Walking along the beach slowly, Vanessa was kind of sad. School was starting again, and Vanessa wasn't looking forward to it. The Fork's Birthday Bash had been awesome, and she had met a new guy. William. He had seemed really nice, and if it hadn't been for the strict 12:00 curfew, she would have stayed and talked longer. And, without realizing it, she had left without giving him her phone number or address. And, guessing from the age he looked, he didn't go to Forks High School. It really bummed her out. He said he wouldn't be staying long, so she was somewhat worried she would not see him again. For some reason, it got to her.
Slumping down onto the wet sand, she sighed. She didn't know why she was so worried about seeing William again, she just was. It was something she couldn't seem to control. It was strange. Looking out into the ocean, she was reminded of Lucy and Katelyn. She hadn't seen Lucy since the Forks Birthday Bash and Katelyn since they had met here at the beach. At this rate, she was never going to make any friends, like permanetly.

William was riding towards a place called La Push. Somewhere that he wasn’t sure of which ironically was extremely close to Forks. An area that he had given a once over many times before traveling out of town to see what else had been in the area. That’s when he had first gone to Port Angeles and there had met a young woman named Sadie. William found himself in the parking lot looking over a small beach. He swung his leg over his motorcycle and noticed that his motorcycle was not the only vehicle in the lot. William once again decided to take his helmet with him as he made his way down to the beach to stretch out. As he walked along the beach his thoughts went back to the party he had been at and the short time he had spent there.
By the time that William had arrived at the celebration it already seemed to be dieing down slightly but he had still met an interesting girl. Her name had been Vanessa and he had stupidly let her go home without so much as a phone number exchange. William looked up to see how far he had gotten and realized that he was not the only one on the beach after all. As William got closer he had to wonder at the power of the mind when he saw that it was Vanessa. With a small grin William sauntered over and noticed that she didn’t seem to be in a bright mood. He plopped down next to her with an errant wish that she wouldn’t think he was some stranger and remember dancing with him at the party. “So what’s up Cinderella? Did the limo turn back into a pumpkin?”

Hearing someone approach her, Vanessa did not look up, figuring it was just one of the La Push residents. However, when she heard someone plop down next to her, she decided to look up. Smiling, she saw the person she had just been thinking about. William. “So what’s up Cinderella? Did the limo turn back into a pumpkin?” Laughing, she replied. "No, but the wicked mother gave her a long list of chores when she got home for being home after curfew." It was true. She had gotten a two page list of things that needed to be cleaned in her house for being twelve minutes late for curfew. She had felt horrible for just leaving William the other night without any explanation. "Sorry for just leaving by the way. My mom is super stirict about curfews." She rolled her eyes lightly. She had always hated her mother's strict 10 o'clock curfew. Her mother had shockingly extended it till 12 and Vanessa had still broken it, pushing her normal curfew back to 9 o'clock. It was just plain stupid to her.

William grinned a little brighter as Vanessa did not seem to mind the new company. He had a good time several nights ago at the party. Vanessa laughed at William’s question and responded with, "No, but the wicked mother gave her a long list of chores when she got home for being home after curfew." William scratched the back of his head with a sigh, “I’m sorry about that if I was the reason you were late. Any errands that you need help with? My bike can go pretty damn fast, but doesn’t carry a lot. I could pick stuff up for you.” Vanessa then apologized for leaving the way that she had and William waved a hand in the air.
He shrugged and spoke again, “I wouldn’t even worry about it. I guess that is just something that I forgot about was the whole curfew thing; benefits of living on your own.” William did feel bad about Vanessa getting in trouble for not being home on time.

“I’m sorry about that if I was the reason you were late. Any errands that you need help with? My bike can go pretty damn fast, but doesn’t carry a lot. I could pick stuff up for you.” Vanessa shook her head. "Are you kidding me? The reason I was late was because I walked home....very slowly. The chores are worth the extra half an hour of free time. Plus, I already finished them. They were pretty easy, vacuuming, cooking, hooking up the DVD player that my mother seems to stupid to figure out.." She smiled slightly, and looked over to him, pushing away her hair as it blew into her face.
“I wouldn’t even worry about it. I guess that is just something that I forgot about was the whole curfew thing; benefits of living on your own.” She laughed. "Really William, its not a big deal! This happens all the time. My mother loves to find any reason she can to ground me. I am just glad I ran into you again..." She said, smiling and blushing slightly.

William nodded in understanding when Vanessa explained why she was late. It sounded like she did not need to put up with too much punishment but William still felt a little bad. He did laugh when Vanessa mentioned that she had to hook up a DVD player that her mother had not been able to get. William nodded grinning in sympathetic pain, “Yeah I can understand that one, my mom did not have much of a brain for that stuff, neither did my dad. Seems like it was either me or one of my sisters that was stuck putting things together.” The wind had blown hair into Vanessa’s face but she brushed it aside with a small smile. She then assured William that he did not have to worry about it. He listened at Vanessa mentioned that her mother looked for reasons to ground her; that was something different for William. “Well hopefully she does it out of love.”
Vanessa then said that she was glad that she had run into him again and he did not miss the smile or the faint blush. William grinned at Vanessa, “Well this time we hang out I promise to try and get you home well within your curfew.”

“Yeah I can understand that one, my mom did not have much of a brain for that stuff, neither did my dad. Seems like it was either me or one of my sisters that was stuck putting things together.” Vanessa laughed a little. "My mother doesn't seem to have a brain, not just for that stuff, but at all.." Vanessa smirked a little. It was true. If she had an issue with homework, she had to figure it out alone, her mother even had issues working a dishwasher. When William mentioned her mother hopefully doing it out of love, she laughed. "You obviously don't know my mother." She was never really sad about her mother's issues or that she took them out on Vanessa, she just always found ways to joke about it.
“Well this time we hang out I promise to try and get you home well within your curfew.” Vanessa quickly slipped her phone out of her pocket. 5:30. "Don't worry, we have about 4 and a half hours. I doubt it you will want to hang out with me here for 4 and a half hours.." She smiled a little. She would not blame him if he didn't. There wasn't much to do at La Push beaches, and 4 and a half hours was a long time!

William grinned as Vanessa seemed to be entertained by his joking truth about having to put things together. The tone of the conversation changed slightly when William heard Vanessa say, "You obviously don't know my mother." William shrugged, “I can guess by the sounds of it not knowing your mom is a good thing.” Vanessa checked her phone most likely for time, William’s guess was affirmed when Vanessa said she had a few hours until she had to be home. She then said something about how he would not want to hang out with her for, four and a half hours with a little smiled added on.
William grinned again, “No you are probably right, but this sure as hell beats unpacking my apartment.” It was true that they probably weren’t going to hang out for the next four hours, but William did not mind putting off unpacking as long as he would be able.

When William said, “I can guess by the sounds of it not knowing your mom is a good thing.” Vanessa realized she must be getting somewhat annoying with her complaining about her mother. She also figured it must be a pretty bad subject to talk about with a new friend. "I'm sorrry, I don't mean to be a downer or anything..." She quickly tried to changed the subject. "So, was the party totally suckish without me there?" She said, grinning slightly. She loved teasing people, and William seemed like he could tease back, which was just what she was in the mood for.
“No you are probably right, but this sure as hell beats unpacking my apartment.” Instantly, Vanessa's mood brightened, and she looked up happily. "Your staying!!" She smiled brightly and resisted the urge to hug him and do a happy dance. They had really hit it off, and Vanessa was really happy to have a friend in Forks.

Vanessa started apologizing about being a downer and William shook his head. “Oh don’t worry about it, I can think of things that are worse to talk about.” William almost cridged at the idea of bringing up his own mother in conversation. He knew for a fact it would be far worse then what Vanessa would have to say about her mother. Vanessa stopped William’s train of thoughts by asking if the party was horrible without her. William shrugged, “Actually I didn’t stay long after you left.” He returned her grin slightly, “So it was probably extremely suckish without the both of us there.”
Vanessa then seemed extremely excited by the idea that William was going to be in town for awhile. “Your staying!” William nodded then said, “Um yeah I just got an apartment a few days ago. I’ve been stuck shopping, which is definatly not my thing.” William snorted to himself as he remembered what shopping for a TV and couch had been like.
By the time the evening came around and William finally got to the grocery store he just started pulling random things from the shelves and why he was not surprised when he got home and he had two different milks, three different flavors of chips, a muti-flavored ice cream, none of which he liked, and countless other fairly pointless groceries.

“Oh don’t worry about it, I can think of things that are worse to talk about.” Vanessa frowned. "Oh, um, well maybe we should talk about something different then...I am really in a down mood with school starting and all, so I just don't want to make you be sad and talk about whatever this is..." To be honest, she wasn't too sad about school starting, it was just that William seemed a little weary about bringing up this worse thing, so she just didn't want to get him sad or spend their entire time talking about depressing things. “So it was probably extremely suckish without the both of us there.” Smirking, Vanessa said "Oh, im sure it was. After all, we were the life of the party. " That thought made Vanessa laugh. She had never been much of a partier and the thought of her being the life of the party, was absolutely ridiculous, so ridiculous it almost sent Vanessa into hysterics.
“Um yeah I just got an apartment a few days ago. I’ve been stuck shopping, which is definatly not my thing.” Vanessa smiled. "Well, if you need any help, " She took out a note her mother had written to her about going out and tore of a small piece, quickly writing her phone number. "Call me. Shopping is somewhat my area of expertise."

"Oh, um, well maybe we should talk about something different then...I am really in a down mood with school starting and all, so I just don't want to make you be sad and talk about whatever this is..." William nodded, “Works for me, besides you need to live up your summer vacation.” He then laughed a little to himself and stretched out and laid back in the sand, “Ah! The joys of being out of school.” The conversation temporarily went back to the party as Vanessa jokingly agreed with his comment about it being boring without them there. William was laid back and looking up at the sky as he heard Vanessa start to offer help.
He looked over at her in time to see Vanessa writing her phone number down on a piece of paper. William took the paper and put it into his phone right then, knowing that if he didn’t then he was more then likely going to forget. He sent Vanessa a text message that said, ‘Here’s my number’, and then William tucked his phone back into his front pocket.
William also heard Vanessa say that shopping was her area of expertise and he turned his head to look at her again, “Well if you don’t have plans for a couple hours then we could go now if you want. I know Port Angeles is an hour away but I can make the trip a lot faster, that way we could have a couple hours for looking around.”

Vanessa smiled, watching as William leaned back and stretched out on the sand. "Hey! No need to rub it in now!" She said, pushing him lightly. Looking out towards the water, she smiled. "I bet it is nice, not having to do math, listen to teachers....sounds like heaven." Reaching down, Vanessa stared at her fingers, wiggling them in the sand. La Push beach was one of her favorite places in Washington, it helped her think, and it was helping her get to know William better. Feeling her phone vibrate in her pocket, Vanessa slid it open and read the text. Smiling, she entered William's phone number into her contact book, quickly sending back a short smiley face text message.
“Well if you don’t have plans for a couple hours then we could go now if you want. I know Port Angeles is an hour away but I can make the trip a lot faster, that way we could have a couple hours for looking around.” Vanessa smiled. "Sounds like fun. Ive got five hours, and I need to get some things for school anyway. Port Angeles sounds like fun!" Standing up, quickly brushing off the sand, Vanessa put her hands on her hips, looking down at William and smirking. "Well, come on! I have five hours, not all night!" She rolled her eyes playfully and laughed, waiting for Willliam.
