Bella had been somewhat lonely over the last couple of days since Renesmee and Jacob left for their honeymoon. Not having her daughter there made her slightly anxious because she was so used to having her near, but she knew that Jacob was keeping her safe. That she knew for a fact because Jacob would never let any harm come to Renesmee. He had never let any harm come to her before nor would he ever.
Deciding to do something productive rather than mope around all day, Bella grabbed her keys and went out the door to go for a hunt since it had been a while since her last hunt. Quickly she made her way into the forest to get away from everything. Within twenty minutes, she caught two doe and was full. As she stood up from her prey, she caught the scent of someone else in the forest, someone unfamiliar. From the scent, it wasn't human or wolf either. It was vampire.

Ryssa grumbled to herself as she looked around the forest that she was trudging through. She had to admit there was a certain charm to the new environment, but nothing could compare to the dry desert. Ryssa muttered to herself, “It was probably a mistake to come here.” Ryssa also knew that she probably could have run to the nearby town, but she was not aware of what was there. The further she continued into the forest the stronger a particular scent sent became. She knew it was not an animal; Ryssa began to try and read the creature in case she could deem it as an evil human. After a few seconds of nothing Ryssa quickly realized that the creature was not human and that was when she realized that the scent was that of a fellow vampire.
Ryssa smiled to herself at the potential there was in meeting a fellow vampire. Ryssa felt the wind kick up behind her and blow past her to where she smelled the other vampire. Interest in the situation was beginning to take over as she was wanting to learn more about the other creature obviously hunting for his or her next meal. Ryssa made her decision. She could feel the wind kick up again and this time she shifted herself into the wind so that her sent would grow stronger to the other vampire. She did not know if the other vampire would be trouble and Ryssa slowly walked with the wind so that the other vampire could know she was approaching.

Bella could feel the scent drawing closer with the wind bringing it. It was getting stronger by the minute and Bella felt her nerves tense as it neared. When she finally caught view of the other vampire, it was a female. She had fiery red hair, pale skin, and a slight frame. In the back of Bella's mind, she immediately thought of Victoria, but shoved that thought aside because she knew that Victoria was dead and had been for over thirty years. Edward and the rest of the family had seen to that as well as the Quileute wolves.
Slowly, she unflexed her nerves and stood up straight and calm to greet the newcomer. "Hello, I'm Bella Cullen; you must be new to the area." With all the recent events, it was hard for Bella to keep her calm, but she did so with all the grace of an experienced vampire.

After a few tense moments of not putting a face to the vampire she smelled Ryssa found herself facing a fellow female vampire. Ryssa studied the other for a quick moment and watched as an odd look crossed over her face. She could feel herself frown but she did not feel a strong compulsion to ask the other vampire what the problem was, because it seemed that Ryssa blinked and the look was gone. The other vampire introduced herself and Ryssa shifted her weight to take a more relaxed stance. While she could not read the type of vampire that this Bella was; this woman did not seem as though she meant any harm. Then Ryssa felt the left side of her mouth tilt up into a smirk at Bella’s statement of being new.
Ryssa nodded her head, “Yes I am new. My name is Ryssa Adamson. It is interesting to meet another of similar taste. To be honest I had not realized all of this area had been claimed. There does not seem to be enough of a human population to sustain many.” Ryssa was a partial vampire in her life she would eat the humans she felt deserved it, and she knew that it was far different then anything she had ever come across. Ryssa’s last statement was a subtle test for this Bella to see what sort of food chain she saw the world as.

Bella listened intently as the new vampire introduced herself. Ryssa, now that's an interesting name... she mused, almost laughing at herself when she thought of her own child's name. Then there's Renesmee...so I'm all for the unique names. The newcomer didn't seem to mean any harm, so Bella's nerves relaxed even more as she took a couple steps to close the gap between herself and Ryssa. Hearing the tail end of Ryssa's statement caught Bella's attention though. She was not a vegetarian, obviously...but there was something that did not meet the eye about her that Bella could not put her finger on.
"Actually, I'm not the only one in the area," she explained. "My family and I maintain a permanent residence not too far from here, living fairly close to the humans. We're...how do I explain this easily? Well, we're vegetarian. We only live off the blood of animals so that we can blend in easier with the humans." Bella didn't want to go into much detail just yet about her own child and the fact that her daughter was married to a wolf. That was far to complicated for only just meeting someone new.

Ryssa watched Bella as she had introduced herself. She saw a spark to Bella’s eyes when Ryssa spoke her name. She loved her name but now was not the time nor the place to reflect on her glimpses at her human life. Ryssa listened closely as Bella explained her living arrangements and Ryssa felt her curiosity piqued at how many others lived in this area. Ryssa lost herself for a moment at how little she actually knew of this Bella and whether or not the rest of her family could be trouble.
Ryssa was startled from her thoughts as Bella explained her diet. Ryssa processed what Bella had said about being a vegetarian vampire and laughed. A genuine smile was plain on her face as she spoke of her own diet, “I suppose by your standards I am a vegetarian as well, but I do cheat with the occasional hamburger and steak. I enjoy my solitude so I suppose fitting in is not as important for me.”
Ryssa then began to loose her thoughts as they turned back to Bella’s mention of her family. Ryssa’s only real family had been the one she had been born into; she did not consider Travis a family member or she would have spent more then just a simple decade traveling with him. The idea of a family of vampires, vegetarian vamps no less; Ryssa smiled to herself at the term, was an interesting concept. Ryssa looked to Bella and tilted her head to the side in reflection, “How large is your family?”

Bella was not as shocked by Ryssa's explanation of her version of vegetarianism. There were tons of vampires out there that cheated occasionally; even Edward, Jasper, and Emmett had a few slip-ups of their own in the past. Although, Bella, Rosalie, and Alice never had. "I suppose everyone has slip-ups every now and then," she mused.
At Ryssa's question about her family, she tried to think of the best way to explain their rather large family the easiest way that would not take five years to explain. "Well," she began, "first there is my husband Edward and I, then our daughter Renesmee and her husband Jacob. Our extended family is Edward's siblings that are all married; Alice and Jasper then Rosalie and Emmett; then Edward's adopted parents Carlisle and Esme. Our friends Raine and Arkan also live nearby. But those are all the vampires that live with and around our family. Then I have two human cousins, Alexandra and Veronica, that live with us as well." Bella paused to take a breath, though she technically didn't need to, but she wanted to give Ryssa's ear a break.

Ryssa frowned as Bella mentioned a slip up with regards to diets. She wondered if she should explain herself better to this obviously different vampire. Before Ryssa could correct Bella, she went off into a full description of her family. Ryssa mulled over all of the information that Bella had just given her. She realized that as a vampire Bella did not require air, but Bella had probably meant to give her a moment to process everything. Ryssa counted the number in her head twelve vampires, at that point self-survival began to play in the back of her mind. She was extremely out numbered and though she did not know this Bella woman well enough she could understand the sense of family. Ryssa voiced her line of thinking, “That is a large family; pretty impressive that you keep twelve of us under one roof.”
If Ryssa’s eating habits offended and upset one member, something like that spread like wild fire through the other’s and she could find herself in a threatening situation. Although it was best if it was told up front what she usually ate, so that if it would be a problem then she could have a chance to bow away gracefully. Ryssa watched Bella for a moment to make a last second decision whether or not she should tell the truth. “Slip-ups imply that they were accidents.”

Bella laughed at Ryssa's comment of fitting twelve vampires under one roof. "Actually, all twelve of us don't live in the same house. Edward and I have our own house, as do Renesmee and Jacob, and Raine and Arkan have their own home as well. The rest of the family live in the Cullen mansion," she explained. "I suppose we could all live under one roof, but some of us prefer a little more privacy than others." At that she giggled, thinking about Rosalie and Emmett, who had no shame about their relationship compared to herself and Edward, who liked their moments alone.
When Ryssa mentioned the "accident" part of her comment, Bella cocked an eyebrow up to one side. "Do you intentionally hunt down humans to feed off of?" she asked, curious of this woman's said feeding habits.

Ryssa laughed as Bella explained the living arrangements. “That makes far more sense. I would imagine with all of the married couples there could be a lot of…” Ryssa trailed off for a moment before clearing her throat, “tension.” She laughed at the joke she was implying hoping that Bella would understand what she had meant. The next words that Bella spoke were words that she hoped not to, but expected to hear. Ryssa scratched the back of her head with a sigh out of pure habit as she thought of the best way to answer Bella’s accusing question.
Ryssa could only think of her nonchalant response and gave an evident shrug, “Just the ones that deserve it. I guess I would fit into the area of a carnivore that knows when to appreciate a few vegetables now and again.” Ryssa then stood patiently waiting for Bella to respond. Ryssa was waiting for the day that she could at least meet another remotely like her. It seemed as though this Cullen family was the closest she could get, but they would probably be too disgusted with her human hunting activities.

Bella started laughing out loud at Ryssa sarcasm when referring to married life. "Yes, well there was a tad too much tension around the mansion for Edward and I's taste, so his parents built us a house. Rose and Em can get...a bit carried away sometimes. Jasper and Alice aren't so bad, but they're...well, having problems right now." That was the understatement of the century. Jasper had knocked up Bella's cousin with a half-vampire child that was likely to kill her and Alice had brought home Evan from England. Things were getting far too complicated in the Cullen household for Bella's liking, but they were her family.
"Oh, I see..." she said of Ryssa's hunting habits. "Edward had a stint a while back where he did that. He said it was before he ever met me though. But, how do you know who is bad and who isn't?" she asked, genuinely curious.

Ryssa laughed with Bella and stopped while Bella continued on with the descriptions about the couples. She herself had never been married she was only an old teen when she had been introduced to her new life. Ryssa had suspected that her creator, Travis, wished for her to remain at his side but she refused to prey on innocents. Even as a vampire Ryssa could still feel the moral compass inside of her telling her it was wrong to harm the prey Travis desired the most. Ryssa held the frown from her face as she heard Bella’s tone when mentioning Jasper and Alice. For the moment she decided it was inappropriate to ask about the troubles that this Jasper and Alice were having.
Ryssa fought back her shock as Bella’s curiosity was genuine instead of the disgust that she was expecting. “Well I have been in this particular feeding stint about six decades now, give or take a few years. I have started to lose count which I am sure that you can understand that.” Ryssa felt her jaw clench slightly as she thought of her response to Bella’s question. “It is a sensitive subject,” Ryssa sighed and thought how to proceed, “It took a decade or so for me to first really get a handle on what it was. My own stupidity I suppose.” Ryssa made a face as she shook her head ruefully. Ryssa gave another sigh and continued, “I guess you could think of it as an internal bullshit meter. Someone sets it off enough, and I wait until they are alone. I also have been known to hack into a prison database or two.”
Ryssa mentally swallowed as she thought of human blood. While it was true she had self control Ryssa could not and would not lie about the fact she preferred human blood. Ryssa’s exception to drinking human blood were the humans, such as children, that were innocent. “I do not suppose the matriarch and the patriarch of your family takes kindly to my sort of lifestyle.” Ryssa already knew the answer to that question, but she had been surprised once already, hell what was once more?

Bella listened as Ryssa explained how she knew who was good and who was bad. She even laughed at her 'internal bullshit' comment. She supposed that Edward's mind reading could be classified as that since he could read every thought that went through someone's mind. "I supposed a power like that would come in handy for things like that," she replied. "My husband, Edward, reads minds so he knew what people were thinking."
The thought of his mind reading brought back a memory of the night he saved her from the guys in Port Angeles...he had heard what they were thinking about doing to her. It took all of his self-control to not kill them on the spot, so he said. At the time, she didn't know what he meant, but when she became a vampire, she understood the urge and thirst for human blood. But, she had resisted and never touched a human before.
"Actually, Carlisle is very accepting of all kinds of people. We don't accept those who just feed on humans for the hell of it though," she said, her mind automatically flickering to Will and Crystal. Those two would be lucky to survive the next few weeks with the entire Cullen family hunting them.

Ryssa felt herself perk up at Bella’s mentioning of her husband’s power. Ryssa then laughed as she thought about it, “Ah so your husband has an extreme bullshit reader then.” The more Ryssa thought about it though the more she became slightly uncomfortable with the notion of someone reading all of her thoughts. Ryssa listened to Bella talk about the father figure in the family and she frowned as Bella finished. She could feel an open ending to what Bella was saying but knowing how much she hated to talk bout family Ryssa kept her questions to herself.
Ryssa felt her jaw tighten as unbidden memories from her first years as a vampire came into her mind. She felt her hands turn into fist at her side and Ryssa’s snapped her eyes shut, she could feel a snarl building inside of her chest. Christopher. Ryssa bowed her head and tried to speak calmly through her teeth, "It was nice to meet you Bella Cullen, but I must go.” Ryssa turned on a dime and stalked away from what she was sure to be a very puzzled vampire. Ryssa nashed her teeth together trying to remain calm; she promised herself that she would come back perhaps another time when she could collect her calm.
