Darkness is something that we are always meant to associate with evil, something scary. When we are children it’s the monster in our closet, as we get older it’s the hairs that stand on the back of your neck as you walk an empty street alone. Whatever it is about the night, it puts people on edge, the natural instinct is to be afraid because we can’t see what harm may be surrounding us. When you can, evil seems as though it should have a scar on its’ face, it shouldn’t be on the face of someone who looks innocent and sweet. It was that realization decades ago that made Bridget not trust any of those around her. Evil and disappointment comes in many different forms. Placing herself against a hard edged criminal who just escaped from the jail system may make many of those men laugh, thinking that she would be an easy conquest. But sometimes the smug little smirk that fell so easily upon her lips was more intimidating than any weapon that they may have brought with them. The element of surprise will always win. Bridget took a slow step out of her car as she looked up at the streetlamp that lit the corner of the street. The hunger in the back of her throat raged through her mind as she sighed, feeling frustrated for having neglected feeding for so long. She narrowed her eyebrows as she shook her head, still unable to believe the vegetarian lifestyle that so many of the vampires around Forks seemed to possess. Bridget placed her clutch under her arm as she walked down the street, listening to the sound of her heels hit the cement pavement. A small smirk spread across her lips. Many times that she had walked the streets late at night, older men would stop and tell her that she needed to be careful, dangerous things seemed to happen at night. “If only you knew” she would think as she would thank them and continue on her way. Bridget turned her ear quickly to the right as she heard a small group of men yelling at one another. “Fish in a barrel..” Bridget said quietly as she clenched her jaws, feeling her hunger take over her once more. Bridget took a few small steps so that she had placed herself under a streetlight, hoping that it would help them notice her. She stopped for a moment, wondering what was next for her. She knew that at least for tonight she would return to Forks, but there wasn’t exactly any other reason for her to stay and yet she was finding herself unable to leave. Bridgets Outfit

Christian had found himself in Seattle. It was a well known rule in the vampire world what sort of diet their royal couple followed, and that they tolerated the normal style of diet, they would not have it within their town borders. While Christian was not one that was particulary law abiding, he did not consider himself suicidal, which resulted in his current location of Seattle. It had been a couple weeks since his last meal and he could wait longer, but he had found himself in the recent mood to maim something. He was patiently strolling through the city streets when he sensed a familiar power. Partially curious as to what Bridget would be doing in Seattle he found himself focusing on where she was at exactly. He slid his hands into the pockets of his jacket and turned to walk towards the place where he sense Bridget’s power.
Christian turned a corner after a few minutes to see Bridget standing under a street lamp not far from where a group of men were getting riled up. If she was any kind of vampire, Bridget would know what she was doing and Christian had a feeling that she was trying to find an easy meal. By this point Bridget should also have realized that she was no longer the only vampire in the area. Two particularly nasty looking men had broken away from the small group and made their way towards Bridget. Christian walked towards them and past their friends who not stopped talking to see what Christian was going to do.
Christian walked up behind the two men that were approaching Bridget and slung an arm casually around the shoulders of the two, walking between them. He tugged them to a light stop and looked between them with a friendly smile that was anything but, Christian nodded towards Bridget who was now within normal hearing distance. “Now I know you fine gentlemen were not about to go and harass this lovely woman that is minding her own business.”

Bridget felt a small sense of victory as she saw two of the men begin to make their way towards her. Her impatience raged inside of her as she wished that they would walk faster, with the temptation of her next meal being only feet away. As she tapped her heels quietly, unable to completely control her impatience, she felt her senses heighten as she turned her head, taking in a familiar scent. A small growl came into her throat, too quiet for the humans to possibly hear, yet her eyes were fixed on the handsome vampire that she had met in the library. The devastatingly handsome vampire who seemed to almost derive pleasure from the disappointing nature of others. She raised her eyebrow as he wrapped his arms around the shoulders of the two humans. It wasn’t in her usual hunting techniques to let them know what sort of danger she was right away, and there was no doubt in her mind that they would be able to tell that the vampire with his arms wrapped around them was anything but human. The distance that closed between herself and the now three men had drastically shortened. She knew at this point that the humans would have no chance of escaping and allowed her frustration to take over the need to keep a cover. “What are you doing?” She sneered at the vampire that had joined her little dinner party without an invitation. “Are you that incapable of doing anything on your own?” She sighed as her agitation mixed with her hunger. Bridget closed her eyes to try and calm herself. She narrowed her eyebrows wondering who in the hell this vampire thought he was and why he could poach off of her. She took in a deep breath, hoping the fresh air would clear her sense before her eyes flashed back open, resting on the handsome vampire. She frowned slightly, wishing that he couldn’t be so disturbingly mesmerizing.

Christian felt the two men shutter because of the sudden cold that came in contact with him. He could also sense that they were feeling immediately edgy because of the difference they could probably feel in the air around Christian. They couldn’t be sure who he was and Christian could tell that they would probably not stay long to find out. Christian could also tell that Bridget was getting angry and he heard a subtle growl pass her lips. “What are you doing?” Christian ignored Bridget’s question as he dropped his arms from around the men’s shoulders. He stepped past them a few steps and turned to face them with a small smirk, “Why don’t you guys run along before you do something that you will regret.”
The two men glanced to Bridget and Christian before turning around and rushing back to their group. They jostled their friends a bit before the rest of the group took off down the street. Christian then turned back to Bridget with what felt like an accomplished grin. “Are you that incapable of doing anything on your own?” Christian snorted and shook his head as he slipped his hands back into his jacket pockets, “Of course not Princess but what would I do on this fine night if you weren’t here to piss off?” Christian left off the part of her being stupid enough to attack where witnesses would have been easy to find. Finding that to be out of his nature Christian spoke, “And please tell me you aren’t idiotic enough to attack someone with others so close around. Because if that‘s the case then my estimations of you would have to sink lower then where they are at.” He realized that he had an attitude but just as before he never really cared.

Bridget felt a bit of panic rise in her chest as she raised her eyebrow, watching as this arrogant, vampire was basically setting her meal free. She looked down letting out a sigh before she shook her head, unable to take off the look of irritation that had taken over her. “ That was not smart,” Bridget looked to watch the men walking away, feeling the hunger lash with more intensity the farther they got away. She darted her eyes back to the vampire as he spoke, ignoring the fact that he still did not seem to respect her enough to use her own name, and instead calling her princess. She scoffed as he seemed to insult her hunting style and gave a small nod towards the other men before she turned to him, “The witnesses would have been handled, had you not interrupted.” She thought for a moment, about her power and how easy it would be to thwart off such witnesses. Bridget tightened her jaw, it would have been so easy to do that, yet it had only been a part of her plan a handful of times.
Bridget took a few steps out of the light that the streetlight offered and turned on her heel to look at the handsome vampire. “ It is of course my pleasure to be your entertainment for the evening,” She said sarcastically as she hinted towards his statement of being able to piss her off. She turned her head, already itching to pick up another human scent in search of her next meal. Bridget turned her head as he spoke, “Because if that’s the case, then my estimations of you would have to sink lower then where they were at,”. Bridget straightened her shoulders, forcing herself to keep a calm composure that wouldn’t show that she had actually been stung by what he had said. She wasn’t sure if she was trying to convince him, or herself as she stood there, letting the moment of silence pass between them. “The fact that you hold any estimation of myself is disheartening; no matter how low you want to claim they may be,” Bridget took a step back, taking in a quick breath as she crossed her arms. As much as she hated to admit it, she was more upset with herself than she was with him. Here he was acting as though he was a pretentious jerk, who clearly held no high opinion of her, and she was allowing it to effect her, for the first time in her entire existence. The small thought ran into her mind as she tried to debate which would be better; if he held no opinion of her, or the fact the he did not hold a very high one. “What does it matter,” she thought to herself as she gave a small shake of her head, attempting to turn her attention back towards finding a scent.

Christian noticed a look on Bridget’s face as the two men were sent off on their way, not fully aware how close to death that they were. Christian wasn’t surprised that he had upset Bridget. If he had been as hungry as she seemed to be Christian would have been furious. It was also probably not a wise choice to repeatedly tangle with Bridget when he knew how powerful she was. That brought on a hint of curiosity in Christian because he did not know what Bridget’s gift was. He thought back to when he had first sensed her in the library. Christian had been a little surprised to find Bridget there rather than a far more intimidating vampire. “That was not smart.”
Christian snorted with a shrug, “Oh well Princess, and I guess it wasn’t to smart of you to attack in the open.” He watched as Bridget tensed up slightly mentioning that she would have been able to take care of the witnesses if he had stayed out of it. Christian fought back a laugh and allowed himself a smirking smile when Bridget said, “It is of course my pleasure to be your entertainment for the evening,” Christian could tell that he had really pissed her off and for some reason it made him want to laugh. Christian never wanted to laugh. And what was especially strange was it would not have been a mocking laugh, it would have been more along the lines of being amused. As much as he would begrudgingly admit to himself, Bridget was an interesting creature and for the life of him Christian could not understand why.
That’s when his smart remark about his estimations of Bridget escaped. Christian never regretted what he said, and he meant everything, but he wondered for a few seconds whether or not he had gone a little far. He had a habit of pushing things away that had any potential of getting close. “The fact that you hold any estimation of myself is disheartening; no matter how low you want to claim they may be,” Christian felt the sting in Bridget’s words and he had a distinct feeling that he had hurt her in some small way. That seemed to be ridicules to Christian because he never liked for anyone to get close, and because of his own past he found it hard to see why others made the mistake. It was beyond Christian why he was even bothering to speak when he knew how unwelcome he was, “So what is that Princess? Seems like you don’t have very much self esteem.”

Bridget felt a small wave of irritation flow over her. It was one thing for him to blatantly set her meal free, now he was critisizing the way she fed. " I did not attack in the open, I lured them in the open. There is a difference," She shook her head, still feeling as though he was evoking the feeling of being pretentious, and never in her life before had she ever felt like she was beneath someone, or undeserving of any sort of respect for that matter. Not that it mattered to her, she would much rather fly completely under the radar. She narrowed her eyebrows slightly. It frustrated her that for some reason, aside from everyone else that walked the earth, she would rather have insufferable attention from him, than no attention at all.
Bridget turned to look at him, giving a cold look as she crossed her arms. Their first meeting flashed in her mind. It seemed that at the library she had stumbled upon his territory and felt obliged to leave. Yet here she was, minding her own business and trying to find a meal in Seattle and it seemed as though he was clearly marking his territory there as well by setting her meal free. She took a few steps, shoving her shoulder against his own as she made her way past him. Bridget felt the irritation begin to build in her shoulders again as he spoke, mentioning that it seemed as though she had a self esteem issue.
" The only issue I'm having with self esteem at the moment, is what seems to be oozing from your pores," Bridget failed to turn and look at him as she took a few more steps, itching to find another human scent. She cursed under her breath as she had difficulty picking up anything that seemed like a fairly simple hunt. She turned on her heel to look back at him. Bridget softened her a stance a bit, looking at just how beautiful he was with the light of the streetlamp so near by. Bridget sighed as she squared her shoulders, forcing herself to remember the kind of person he seemed to be.

Christian looked around at the open streets and turned back to Bridget with a smirk, “Seems pretty open to me.” He knew that he had to be irritating her, and part of Christian wanted to stop, but he did not really know how, nor did Christian want the repercussions of what would happen. He had been nice to others before, even polite and respectful, but as he had learned many times over it always seemed to bite him in the ass. So Christian learned his lesson well of how to treat others, and how angry and spitefull people could be in return no matter your kindness. As Christian watched her narrow her eyebrows he felt his smirk grow slightly and for a reason not acknowledged by Christian it was more of a happy smirk then the usual sick pleasure from others pain.
Bridget seemed to retreat into her own thoughts as she glared at him with her arms crossed over her chest. A few moments later she none too gently pushed past Christian and that brought to his thoughts the idea of a child throwing a temper tantrum. Christian was rarely the laughing sort but the idea of Bridget throwing a fit was extremely amusing to Christian and an extremely short laugh escaped. He could tell that Bridget’s irritation was high, but as he was with almost anything he did not too much effort into how he effected others. "The only issue I'm having with self esteem at the moment, is what seems to be oozing from your pores," This time only a snort escaped as Christian watched Bridget come to a stop after a few steps.
She later finally turned to face him and seemed to study Christian. He allowed an amused grin to grace his face after a few moments of watching her and asked, “Is this a staring contest Princess? Or are you just enjoying the sight?” Christian knew that made him sound cocky and he was a little but at the moment he was just enjoying the reactions that he was getting from Bridget. “Remember Princess we can’t stand here forever you need to get some food before you get any grumpier.”

Bridget scoffed as he made yet another sarcastic comment towards how open the streets were and chose to ignore it, looking down towards the street as she did her best to control her thirst from controlling her. Bridget tilted her head as she craned her neck, doing her best to pick up on any noises around them before placing her attention back onto the vampire. She looked at him for a few moments, trying to decipher the different amounts of smirks and grins that he had held during their conversation compared to the first time they had met. Upon their first meeting she knew that she was getting under his skin, and she could have cared less. Now it certainly seemed as though the tables had turned and she was none too pleased about it, especially since it was so hard to remind herself of how irritating he was, when he was constantly so captivating.
Bridget shook her head hearing him speak, “Trust me there would be no competition,”Bridget said as she looked up at him, hoping that it didn’t sound too cocky. She looked over at him , wondering if he held any certain gifts of powers, completely unaware to the potential power of the vampire before her. The fact that he was so smug for no apparent reason was what really began to crawl under her skin and she was unable to contain the look of disgust that fled to her face as he spoke. ” Remember Princess we can’t stand here forever you need to get some food before you get any grumpier,” Bridget shook her head quickly, completely in shock by his apparent lack of caring towards how he was tormenting herself. “ We need to do nothing, And had you not wanted to deal with myself being grumpy, you could have not let my meal walk away,” She ran the tip of her tongue around the inside of her teeth, wishing that she had acted quicker, finished the deed before this devil in disguise before her showed up, “Don’t you have anything better to do that to torment me? Or are you simply letting me know that not only is the library under your domain, but clearly Seattle is too. If there is some particular territory in Washington that you haven’t marked as your domain, please feel free to let me know,” Bridget held her breath in slightly, frustrated with herself for allowing herself to be so rude to someone she didn’t even know. Her frustration with him quickly turned into a frustration with herself as she realized that she honestly didn’t care if she treated people like that, the truth was deserved, but she did care how she treated him. Which was becoming increasingly annoying. Bridget looked away from him, expecting him to walk away or to have some sort of snarky comment that she was preparing herself for, hoping that he wouldn’t be able to see through the shield and walls she was trying to surround herself in.

Christian grinned as Bridget seemed to be more irritated by his observations of what was around them. He also found it interesting that he was so willing to flirt with the line of trouble when he knew how strong Bridget was. For all he knew her gift was something small that she had been developing for as long as she had been a vampire, or it was something extremely dangerous that she kept leashed out of habit. Against his better judgment Christian found himself to be a little curious as to which it was for Bridget or if it was something else entirely. “Trust me there would be no competition.” Christian did not bother to stop the snort that escaped and he rolled his eyes in addition. He knew that he was really starting to annoy Bridget from the way that she was acting.
In his previous encounters with others of their kind, Christian knew that it was more then likely his attitude that was beginning to get Bridget frazzled. He did fight back a laugh however when Bridget reacted to his comment about getting her food. “We need to do nothing, And had you not wanted to deal with myself being grumpy, you could have not let my meal walk away.” Christian grinned, “Well Princess I will keep a mental note about not pissing you off until after you eat.”
Bridget then proceeded to ask if Christian had anything better to do then torment her with digs, or marking his territory. Christian pretended to seriously consider her question about an area he didn’t claim before looking back up at her, “I suppose that Seattle can be neutral territory.” Christian watched Bridget as she was silent for several moments and he was less able to gauge her reaction. It almost made him uncomfortable and it had him questioning everything that he had just said to her. He tilted his head to the side watching for another moment of silence and decided it was best when Bridget spoke.
“C’mon Princess I know you’re hungry.” Christian said nodding behind himself, “Drug deal about to go down a few blocks over and they would be easy pickings that aren’t in the open.” Christian began to walk backwards so that he could still face Bridget with a taunting smirk on his face. Christian then did something that he hoped would get under her skin, he winked at her and nodded for her to hurry up.

Bridget held her folded arms tightly against her waist as she observed the handsome vampire. She allowed herself to take in a small breath, taking in another small wave of his scent. Bridget told herself it was so that she would be more familiar with his scent and that she could avoid it at all costs, but a hint of self doubt lingered in the back of her mind. Her entire existence she had never felt so completely drawn and repulsed by another person. The way that he was behaving so differently had peaked her interests, but she was doing her best to not let him see that seeing as how it appeared that he already had a big enough ego as it was. Though she was reminding herself how unattractive such a large ego was, and how it was making him entirely crude, a bit of her couldn’t help but be intrigued. His entire, don’t give a damn persona, separated him from others of her kind that she had met before simply because his was extremely genuine. The more and more she thought about it after the first few days she had met him, the more she wanted to know about him and how he had become this way. The fact that she had thought about him at all only upset her more as she did her best to redirect that anger towards him. It was his fault in the first place that she found herself so interested. It had to be his fault, because it certainly wasn’t her own seeing as how she had met many vampires in her life time and had only allowed herself to be vulnerable to one other before.
Bridget was just about to speak when she looked up, hearing him make another statement that made her teeth grind. “ Well Princess I will keep a mental note about not pissing you off until after you eat, Bridget clenched her teeth tightly together as she looked at him, completely astonished by his either complete naïve idea to believe that they would be seeing each other again, or the fact that he was purposely trying to push her buttons. “ I wouldn’t bother myself with such information if I were you, it’s not like you’ll be needing to use it,” Bridget unclenched her teeth so that her jaw relaxed a bit as she watched him. Her eyebrow slightly lifted as he seemed to consider the territory issue. A flurry of words escaped her mouth, showing a lapse in her self control as she glared at him, “You are the most… arrogant being I have ever met,” Bridget shook her, biting her bottom lip to keep the flow of words from continuing. He may have been arrogant, but Bridget certainly didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of getting under her skin, and the reactions that came from that.
Bridget was just about to turn and head in the other direction when he had mentioned the fact that there was a drug deal happening a few blocks away. She stopped, looking him up and down for a moment, trying to decide if he was actually being genuine or if this was another way to try and amuse himself for the evening. She let out a small sigh as he mentioned that they weren’t in the open. A small part of her wanted to argue again that she had not actually attacked the men before in the open, but she closed her mouth, knowing that , that argument would never end. She narrowed her eyebrows as he began to walk backwards, unsure of whether or not to follow him. A small groan passed her lips as he winked at her, but she restrained herself from saying anything callous to him at that moment. When he nodded at her to hurry up she tilted her head slightly. For the first time in a very long time, Bridget wasn’t exactly sure what she should do.
Bridget bit the inside of her lip, considering her options. Though her hunger was thrashing inside of her throat, and clearly effecting her mood, she didn’t want to give the irritating vampire the satisfaction of being able to gloat that he was the one that had found her a meal and improved her mood. “ If I follow you it’s because my hunger is more powerful than my distain for you at this moment, Sparky “ Bridget gave a small shrug, though she was unable to move her feet. She looked down at them, feeling as though she was cast in cement. Not that it would matter to her form now, but certainly when she was a human. Bridget scratched the side of her arm before she looked back up at him. She wasn’t sure if she should follow the arrogant vampire or look for food elsewhere. The sudden realization that if she followed him, that would mean more time spent with him would occur. The thought sent a figurative chill down Bridget’s spine as she looked back up at the irritating vampire walking backwards. She evaluated for a moment whether or not she was ready to let someone else into her life, even as a mere acquaintance, because once she opened that door the entire realm of disappointment would be open to her feet.
Bridget realized that the length of time that had passed since he began walking may have seemed as though she was incapable of making a decision. Bridget shook her head extremely slightly, trying to shake these thoughts off in her mind. Theoretically this should be an easy decision, was she hungry or not? Bridget ran her tongue around the inside of her teeth, deciding that maybe she was thinking much far into it. But the decision wasn’t that simple. To her it wasn’t just, hunger over annoyance, it was shelter versus letting her guard down; and to someone who seemed to completely give a damn less about what would happen. Bridget straightened her shoulders as she took in a deep breath, hoping the fresh air would calm her nerves. She took a small step in his direction, almost instantly apologizing to herself for any future disappointment that may be stemming for this one small step in his direction. Bridget placed her right hand over her left elbow as she walked closer in the direction of the mysterious vampire.

Christian felt the wind change slightly blowing Bridget’s scent towards him. Something that he begrudgingly had to admit was a scent he did not mind. Christian would almost rather find a way to break his arms and legs then ever out right admit a compliment to anyone, much less the woman in front of him. In part because he already knew that he was tripping himself up by actually coming to find her this time as opposed to walking away as he did before. Christian also realized Bridget’s lack of speaking was starting to bother him and he wasn’t sure why. For some unknown reason her silence had him concerned and God help him if he knew why. He grinned to himself as he watched Bridget get annoyed with him for what seemed to be the hundredth time in the last few moments.
It amazed him even further that as annoyed and upset that she was seeming to be, that she was still standing there. “I wouldn’t bother myself with such information if I were you, it’s not like you’ll be needing to use it,” Christian fought back a chuckle at that and settled himself with a grin. He couldn’t remember the last time that he was so hard pressed to bite back a laugh. At least a genuine laugh and not one that was meant to mock others, which was twice now in the time he had been talking to Bridget. Christian knew that he really upset her when he told Bridget that Seattle could be neutral territory. It seemed to take her a second but then a flood of words escaped. It started as a little snicker and turned into a small laugh and he looked at Bridget with a grin on his face.
“Princess it isn’t arrogant when I can back it up.” It wasn’t so much that Bridget pointed something out that he thought was fairly obvious, but it was more of the way that she said it. To Christian it almost sounded like she was either frustrated or surprised by that. Something else that Christian did not care to acknowledge was that part of him wanted to get under Bridget’s skin, just to have the chance to speak with her. Christian watched as Bridget was ready to get away from him when she realized what he said about the drug deal going on. She looked him up and down and he noticed the skeptical look on Bridget’s face, “Trust me Princess I may be an ass, but I don’t lie.” Christian knew that Bridget had to be hesitant and for once he was patient and waited a few moments for her to make up her mind.
He waited for several moments and Bridget finally spoke, “If I follow you it’s because my hunger is more powerful than my distain for you at this moment, Sparky.” Christian shrugged he would have been a little annoyed if she didn’t follow him. He knew that he wasn’t a liar and he would be one of the first to say what an ass he could be, but Christian knew he didn’t lie. He then thought of something that might make Bridget feel better, knowing his name. Christian cocked his head to the side and watched her for a few moments and spoke, “You know Princess if you aren’t too attached to calling me Sparky, you could call me by my name. Its Christian.” His grin started to grow as Bridget started walking towards him, and he continued to walk backwards.

Bridget could feel how tense her stature was as she took her first steps towards him, and could only imagine how rigid she must have appeared in walking. She licked the corner of her lips, trying to mentally control herself into relaxing her stance. She held her right hand tightly over her arm as she made her way towards him, afraid of whatever cat and mouse game she may have been inevitably forcing herself into. She looked up into his eyes, wondering to herself how she was so willing to trust someone she had just met once before, when in her entire existence she had been shutting people out of her life and away from her so that she would never have to be concerned with the peskiness of the added drama that other people bring into your life.
Bridget lowered her arms at her side as she walked, hoping to give a less defensive stance as she felt more comfortable in her strides. The quiet of the night was quickly interrupted by his small laughter and she looked up to his eyes quickly, amazed to see him laughing once again. She frowned slightly, attempting to figure out whether he was simply that arrogant, or whether or not he was mocking her. Her debate was quickly settled as he made a comment, “ Princess it isn’t arrogant when I can back it up,”. Bridget let out a small smirk as she shook her head, “We’ll see if that’s true or not,” She raised her eyebrow slightly, as though to initiate a challenge. She brought her arms back to a position where they were crossed against her waist as she bit back a smile at seeing him walk backwards.
Bridget allowed for the small space to stay between them, waiting for a chance to close it later. As he spoke, she was finally able to catch hold of his name. She shook her head, realizing that she hadn’t even caught his name. She bit the inside of her cheek, remembering that she had tried to approach his name the first time that they met, and that clearly didn’t go over so well. “Alright, Christian,” A small smile came on her lips though she couldn’t ignore the fact that she found it slightly disrespectful that she would call him Christian, and yet he continued to call her Princess despite the fact that he knew her name.
Bridget took a few quick steps in attempt to close the space between them and looked back into his eyes as she met his stride. “If that’s the case, then is you calling me Princess a way from keeping yourself to getting attached?” She raised her eyebrow with a small smirk as she looked up at him, hoping that he would spare them both the embarrassment and pain and tell her exactly what she figured he felt; that she was a mere amusement, an entertainment for the evening and should not flatter herself. Bridget felt what would be similar to a small flutter as she mentally kicked herself in the head for changing her attitude, hoping that he would consider it to be an improvement to her mood from the fact that she would be hunting soon, versus realizing it was the company that she had.

Christian watched Bridget with a smirk pasted onto his face as he could tell Bridget seemed to be warring with herself a little bit. He could understand that she did not want to come with him, and it did not bother Christian as long as Bridget at least thought he was telling the truth. A moment later Bridget made eye contact with him and Christian could feel his smirk grow slightly. “I promise Princess I’m not bullshitting you. And if I wanted to do something to you I would have a long time ago.” Christian couldn’t stop his smirk as he watched her frown slightly at him, once again it was more amusing to have her frowning at him then anyone else.
“We’ll see if that’s true or not.” Christian snorted again, “Like I said Princess I don’t lie.” Christian watched Bridget’s face and wondered if the twitch of her lips was just something in his imagination or if she was in fact biting back a smile. He continued to walk back at an even pace keeping the distance between himself and Bridget even. “You know it wouldn’t kill you to smile Princess. I have a feeling that if you smiled, that it wouldn’t make you look completely miserable.” Christian then heard Bridget say his name and some how hearing it from her was different then from other people that he had met.
A small smile did flash across her face, and Christian was pleasantly surprised to see that he was right, Bridget did not look half bad with a grin. Bridget then seemed to quicken her pace slightly to close the distance and Christian flashed a soft grin before walking faster to increase the distance back to where it was before. “If that’s the case, then is you calling me Princess a way from keeping yourself to getting attached?” Christian snorted and wondered if the words could have been any more drenched in sarcasm, “Oh yeah Princess that’s the exact reason.”

Bridget raised her eyebrow slightly as he spoke, mentioning that had he wanted to do something to her he would have already. It would have been cocky for her to say that she wasn’t worried about him on a physical level. Though in their world, it was dangerous to enter fights with any stranger, considering you may never know what their powers may be. Bridget was too proud to admit that physical pain occurring from Christian was the farthest thing from her mind, but she was far more concerned with the fact that he seemed more capable than anyone she had met in years to devastate her. She gave a small chuckle as she looked up at him, and bit the edge of her lip, letting the smile escape slowly. The small fraction of a compliment that he seemed to be giving was enough to make her want to light up.
Bridget took in a deep breath, fighting with herself internally and the struggle that came with not wanting to be this giggly girl, when she had no obvious reason to be so. She straightened the edges of her lips, “ And Sparky, what would help you not look so completely miserable?” She countered back with a joking tone and a small smirk as she kept her stride even with the pace that he was doing. This little cat and mouse game was fun for the evening, though she wasn’t entirely sure how much longer either of them would be playing; let alone when he would get bored with her for the evening.
Bridget gave a small nod as he gave her the confirmation that she had expected, “Oh yeah Princess that’s the exact reason,” She put on a quick smile, to deflect any emotion that may have shown him that what he said had actually stung her. She took a moment to compose herself before she looked back at him, “There is a reason. It may be small, but there is one. I know it isn’t a sign of respect, like most Princesses would get,” She gave a small chuckle in effort to thwart off whatever she was feeling, seeing as how she would have to sort it out later, “ But whatever helps you sleep at night, Christian,” She smirked, letting the smile spread across her lips as he kept the distance between them.
