Katelyn was mezmerized by Nathaniel talking about his life in New York. It seemed like she was transported there by his words and she could actually see the city lights dancing all around her. That was one place she had always longed to see for one reason...Broadway. There were several shows that she longed to see more than anything, including Chicago, Wicked, Hairspray, and West Side Story just to name a few that came to her mind. Everything about that city fascinated her, but she knew that it would be a long time before she could ever get there. Smiling, she looked back at him and replied, "Everything about the city is just entrancing. I want to go there someday and see some of the wonderful shows."
She blushed a little and continued, "When I was a little girl, I always thought that if I ever ran away from home, I would go to New York first. Admittedly, that plan had some flaws since New York City is all the way on the other side of the country...but a girl can dream, can't she?" Katelyn giggled and shook her head at her own stupidity. It was a foolish dream of a twelve year old, but she felt like she could trust Nathaniel with her own ambitious dreams.

Nathaniel chuckled as Katelyn talked about how entrancing the city was. He once again swallowed down the fire in his throat as a blush graced Kate’s face. Nate was able to relax however with a laugh when Katelyn shared her dream if she were to ever run away. That was a fantasy that Nathaniel would imagine that every child had at least once as they grew up. He was pleased though that Katelyn had enough confidence to tell Nathaniel about her childhood dreaming. “Those plans are no more flawed then a fourteen year old boy that wants to meet Shakespeare.”
What Nathaniel was leaving out however is that he eventually was able to meet him. Nathaniel looked past Katelyn for a moment to see a woman standing in the tall bushes. She seemed normal enough, except for her firey red eyes; the woman made a pointed look towards Katelyn’s back licking her lips, and slunk back into the shadows. Before Kate could realize what was going on he looked to her with a small smile and glanced to his watch. He was startled and chuckled looking back to Katelyn, “We had better get you home; your curfew is coming up soon.” Nathaniel got to his feet and offered his hand to Katelyn, “Would you allow me to escort you back to your car?”

Katelyn giggled and smiled at Nate as he compared her plans to a fourteen-year-old trying to meet Shakespeare. In truth, Katelyn would have given anything to meet the greatest writer of all time that she had adored for years since picking up the first play she ever read by him. Thinking about that made her happiest because it was a love story. And here was someone that could have been straight out of one of his novels. When he extended his hand to her, she smiled shyly and took it. His hand was ice cold and it sent a shiver down her spine; but a good shiver nonetheless. "Okay, you can escort me back to my car," she replied softly. "That is the most gentlemanly thing any guy has ever done for me." She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks as she said her last sentence. It was utterly embarrassing to admit to something like that, but again...she felt safe and confident around Nate for some strange reason.

Nathaniel did not miss the shiver that Katelyn had when she took his hand. Nate then saw the events of the evening replay in front of him. He grinned to himself as they walked back to the bar. The female vampire was absolutely forgotten. Nathaniel grinned as Katelyn said that escorting her to her car had been the most gentlemanly thing someone had done for her. He knew that Kate was blushing and this time Nate watched where they were headed instead of her red cheeks. Nathaniel smiled at Katelyn with a short shrug, “I was raised with impeccable manners.” He chuckled at how true that statement actually was, “Besides we cannot have a young woman like yourself walking in the dangerous city alone; you never know what goes bump in the night.” Nathaniel rested a grin in place knowing that statement would be a joke to Katelyn since the young woman had no idea what really happened in a city after hours.
