Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you... Renesmee Cullen has existed on this earth for fifty years today. But it is not The Cullen coven who are wishing her well and singing the melody to her.
happy birthday, renesmee, happy birthday to you...
Ten years ago on this day The Volturi fell. After the initial battle, The Cullens had assumed that their life would return to how it once had been, peaceful and quiet, but Aro Volturi had other plans. He was threatened, The Cullens grew more spoken of in the vampiric world, tales of them filtered down through the grape vine, casually chatted about as a conversation piece. The Olympic Coven was vaguely aware of their growing fame, but it was just word of mouth. They were seen as no more powerful, no one saught them out.
Aro sent a message to The Cullens, that in ten days, he would return to that ill-fated spot in the clearing, with The Guard, to collect Renesmee. Renesmee was different, she was not the usual and although she apparently posed no threat, Aro found himself anxious at not knowing. The army was gathered once again, the covens who had faught to protect Renesmee some fifty years ago reassembled, faced the guard. Only, by this time, the numbers had grew. Nomads had joined in the fight, covens had grew larger and more of the immortal wanted to fight. Not only were The Volturi guard defeated, but Aro, Caius and Marcus were torn apart, but not without loss.
A number of the vampires aiding The Cullens were taken by the battle, nothing left of their remains but ash blowing in the wind. This ash was nearly the fate of Edward and Jasper Cullen. The two were very nearly killed in the fight, as Edward was distracted, mistaking his wife to be in trouble. So, Jasper, too, was distracted, as he almost witnessed his brothers existence being extinguished. All over Renesmee. The fight was won, and both Jasper and Edward still lived, but the family could never feel the same toward the child. Alice was cold and accusing, despite the fact that Renesmee could not help it. Bella, although once holding a fierce love for her daughter, could never look at the girl the same way, knowing that it was because of her that the reason for her very existence was nearly gone. The others shied away from her, as if she were cursed. Even Rosalie resigned from her - the child she had so wanted for herself.
The shape shifters grew again with the attack, responding to the number of vampires. Jacob and Renesmee were both the same now, forever frozen at seventeen, and very much in love. As Renesmee's family became cold, she grew more and more confused as to why, until one day, she broke the silence in hysteria, unable to take it anymore. That was the day that she left The Cullens, realising they blamed her for the deaths that day, and for the deaths that nearly occurred. Renesmee went to the only place she knew would accept her - to Jacob, all too aware of the hostility a pack of wolves would hold for a vampire hybrid. The Cullens have moved back and forth numerous times since the fight, and now, once again, reside in Forks, not two miles from their estranged Renesmee - and the extremely vengeful Jacob.
