and Lucy had taken the fall for that one with a week's worth of lunch detention. However, Kenzie refused to leave her side and had detention along with her. "Oh the good days," she mused. "And then dance classes we went through all the way until I moved here. By the way, you should totally join my dance company here. All the girls are great and you would love them."
Dance had been the way she and Lucy began their friendship and something they had shared for the last twelve years together. Many recitals were done as a duet as they got older into the advanced dancing classes, like jazz, hip-hop, and advanced ballet. "And if you join now, it'll be just in time for our spring showcase!"

As frustrated as Lucy had become the last few days of going on without seeing a hide or hair of this Jon, she was having a blast with her friend. Lucy was running through her days of dancing while Kenzie had still lived in Seattle. They had easily been two of the better dancers with the company that had danced with. Lucy sat up straight with a smile, “Me join dance? Hmm..” Lucy pretended to think about it for a moment and tapped the side of her face with one finger. She then laughed shaking her head at her friend, “No duh, I’d love to! Gah, all you have to do is tell me when and where practice is at.” Lucy felt herself lighten up immediately at the thought of dancing again. She had not gone long without dancing but it had been long enough that Lucy was itching to join another troupe.

"I knew you'd be up for it girl," Kenzie joked, smiling. It was good to know she would be dancing with her best friend again since they had not danced together in two years. And two years was too long in her book. "We meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights from six to around eight thirty and then Wednesday and Friday afternoons from three to five." Dance was a way of life for Kenzie and Lucy; something they had done for ninety percent of it. Kenzie knew she definitely wanted to continue dance and perhaps become an instructor one day.
Kenzie got up from her bed and went over to her desk where she picked up something and turned around to Lucy. "Do you remember the first recital we danced as a duet? My mom got us these," she held out the item in her hand, a small tiara. "She said we were the princesses of the night and she was right."

Lucy felt an intense about of relief as she heard Kenzie list the days and times of practice. As much it sounded like an intense week; compared to other times it was a light load. It really was a relief to have her time scheduled in that way she always thought that something was wrong if she had nothing to do. “I am so looking forward to practice.” Lucy playfully slapped her flat stomach, “I could start pack on the pounds any second now. I need to get back into shape.” It was an obvious joke of course because Kenzie knew as well as Lucy did that neither one of them were fat. The two of them worked out and danced far too much to ever gain weight other then toning their muscles. Lucy smiled as she saw her friend ask about their first duet together and she watched as Kenzie held up a small tiara from that particular night. Lucy laughed as she remembered, “Talk about the good ol’ days eh?”

Clunk. The nippy winter wind nearly smacked Jonathan's door shut for him as he stepped from his Civic parked neatly in the Karters' driveway, but it could have picked up his car and thrown it back to La Push for all he cared. His nerves powered his thoughts screaming with unbelievable intensity- and the worst part was that he didn't know in any way how to, assuming he could calm down at all, try to prepare himself for meeting Lucy. Urg! he groaned pathetically, pulling for the umpteenth time at the thin undershirt he wore over his dark tan cargo shorts. Would he stick out? Huh, dumb question. Of course you'll stick out. You've got about two days before people really start wondering if you're crazy, thanks to your wardrobe, and that's assuming Lucy doesn't think you're crazy for showing up at the front door as a nervous wreck!
He couldn't help but laugh at himself aloud, the dry, frozen air of the onset of the Forks winter making his lip stick to his teeth as he more or less settled himself. It'll be fine, he murmured in his head, finally beginning the trek to the front door while his stomach defiantly did a few backflips in protest. If Kenzie didn't think we'd get along, she wouldn't suggest we meet, would she...? Palms sweating like waterfalls, he nearly smacked himself for thinking such a low thing of her. Wow. Just... wow, Whiteman, he reprimanded himself, taking the step onto the landing outside the front door with more stability than he'd expected of himself. You know Kenzie so much better than that. Don't you dare ever expect that out of her again.
Jon lingered just before the door, taking a moment to sigh deeply before taking the plunge. It will be fine, he laughed at himself. It will be fine. Now knock on the door and go have some fun.
His fingers met the wooden door smartly, and he casually let his hands come to rest in the pockets of his shorts, another deep sigh brushing its way through his lungs. It'll be fine; it'll be fun...

Before Kenzie could reply to Lucy's comment on the good old days, she heard three raps on the door downstairs. Without even looking, she knew who it was. "He's here!" she squealed happily. "Stay right here and I'll go downstairs and bring him up." With that, she flitted out her bedroom door and down the stairs to the front door, where Jon was waiting for her.
She threw open the door and smiled warmly at her boyfriend. Her boyfriend. The words sounded better and better each time she said them in her mind and out loud. "Hi baby," she said, taking his hand and leading him inside the house, shutting the door behind him. Once the door was shut, she reached up on her tip-toes and kissed him softly on the lips. "Lucy's upstairs in my room, so we can go up there and meet her."

Kenzie had started to reply to Lucy when there were three knocks on the front door. Kenzie immediately squealed in delight over the simple fact that Jon was at the door. ‘Geeze this guy must be good to get that excited’. She then told Lucy to wait in the room while she went to get him. Lucy watched her friend practially sprint down the stairs. Lucy got off of the bed suddenly not in the mood to stay in one place and began walking around to floor in a figure eight motion. Kenzie’s warning about bringing physical harm to Jon flashed into Lucy’s mind. She growled to herself as she paced around the room and thought that there could be trouble if Kenzie was so serious about a guy.
Lucy grumbled again and began muttering almost under her breath, “Take a chill pill Lucy you haven’t even seen him yet. Kenzie could be right about him, I mean Jon could be the one for her.” She still could not keep the thoughts of Jerron out of her mind and everything that he had done and tried to do to Kenzie. Lucy at that moment wanted to punch through a wall. She could feel her pace speeding as Lucy tried to refrain from stomping throughout Kenzie’s room. “Chill,” Lucy ordered herself, “there is no need to bust out with itching powder just yet.”

Jon could hear quick, soft footsteps from behind the door, and his grin was an unstoppable wave that pushed itself across his face in the promise of whose face he knew was on the other side. And- oh, he was worried about something before? Huh, that was dumb if he had been.
"Hey there, beautiful," he said back blissfully, the grin still dominating his expression mercilessly as she took his hand and led him in. He was almost woozy as she kissed him, his body overwhelming him with miraculous, wonderful lightheadedness as some sort of backwards punishment for staying away in La Push for so long. He sighed blissfully as she lowered herself, and he had to blink a few times before being decent enough to reply. "Well," he replied, shrugging and twining their fingers together before grinning, "I'm ready for this if you are."

Kenzie smiled as Jon said he was ready to meet Lucy. This was something she had been looking forward to for the last few weeks. She took his hand and lead him upstairs to her room, where she found Lucy pacing the room muttering to herself. It almost made Kenzie laugh as she walked in. "Don't worry," she whispered to Jon in a giggling tone. "She does that all the time...it's just her process before she meets someone so she doesn't go crazy."
She opened the door a little wider and cleared her throat. "Ahem...Luce.." she said, stiffling a small chuckle in her throat. She knew that Lucy would get along great with Jon...they both went through their nervous processes.

Lucy was pondering what her round of revenge could be with Jon when someone cleared their throat. She jolted out of her reverie and turned to see Kenzie wearing a stupid grin on her face which meant that Kenzie had seen her pacing. Lucy’s attention then turned to the young man standing next to her best friend. She carefully looked him up and down as he and Kenzie stood partially in the doorway of Kenzie’s room. ‘Damn’ Lucy thought to herself Jon did not set of any alarms inside at first glance like Jerron had which was a plus in the strangers favor. She sighed and remembered Kenzie’s wishes for them to get alon, and for Lucy not to pull any pranks on Jon. Lucy put on the friendliest smile that she could muster and walked up to the two. She walked up to Jon and held out her hand, “I’m Lucy the best friend.”

Jon could only chuckle through his nose as Kenzie explained. It was all well and groovy when she needed him to be confident for her parents; but now he was going to meet Lucy. He really had nothing to go on but an open mind and a prayer or two- so why the heck not just try to breathe?
He grinned as they stepped into the room, Kenzie gently reminding her friend of their presence. He saw Lucy turn, giving him the lookdown, and he couldn't stifle a quiet, amused chuckle as she did so in a way that struck him as skeptical. Wait, you probably shouldn't laugh. She's probably been as hurt by Jerron- he growled the word in his mind- as Kenzie has.
"I'm Jon, the boyfriend," he replied with an equally friendly smile and a shake of Lucy's unsurprisingly cool hand.

Lucy allowed her hand to fall to her side as she grinned at Jon’s response. ‘At least he can keep a remotely cool head. He also has a good handshake, damn it! Kenzie might be right about him. Just be nice Luce.’ Lucy went and plopped on the edge of Kenzie’s bed and leaned back watching the two. She knew the silent smirk in her eyes would probably make Kenzie get slightly jumpy which caused her grin to grow slightly. Lucy however did not know how Jon would react and waited for a few seconds. She finally turned to Jon and asked, “So why don’t you tell me about yourself?” This was a bit of Lucy’s own test to see what Jon would be able to say for an open ended question, and honestly a part of Lucy wanted Jon to crack under pressure. She knew though he probably wouldn’t as she kept mentally reminding herself to be pleasant.

Jon glanced out of the corner of his eye at Kenzie. This Lucy seemed to a little more devious than he'd been expecting...
"Well..." he trailed, off shrugging nonchalantly with a playful frown. Where am I supposed to go with that?! his nerves roared in his head as he forced a pleasant grin across his face. "I'm nineteen, and I'm from La Push. I graduated in the spring, and, uh... well, I'm currently on an intense inward search to think of more things to tell my girlfriend's best friend about me," he replied, chuckling lightly towards the end. Humor. Good choice, cheered a voice in his head. Humor never hurt anyone.
"So how about you?" he asked innocently after a pause, motioning vaguely towards her with a hand. "Tell me something about Lucy," he requested with a smile.
