Kaleb tried his best to hide his laugh as Lucy snorted when he answered her question. Then Lucy said, “Oh yeah cowboy totally having a classroom coma over here.” Kaleb smiled again, he just couldn't help but secretly love hearing her call him "cowboy." He tried to come up with something smart-alack about how she needed to snap out of it when he was suddenly caught off guard by her next statement, as she tapped his paper... "Nice to know someone isn’t suffering from classroom coma.” ...and then quickly turned around with a grin. Shocked, Kaleb started to say something but got tongue tied. He raised his hand as if to tap her on the shoulder but his mind was blank and his cheeks still felt red from embarrassment. He decided not to pursue the rest of that conversation.
A few moments later Kaleb's red face had finally turned back to the golden tan color that he normally was and as the the teacher gave out an assignment Kaleb made mental notes about it and heard the bell ring. The next thing he knew he was watching Lucy in amazement as she was already out of her seat and halfway to the door as she mentioned that she would see them in a bit. 'Wow, this...place, is going to be interesting.' Kaleb thought. Katelyn then chimed in with her thoughts about not seeing Lucy again for a while. 'Darn...no, thats a good thing, that way you can save yourself from embarrassment for a little while at least. Maybe? Hopefully.' Kaleb then turned to Katelyn and said "Yeah, I met Kenzie earlier, and I got to witness the Kenzie/Lucy reunion. Anyways, I'm starving, so I'll let you girls have fun and I'll catch yall a little later." He gave Katelyn a broad smile and nodded his head in closing as he got up from his seat and walked out the door.
Kaleb followed his nose and stomach as he made his way to the cafeteria, through the line, and ended up with just a sandwich and some chips and a drink. 'Lame! He thought, and walked out the doors into the semi-cloudy weather. Scanning the landscape he saw the tree line behind the school and followed it toward the front of the school along the side, and saw a nice shady and somewhat secluded spot. He sat down in the grass facing the side of the school and let out a surprised laugh. There, about 20 yards caddy corner from him, sat Lucy, on a bench. He smiled sheepishly, and waved. He didn't really know what he should do. Pausing for a moment or two he finally decided to get up and walk over and invite himself to sit down. As he got closer he cleared his throat because he didn't want to scare her again and pointed to the bench and said, "Well, well, lookee who we have here...may I?

Lucy smiled when she turned the page in her English notes to see The Tiger, written at the top of the page. She giggled lightly to herself as she thought about what had happened in her English class. It was far easier to be in a good mood now that she was no longer in the hot seat and could relax for a little while. ‘James Bond escape plan a total success.’ Lucy thought to herself. She sighed and put her notes away as she began to day dream about Kaleb, and how her first day of school was going so far. ‘Polite, funny, beautiful eyes, beautiful smile, amazing laugh…wait a second’ Lucy frowned to herself for a moment. Yes she was day dreaming but for some reason when she thought of Kaleb’s laugh Lucy could have sworn that she had actually heard it.
Lucy looked up as she was opening her apple juice bottle to find Kaleb with a sheepish smile placed on his face. She frowned for a second wondering to herself why he did not go to the cafeteria with Katelyn, but Lucy then realized that she really was seeing Kaleb. ‘Oh crap! He is walking over here! What do I do? Man I hope I don’t look like a moron!’ A million thoughts ran through Lucy’s head as she watched Kaleb calmly walk over to were she was sitting on the bench with her lunch tray. ‘Lucy calm down. Just because he is an amazingly cute guy with a sweet personality doesn’t mean you need to have a freak out session each time you see him.’ Luckily for Lucy, Kaleb stopped her train of thoughts by clearing his throat and pointed at the bench that she was currently sitting on, “Well, well, lookee who we have here…may I?”
'YES!' Lucy screamed inside of her head. Gratefully Lucy’s rational side took over and she thought, ‘Well he hasn’t gotten mad at me for calling him cowboy, just play it smooth and relax.’ Lucy scooted over and put her backpack on the ground so that Kaleb could have room on the bench. She patted the bench space next to her with a grin, “Plenty of room cowboy." ‘Alrighty one successful sentence on a roll Lucy.’ Deciding to push her luck Lucy took a sip of her apple juice, “So why aren’t you in the cafeteria with everyone else?” That seemed to be a perfectly natural question and Lucy counted it as two comments that did not seem her look like a fool.

Katelyn walked out of the classroom, alone as usual. "I am gonna kick Lucy's sorry little butt later," she muttered to herself as she went down the hall to the lunchroom. "Leave me high and dry to deal with Kenzie's freak out session on my own..." Katelyn continued to rant the entire way to the cafeteria where she got her food and sat down at a nearby table to wait for Kenzie to walk in and begin the hysteria. Come on Kenz, she thought to herself. Let's hurry up and get this over with so I can go find Lucy and kick her butt myself. While she waited for Kenzie to show up, she thought of how many ways she could utterly embarrass Lucy in front of Kaleb, but decided against each one of them because she knew the guilt-fest that would follow if she did something that atroucious to one of her best friends.
Still, the thought of embarrassing Lucy was amusing and kept Katelyn's mind occupied for some amount of time while she waited. Visions of revealing Lucy's most embarrassing moment in dance and other fun stories to Kaleb were what entertained her for a short time while students filed in around her, giving her awkward stares for being the "new girl" and whatnot. Yeah, go ahead and stare, she snidely commented in her head. It isn't like a new girl doesn't show up here every so often. Almost immediately, she chided herself and reigned her sarcasm in. Take a chill pill and bring it down five notches...it isn't like they're killing me with their stares, although if looks could kill...that kid...geez... Her thoughts continued to go in circles for a while.

Kenzie had gone through her first classes of the day after dropping Lucy and Kaleb off at the office that morning. All through her classes, she hoped that Lucy would have at least one class with her, but so far...none such luck. By the time she reached the lunch hour, she was desperate to see her friend. Her French class got out a few minutes late, so she walked into the cafeteria expecting to see Lucy already waiting for her. She slung her backpack onto her shoulder and walked from her class into the cafeteria.
Instead of seeing Lucy like she expected, she got a literal shock. Instead of seeing Lucy sitting at a table, she saw Katelyn. What the hell? she asked herself mentally, taking a moment to blink and then refocus her vision. Katelyn was still sitting at the table. She hurried over and began to freak out. "Oh. My. God." she managed to sqeak before throwing her backpack down in the chair next to her. "What are you doing here? When did you get here? Holy crap...did you move when Lucy did? Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!" The questions flew out of her mouth a ninety miles an hour before Katelyn could even begin to answer the first one.

Katelyn was half considering leaving the cafeteria to go find Lucy to give her a good talking to for ditching her with the cowboy before class ended. But, before she could even move a muscle, Kenzie walked through the door of the cafeteria and ensued with the freak out session. It was exactly what Katelyn was expecting, so she almost began to laugh as Kenzie came over and sat her stuff down next to her. She listened to the barage of questions that Kenzie bombarded her with, smiling the entire time as she knew it was coming. Once Kenzie finally stopped talking, Katelyn looked at her seriously for about two seconds and asked, "Are you done freaking out yet?
With that she busted out laughing and hugged her friend. "Yes I did move here, no I didn't move with Lucy, and this is my first day of school here," she said, remembering to cover all of Kenzie's questions as she let go of her friend. "When Lucy moved, I was miserable without both of you in Seattle with me, so I begged my parents to move to Forks so I wouldn't have to finish out high school alone. They agreed and here I am." She smiled and threw her hands in the air in a "ta-da" fashion, thinking that about covered the explanation Kenzie was looking for.

Lucy seemed to be lost in her thoughts as Kaleb neared her and he he tried his best to stay calm. He had to remind himself that he had absolutely nothing to worry about. Apparently she had no problem with him joining her for lunch, however makeshift it may be. He was surprising himself because normally he would have probably just pretended he hadn't seen Lucy and gone to another spot in the grass outside. But for some reason...here he was.
Lucy sent Kaleb a sly grin and patted the bench next to her after she cleared a spot for him to sit and said "Plenty of room cowboy." and a few seconds later “So why aren’t you in the cafeteria with everyone else?” He straddled the bench so that he could sit facing Lucy and have somewhat of a place to set his food. All of the sudden he was hungrier than he realized and had just taken a big bite of his sandwich just as Lucy asked her question.
Kaleb's mouth was full and he did his best to chew quickly and not laugh at his situation. The last thing he wanted to do was gross her out as he ate. After an awkward silence and after he finally swallowed his food, Kaleb grinned and said "Wow. Sorry about that. Too much at once is never a good thing. And as far as your question goes, I just needed to be outside. I can't stand to be cooped up inside for too long...Again, too much at once still ain't a good thing. Plus I figured the other girls wanted to have their reunion unhindered by some guy." Kaleb laughed at his stupid answer and took a smaller bite of his sandwich this time. A few seconds later he asked "So, what about you Missy? You sure scooted out of class in a hurry...and why aren't you in there with the rest of the reunion?"

Vanessa walked into the cafeteria and got into the line. Her morning classes had been terrible, she had been to shy to introduce herself to anyone and her teachers mostly did that hole, "Class, this is Vanessa Camden thing." And of course all the eyes went to Vanessa. Something she hated. She grabbed a salad and a water and quickly went to sit at an empty table. She thought to herslef 'Wish I actually had the guts to go and talk to someone.' maybe she would tomorrow. Before taking her first bite of salad, V quickly looked around to see if there was anyone she thought would talk to her. She saw a tall blonde girl that looked nice and went over to her. "Can I sit here?" she pointed to the empy chair nervously.

Before Katelyn could continue her conversation any further with Kenzie, she heard a voice behind her. She turned around to see another girl that she had never seen before. The girl was blonde, much like herself and a little shorter, but not by much. And she most definitely had the wide-eyed, "deer in the headlights" look that most new kids had, aside from Katelyn herself. Katelyn smiled warmly at the newcomer and said, "Sure! I'm new here too, but this is my best friend Kenzie and she's been here for two years. And I'm Katelyn Taylor, but most everyone just calls me Kate." She moved her bags out of the way, so the new girl could join them at the table.

"Thanks. I'm Vanessa, V for short."She smiled shyly at Kate and Kenzie and sat down next to them. She was actually happy that she had gotten the guts to ask to sit by her. She seemed nice. Still speaking quietly, she said "So, um. What class do you have next?" and continued eating her salad. Keeping her eyes down. Maybe if she knew someone in her next class it might be a little easier. 'Or, maybe if you had the guts to introduce yourself to someone else it might be a little easier.' She thought to herself. But that wouldn't happen. It had taken all day just to summon the courage to introduce herself to one person. Her face grew red as she remembered the people who had tried to introduce themselves to her earlier. She had just pretended not to hear them. 'I hate being the shy one.' She looked across the cafeteria and saw a tall southern looking guy, and slightly waved and smiled.

Katelyn watched with fascination as the girl sat next to her and intoduced herself as Vanessa. Wow, she's even more nervous than Lucy...that's sayin' something, she thought to herself. "Well, it's really nice to meet you Vanessa. I don't know about Kenzie, but I have Math next and then History and Gym right after," she replied sweetly. "How about you?" she asked politely, trying to make Vanessa feel more welcome. "What classes do you have after this? Maybe we have one together so we aren't the only new girl in class." Katelyn could tell that Vanessa was the shy type because Kenzie was the exact same way...until you go to know her. Perhaps Vanessa would turn out to be the same way.

Vanessa was really starting to feel welcome. And starting to loosen up. "Um, I have math, the advance History, then gym."she smiled. Kate was really nice, V knew that once she started to loosen up she would most likely have more fun in Forks. She liked the weather (she was never one for the hot weather) and was starting to like the people too. ""I had English before this, but i had to go to the office to change my schedule to advanced classes." Being in the office the entire hour was pretty awesome. All she did was sit there and listen to the secretary and the principal talk. But, she had tomorrow's english to look forward too. It was pretty awesome knowing she wasn't the only new girl. Maybe she would actually start to like Forks High SChool.

Listening as Vanessa told her the schedule she had, Katelyn smiled and nodded her head. "Oh, well I have Advanced English right before lunch, so maybe we're in the same class there as well!" In her head, she mentally thanked whatever god brought her Vanessa since Lucy was most likely going to be distracted by Kaleb during English for the remainder of the year and Kenzie was not in her English class to begin with. "And as far as Gym goes...yeah, not going to be the class for me. I'm a dancer and that is enough athletics for me. Everything else, I tend to suck at and/or fall over my own two feet," she giggled at herself. "Kind of ironic for a dancer, isn't it?"

Kenzie was just about to reply to Katelyn when a new girl walked up and asked to sit with them. She watched fairly silent as the new girl, who introduced herself as Vanessa, interacted with Katelyn. Katelyn was always the social butterfly, even when they were in gradeschool, so Kenzie was used to it by now. She simply waited for an opportunity to throw herself into the conversation. And then Katelyn opened herself up for the perfect moment. "By all standards, Katelyn should have fallen off a cliff by now," she piped up, giggling. "But we don't let that happen, now do we Kate?" she jabbed Katelyn's side jokingly before laughing. "I'm Kenzie and it's nice to meet you Vanessa."

Vanessa smiled at Kenzie "hey." Then she looked at Katie "Its okay, Im not much for any physical activities either. I used to play volleyball but I kinda got out of that when I figured out i suck.I was actually hoping that maybe I could sit out today since I don't have any gym clothes. And maybe tomorrow if I bring in a 'doctors note' " Vanessa had been forging doctors notes since she got into high school. She absolutely hated gym. During recess in gradeschool she would sit against a wall and talk to people, refusing to have anything to do with dodgeball, soccer, or kickball. "So, either of you know the scoop on the guys? Which ones have girlfriends?" 'Not that I'd talk to any of them or that I would have the guts too.

Kenzie made a quick assessment of Vanessa and decided that she was an alright girl; a tad on the shyer side of things, but still a good girl. It made Kenzie laugh whenever Vanessa mentioned to Katelyn about hating Gym. Well that's something we all have in common, she thought slyly to herself. Kenzie hated Gym almost more than she hated her slimey ex-boyfriend Jerron. But that was a topic she would never bring up in public conversation. Her attention perked back up whenever Vanessa asked who was dating who around Forks High School. "Well, I don't know much about the guys around here being that my boyfriend Jon lives out in La Push, but I do know that there's a new guy hangin' around that's from Texas...our friend Lucy is pretty into him." Kenzie laughed and began to think about Lucy. "Kate, where is Lucy by the way?" she asked.
