Edward had just arrived back at the Cottage from a morning hunt. He knew that Alice was wanting to talk to him and that she was on her way from the mansion to him. He quickly changed from his hunting close into a pair of jeans and a pull over shirt. Edward knew that jeans were not usual for him but Bella was rubbing off on him and she has bought them for him. He knew that Alice was not going to like it but she need to talk more than worry about his attire. Edward left his room and went into the living room to await Alice's arrival. He opened the front door just a crack. He knew that she would be there in seconds.

Alice stood in the corner of what used to be her bedroom that she once shared with Jasper, looking at a photo of the two of them from around the late 1990s before they moved to Forks. It had been some of the happiest times she had spent with Jasper. They were still married and didn't have to worry about betraying one another or others interferring with their marriage. Life seemed simpler back then, when they were able to trust one another. More than anything, Alice just missed having her husband around to talk to. Jasper was the one person who knew her best and understood everything she was feeling without her having to say one word. And she knew everything there was to know about him without him explaining a thing. They were like two halves of one whole, neither complete without the other. And over the past year, Alice had felt like she had lost a part of herself that she would never get back again. Jasper was so much a part of who she was, she really didn't know who she was apart from him.
Feeling the need to talk to someone, she decided she would go see her brother Edward, who was just returning from his hunting trip from her most recent vision. Putting the photo back on the dresser, she walked out of the room, turning to look one last time before darting down the stairs and outside, slowing her pace to a human walk. Even though she normally hated going slow, she figured it would give her a moment to gather her thoughts together so they wouldn't be so frantic for Edward to decipher through. Once she reached the cottage where he and Bella lived, she saw the door slightly ajar. She walked in and saw her brother already waiting for her. "Hi Edward," she said softly, shutting the door behind her. "Sorry it took me a little longer to get here, I got hung up on some stuff at the mansion." Her thoughts flashed to the photograph for a moment before she pushed them away. She hated feeling so vulnerable.

Edward knew Alice's mind as well as she did and knew that she would need him to be there for her. Edward was always there for his sister, she was after all his favorite and twin in most ways. He knew that she was thinking about Jasper and was going to need someone to talk to though in truth neither one of them really had to talk. Edward could hear her thoughts and she could see his response in her visions. It was definately interesting for someone outside there minds to watch them have a conversation without ever saying a word. Edward knew that Alice actually wanted to talk though so he would listen and answer her in the way that she wanted. For the most part he tried to make his favorite sister happy.
When she spoke to him, he smiled. "Hi little monster." He answered her. That was his nickname for her because of her tiny stature. When she apologized for being late his laughed a little. "I didn't know that we had an exact time to meet. It's fine, I just got home myself, but you already knew that." He said to her. He went the sit in his favorite chair in the room and motioned for her to follow. As he sat down he spoke again. "So what is it that you need to talk to me about?" He asked her with a smile on his face. He really did not care what they talked about. He and Alice had not had a lot of time together lately and he missed that. She used to be his best friend and he missed her. He wanted their relationship back and knew that he needed to help her get through what she was going through so that it could be.

There was so much that Alice had wanted to say for so long, but had kept to herself because she really didn't want to burden anyone with her problems. Problems that she had created herself, for the most part. Even though she had thought she had been right to divorce Jasper after she had suspected his infidelity, she still doubted that she made the right decision based on what it did to both herself and Jasper after. The day she saw him in that facility in Florida, she knew that she had done the exact wrong thing for him. It scared her so much after when they returned because she saw how horrifically messed up he had become. He wasn't the man she had married, but some shadow of him, scared to even come near her because of the emotional climate. It used to never be that way between the two of them and that really hurt Alice. Jasper was never contrite to her before, outright telling her to leave him alone. More than anything, Alice just wanted to rewind time and never have to go through the pain of losing him.
As Edward greeted her by her nickname, she offered a half-smile before sitting down on the nearby couch. Putting her hands in front of her, she wrung them back and forth a little, putting her thoughts together in her head again. "I just needed someone to talk to," she said softly. "I was doing a lot of thinking about Jazz, but you already knew that." Alice was thankful her brother could read minds sometimes, especially when there were things she just couldn't say in words, but he could hear in her thoughts. "I found this old picture of him and I, which really just made me miss him. And I know that everyone keeps telling me to give him space, which I have been doing, but how much is enough? How long do I have to wait when I still love him with all of my heart Edward?" Alice paused and took a breath to calm herself down, something Jasper usually did without even thinking about it. "I mean, when you left Bella...it was equally as hard on both of you. And I hate bringing that up because I know how sensitive a topic it is for you, but that's the only thing I can relate to. But how do I keep on going through this? How do I survive when the one person I love with everything I am hates me?"

Edward watched Alice wring her hands and knew that she was struggling. Alice for all her visions was still a little delicate things. He knew what she was going through and wanted to comfort her. He listened to her as she talked and waited for her to pause for an answer to her questions. He knew that she was hurting and wanted to make things right for her. When she paused he sat forward towards her and thought for a minute. Edward knew that he would have to word things just right for her.
He knew exactly what to tell Alice. "Alice, Jasper does not hate you. I can hear it in his thoughts just like I can yours." He said to her as he sat back in the chair again. "Deep down, Jasper still loves you just as must as you love you." He said taking a breath. "Jasper went through something in Florida that even though I have seen it in his thoughts, I still can not imagine it. I can not even begin to explain it in a way that you would understand than to simply say that he was tortured." Edward said in a hushed voice. He knew that Alice did not need the details of what happened in her mind. "Jasper has lost himself, Alice." Edward continued. "He loves you but he can not show you that until he finds himself again." Edward Said. He knew that it could take a while for Jasper to find his way back. "Jasper has to find he way back to the family on his own terms. He wants to be like he used to be but it is going to take time." Edward said as he looked at his sister. He knew that this was going to be hard for Alice to hear and he hated that but he had to be truthful with her. "I can not tell you how much time it will take, but I can tell you that he will come back to you, just as I did Bella. Have a little patience and everything will work out." He said to her with a little smile.

If there was one thing Alice had problems with, it was being patient with things in life. That was that downside to having the gift of seeing the future for sure and things were so uncertain between herself and Jasper, that her visions of the future for him and herself were blurred. She could hardly seen anything at all, much less a life with him outside of the cordial greeting they seem to give one another every once in a while. That was not the life she wanted to have with him at all. She wanted to rewind time and stop anything from ever happening to either of them. Alice had wished she had never gone to England and that Jasper had never doubted her visions and intuition when it came to Crystal. When it came down to it, they were both at fault for their situation, but Alice bore the brunt of the blame herself for accusing Jasper of cheating on her with Lexie. She had never thought it would ever come to that, ever in her entire existence, but it had and now they were all dealing with the consequences of that fall out.
Listening to her brother, she knew he was trying to comfort her in a way only a brother could and she appreciated it. Alice looked at Edward with the look of innocence in her eyes, trying to not let away too much of her emotions. It was bad enough he could hear her thoughts, but having to feel her emotions would have been far, far worse. For once she was glad Jasper was no where near her right then to feel all of the pain and suffering she had really been going through, what she had been hiding behind the mask of being Alice Cullen, the little pixie of the Cullen family. Those pretenses could only hold up for so long before she had to step aside and keep to herself for a few hours to recompose. No one knew that struggle, except for Edward, who only knew of where she went, but never the true reason why. "I know that it takes time, but it still hurts me," she admitted. "Sometimes I think that it would be better if I just avoided him altogether, but I know he needs to get back to a normal life, which would include being around me."

Edward knew that Alice was hurting and that she loved Jasper. He also know that patience was not one of Alice's virtues. He wanted to help her but he knew that it would not be easy. Jasper was a complicated individual and he could not tell her things that he had heard in Jasper's thoughts. Edward had always felt uncomfortable about knowing what others thoughts. He thought about how be answer Alice and comfort her. Edward knew that they both loved each other but also knew that once a vampire changed it was permanent.
"Alice, I know that you are hurting and that you want Jasper to get back to a normal life." He said to her. "I am not sure that it is going to be possible for Jasper to go back. I know from Bella that when something so drastic happens, there is no going back." He said as he thought about the beginning when he left Bella. Edward still remembered through months perfectly. He knew that he would always regret the decision to leave her, but that things had worked out better than he could ever imagine. "You have to let him come to you. Don't push him. When he is ready he will come to you." Edward said to her, knowing how hard that would be for her.
