He had been so busy lately, helping his dad on the ranch. The seasons had the weather becoming colder, and colder and they had a lot of work to do to keep the animals and the family comfortable during their first winter in Forks. Their house was insulated, but poorly so, and that meant that Kaleb and his dad were having to go back and fix someone else's mistake. While they were working, all Kaleb could think about was Lucy. Late yesterday evening, his dad began to notice his lack of concentration and suggested that today he take the afternoon off from working at the house and go and make his daydream a reality, and spend some time with Lucy.
So, as he pulled up in front of her house about noon-ish the next day, he took a deep breath and cut the engine. He jogged up to the front door and rang the door bell. He hoped upon every hope that she was home and that she would have time to spend with him. He really wanted to take her to the city and then see what she wanted to do...a movie? dinner? shopping? He didn't care, he just wanted to get out of this small town, and do whatever Lucy wanted to do...as long as they were together, he didn't care.

Lucy danced around her kitchen making a bowl of chips. She was planning on spending a relaxing afternoon at home with the television and a couple of movies. Lucy also chose to pamper herself a little and take advantage of the fact her Dad would not be home to tease her. Thus twenty minutes after her bowl of chips were made, Lucy was applying a face crème. She pulled her hair back into a messy bun, and finally snuggling into her most comfortable robe plopped in front of the television. Lucy flipped through several channels finding herself instinctively pausing on any channel with something remotely symboling a cowboy.
She stuck her tongue out at the TV, and realized how long it had been since she had, quality time with Kaleb. Lucy did know that it had been with the very good reason that his parents needed his help. It never occurred to Lucy how much it could take to put into getting a farm ready for winter. Lucy switched to a game show just as the door bell rang. “Oh figures.” Lucy got to her feet to answer the door, assuming that it would be someone from Fedex, or UPS.
She opened the door to see her beautiful boyfriend standing at her front door. Lucy smiled at seeing him, and then remembered that she was wearing a pile of crème all over her face. While a slight squeal, Lucy slammed the door shut. Panic set in and without thinking Lucy slapped a hand on either side of her face, only to quickly pull them away covered in crème. She hopped around for a second mouthing, ‘Crap’ repeatedly.
Lucy then realized she had slammed the door on Kaleb, “Um I’ll be right back!” She wiped her hands off on the side of the robe and noticed one of her old binders laying near by. Lucy picked it up, holding it in front of her face and slowly opened the door again. Trying to smile behind the safety of the binder, “Hey Kaleb, how are you?”

Kaleb's face lit up as he saw the door slowly start to open, he hoped that it would be Lucy to greet him with one of his favorite smiles. Instead, he got a short smile, and then a squeal, and then the door slammed in his face. He stood there for a few moments trying to figure out what had just happened, and once the scene ran over in his head a couple more times he realized that yes, she had forgotten that her face was covered in white goo.
Even though he had only seen her for about 10 seconds he had taken in every detail. Her messy hair, the white goo (of course) and the robe that she was wearing, and not to mention the look of pure embarrassment as she slammed the door. A few seconds later he heard her muttering 'crap' over and over, which he assumed that he wasn't supposed to hear. He doubled over and laughed as quietly as he could. This was hysterical to him, but he didn't want her to see him laughing at her. He did his best to suppress the laughter squeaking through his throat, and tried to take a deep breath to calm down. As he began to settle down, the heard her frantically say, "Um, I'll be right back!" He really took a deep breath now and put on a straight face.
He paid more attention as the door opened this time, and saw her still in her robe, still messy hair, but now there was a binder blocking his view of her beautifully creamy face. Then he heard a muffled voice say "Hey Kaleb, how are you?" Seeing as how the binder blocked her view of him as well he made a funny face as he once again tried to suppress his laughter. Thankfully, he succeeded, and with out a sound, and now with a straight face, he reached a hand out to the top of the binder and pulled her hands down slowly, from in front of her face. Once her face was uncovered Kaleb saw the perfect outline of a handprint across Lucy's face.
His eyebrows knit together, and he pressed his lips together as he tried to keep from laughing at his girlfriend. He took another deep breath in through his nose, and exhaled slowly and quietly. Finally he answered her question and said, "Well, Mrs. Doubtfire, I'm pretty good. Better now…that I get to see you." He stifled a snicker and hoped that his remark wouldn't get him in trouble. He honestly thought this situation was totally and completely adorable, and he would remember this moment for a lifetime. "Are you...um, busy?"

Lucy cringed closing her eyes as she could hear Kaleb fighting back laughter. After a few safe moments behind the binder, Kaleb took away her shield. Lucy opened one of her eyes to see that Kaleb was not doubled over in laughter as she had expected him to be. Although she suspected that he was barely reigning in his laughter and amusement. Lucy sighed and tosses her arms in the air a bit, “Go ahead and laugh it up Cowboy.”
A couple of seconds later, "Well, Mrs. Doubtfire, I'm pretty good. Better now…that I get to see you.” Lucy knew that she had asked for him to go ahead and laugh, but she ignored that fact when she frogged Kaleb’s arm. Kaleb also asking if she was busy to which Lucy shook her head, “Not really.”
Lucy bounced a little side to side on the balls of her feet before pointing towards the steps, “Um if you want to come upstairs and wait, so I can change right quick.” Lucy turned and started walking towards the steps, but thought of something with a grin. She turned about two steps up, which made her about face to face with Kaleb. She grinned and turned around to face Kaleb and leaned forward and quickly kissed his cheek, getting some of the face crème on the side of his face. Lucy laughed and turned, hurrying back up the stairs towards her room.

After flinching from being hit on the arm he smiled brightly at the mention of her not being busy. She invited him in to wait while she changed, and started to bound up the steps. He stood where he was and watched as the inevitable happened. She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, smearing the white creamy goo all over his face. A sarcastic "Um. Eww." was all that came out of his mouth as she turned and scurried up the stairs.
He followed her, wiped the cream off his face with his hand, and then wiped it on his pants leg. "O well…" he thought. As he came inside the house, he shut the door behind her and asked "Hey, Lucy….where should I wait? I don't want to disturb anyone." He knew that sounded absolutely lame…but it was really more of a ploy to see if there was anyone else home.
