Birthday: December 19, 1991
Current Residence: La Push
Class/Grade: Junior
Background/History: Erika was born to Dan and Ella Ashwood on the reservation in La Push. She was never a socialite; she'd just as soon read a book as go out with a friend. She's an intellectual, dreaming of the day she can attend and Ivy League school.
Of course, Erika couldn't stay in her shell forever. In fact, she's decided to start dating and going out with friends. Of course, she needs to get some first. Erika isn't the prettiest girl in La Push by far, but she can definitely hold her own. And she intends to do just that.
Personality: Erika's personality is rather a quiet one. She never really fit into La Push the way everyone else did, but that was of her own opinion rather than the acceptance of the other Quileutes. Since the start of high school, she's been slowly breaking out of her shell, but she still needs a little bit of convincing to go out sometimes. Too hot. Way too long a day. Erika was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking some of her mom's infamous lemonade-iced tea combo with the fan blowing on her. Not even that was helping. The sun was a torture, and she really didn't want to go outside. But the beach was practically shouting her name. She could feel the sand already, the wave beneath her board, and the salt water splashing her face. Oh, the thoughts of it were serene. Finally, not able to take it anymore, Erika shot up from her chair, her legs stinging a bit from her skin being ripped from the char. She trudged up the stairs to her bedroom and changed into her swimsuit. She needed this.
After putting on a shirt and shorts over her suit, she grabbed a bag, stuffing in a towel, some sunblock, and a change of clothes, just in case. She swung it over her shoulder and descended the staircase before exiting the house. The wave of heat that hit her face when she stepped outside hit her like a freight train. She suddenly couldn't breathe. She panted, trying to catch her breath again, but it was to no avail. She sighed and went around back to the garage. Locating her surfboard, Erika held it under her arm and headed in the direction of the beach.
As she grew closer, the sun reflected off the water. She squinted, trying to see through her eyelashes. Soon enough, trees separated her from the view of the ocean. Walking through the woods was a great feeling. They smelled wet and mossy, and Erika loved that. Her feeling of peace was cut short though, when she heard a twig snap. She stopped in her tracks and looked around her for the source. Nothing. She continued walking again, listening to everything. For a moment, she heard nothing. But she heard it again. Another snap. With a voice added this time. Erika turned, and faced the source of the voice. A person, paler than she'd ever seen before, paler than the pale faces stood in front of her. Only one tipoff gave her the impression that this person was not human. And that were the ruby red eyes.
