Things had gone pretty well that week in school so far. Aviary waited patiently for Cody to arrive. They had finally gotten around to hanging out and their first place to explore was going to be the town square. She was glad that Cody at least was interested in hanging out with her. Aviary was not going to jump to conclusions and get too excited but she was sure that it could possibly lead to something more, once they really got to know one another. Aviary did not have many plans other than walking around with Cody and talking to him. Aviary was confident that Cody would not mind in the least bit seeing that he enjoyed her company.
Aviary found a place to sit and watched as various people passed her by. One of Aviary favorite things to do was to people watch. The rest of forks seemed busy, people would walk together in groups laughing and talking. Small children ran in and out of shops. A few peers from her school were standing outside some popular places just hanging out. She recognized a few people from her classes, but had yet to really learn the names of some of them, being it was only still the first week of school.

Cody ran out the door, stopping to grab his keys and jacket from the hook on the mantle of the fireplace. He was running late and knew that. Aviary was already down at the town square waiting for him and he was ten minutes behind. However, it wasn't his fault Emery decided to take up the bathroom at the last second, forcing him to wait while she took forever straightening her hair and doing whatever else it was that girls did to take forever in the bathroom. However, he brushed his teeth and combed his hair in record time before dashing out of the house to his truck. His started it up and drove to the Forks town square in record time, making sure that there weren't any cops around...subtly remembering that Aviary's father was one of the only cops in town.
When he arrived, he parked his truck and got out, grabbing his jacket and keys before slamming the door behind him. He took a minute to calm down so he wouldn't look so rushed before casually walking into the square. He spotted Aviary sitting by one of the local diners and he smiled as he watched her gaze at the people passing all around her. She seemed so happy and content, which was one of the things Cody was fast growing to love about her. He walked up and sat down across from her and smiled. "Sorry I'm late," he apologized. "Emery got a little carried away today and hogged the bathroom." He chuckled, knowing that Aviary would know exactly what he was talking about. "So, where to first?" he asked. Anywhere Aviary wanted to go, he would go too.

Aviary smiled once Cody was in sight, her grin got bigger as he explained why he was late. In all honesty she did not really care one bit. Cody asked Aviary where she wanted to go first, and she thought for a moment unsure of what all she exactly wanted to do. “Well maybe we can kind of randomly start walking in on direction and if we see something interesting we can explore it more.” Aviary shrugged slightly “It’s whatever really.” she said with a grin. They could be staring at wall all day for all she cared; all long as she was with Cody thing really did not have to be interesting, because she was normally only paying attention to him.
“While we are deciding on things, you can go ahead and tell me any crazy things you have heard about forks. “ Aviary was very anxious to compare her notes to Cody’s. She loved hearing about things like this. As she began to follow close by Cody, she could feel her hand tingle. She knew she really liked this guy and longed to get to know him as much as possible but she had to take things slowly. She watched Cody closely, trying to read if maybe just maybe he might be just as interested in her, and she was in him. She could tell that things did look promising, even if she was unsure at times. “Thanks for doing this.” she said softly to Cody before she could let him answer. “This means a lot that you would take the time to go exploring with Me.” she beamed a huge smile and blushed slightly looking away.

Cody nodded to Aviary's suggestion of just taking one direction and letting the wind blow them wherever. He was fine with that because he was hanging out with the most gorgeous girl in all of Forks as far as he was concerned. In truth, Forks really was a beautiful town that did have something to offer to the outside world. It was quiet and had a wonderful forest that surrounded the area as well as a beach nearby on the Quileute Reservation about fifteen miles away. When he had first moved to the area, he had explored all the nearby locations, including Port Angeles and Seattle just because it was something to do. But now he was glad to have much better company to explore Forks all over again.
As they walked, he listened to her ask about what legends he knew of the area. Before he could answer, however, she added her gratitude for him exploring with her. Looking at her, he could see she had a sweet smile that he knew he loved. "I like hanging out with you," he said, smiling back at her. There was a lot more he wanted to say, but he reigned in his tongue for the moment to keep things simple for the time being. They walked a little ways down the street of the square and Cody thought about all the things he had heard about this place. "I guess the biggest mysterious thing I've heard about is the Cullen family," he said, putting his hands in his front pockets of his jeans. "Heard from a couple of other kids at school that they're this weird family that stays pretty reclusive...but that's about it. What about you?" He was curious to see if she knew anything else about the mysterious Cullens or maybe something more.

Aviary smiled once Cody said he like hanging with her. She wanted to say a whole lot more after that, but she needed to keep herself from being too opened towards him. Or at least for now. “I have heard a little bit about the Cullen’s. Which ones are they? Where they even at school?” she pause slightly. “From what I hear though, lots of strange stuff happens in the woods. I hear there were a few strange murders a while back, animal attacks or something. “Aviary did not know a whole lot about the town she had just slightly heard things from others, she was hoping to become more informed as the year when on.
Aviary smiled again at Cody, she could not believe how happy she felt to be with him. It had been a while since she had felt this way and she really enjoyed the fact that things seemed to be working out pretty well. The air felt very nice brushing against her cheeks, she loved the smell and feel of the fall air and gave a deep sigh. She was content for the time being and she liked this feeling a lot.

Cody sighed and felt the breeze through his shirt. It was a relatively nice fall day for Forks, even though the sun wasn't out at all. He didn't mind the weather so much because it was perfect for just walking around outside, which is exactly where he wanted to be because Aviary was with him. As he listened to her ask about the Cullens, he pulled on his memory a little to try and remember if he had seen any of them during their first week of school. "Actually I do remember seeing one of them," he said, suddenly remembering one of his classmates pointing out a Cullen to him. "It was the little one....I think her name is Alice or something like that. She's really short and kinda looks like a pixie or something." Cody ultimately remembered where he saw the Alice girl. He was walking to one of his classes and saw her and thought she was the strangest girl he had ever seen...pale white, perfect complexion, and very stylish.
As Aviary continued talking about the strange things that happened in the woods, Cody couldn't help but feel like he had heard this story somewhere before. It was an eerie feeling that set in at the pit of his stomach, but he ignored it and listened on to Aviary. "I think I might have heard those stories about the woods somewhere, but I'm sure they're just stories that they tell the kids to keep them out of the woods," he chuckled, stretching his arm up and rubbing the back of his neck. It was a little awkward to think, but Cody wanted to hold Aviary's hand and didn't know exactly why.

Aviary smiled as Cody told her about seeing Alice Cullen. She wondered if she had happened to see any of the Cullen’s at all. She was pretty sure they knew that they were the talk of forks because of the amounts of strange that seemed to be glued to their name. When Cody mentioned he had also heard about the woods curiosity stirred within her. “Maybe we could explore the woods sometime then, who knows maybe we might unlock the mystery of the Cullen’s.” she said with a laugh. "I'm sure they are kids stories too." she admitted. "I mean it might have been an oversized wolf or something.” Aviary decided to change the subject. “So tell me about your sister, I don’t think we have met. Does your sister attend school here as well?”Aviary ran her fingers through her soft hair, she felt confident that she looked pretty nice, since she took the time to look as pretty as possible for Cody.
Aviary noticed herself slowly drifting closer to Cody a few times. Each time she would automatically adjust herself, and hope he did not notice. she wanted to be close to Cody, but did not want to miss thing up between them if he did not also feel the same way. Aviary looked down at the pavement for a moment and then looked back at Cody. She gave a smile again, making sure that it was clear she highly enjoyed his presence.

Chuckling lightly at Aviary's suggestion of exploring the woods, Cody knew that there was no one else he would rather take with him. Of course, he would have to protect her from anything that was out there, but that was a job he would gladly take on without complaint. His laugh grew a little at the mention of an oversized wolf, reminding him of something out of the story of Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Little Pigs. All of those stories were imaginary, so he knew that an oversized wolf was not something that could actually exist, but it was still fun to think about or make up a legend about.
Cody slowed his pace a little and noticed that Aviary seemed to be drifting closer to him and then away again. It brought a smile to his face to think that she wanted to be close to him, but he wouldn't read too much into it just yet. They had only just begun to really get to know each other. But, he was easily distracted by her questions about his sister. "Well, Emery isn't actually my sister...technically," he began, shuffling his feet a little as they walked. "Our moms were best friends before we were ever born, so we were sort of raised around each other. When her parents died two years ago, my parents took her in and have offered to adopt her. She hasn't decided yet, but regardless of circumstances I still look at her as my sister." Thinking about Emery made him realize how lucky he was to have a sister like her, even if she did get on his every last nerve. "But I think you two would get along really well."

“Well that is good to know.” aviary said with a smile. “I would hope that I would get along with most people.” Aviary readjusted herself once more from drifting towards Cody. “Sorry, you must be a special Aviary magnet or something, if I run into I don’t mean It.” she said blushing. Once again Aviary danced around the real reason. She tried to play it off as some kind of mistake, even though she knew she just wanted to be closer to Cody. “So have you met anyone else besides me?” Aviary was kind of ashamed that she had not taken the time to get to know anyone else, but she knew in time she would make more friends. Aviary always seemed good at making friends; she never had a problem of making people smile or laugh once she got comfortable with her environment.
Aviary glanced in a small story shop and smiled when she say a display of old antics. Forks was growing on her, she felt that she got this very homey and comfortable vibe from it. Despite the eerie stories, forks was not that bad of a town, especially since Cody was there. Aviary began to twirl a few strands of her hair as she looked back up at Cody and waited for him to answer. She could tell that slowly her admiration to him was starting to slip between the cracks and show.

Cody was more than happy to hear that Aviary would get along with Emery because it wouldn't do to have the two most important women in his life, aside from his mom, not get along...should this relationship with Aviary go anywhere if he could find the guts to really ask her out. He couldn't help but smile when she made up an excuse for running into him all the time and then blushing about it. The bright pink on her cheeks was even more adorable highlighted by her genuine smile. There was something about her that he just couldn't explain because she was so wonderfully beautiful. "You can run into me anytime," he said, giving her a smile. Almost immediately, he knew that sounded more stupid than he meant it to and mentally smacked himself.
However, he recovered quickly and moved onto her next question. "Actually, I haven't really met anyone else that I've talked to outside of class," he replied, giving a small shrug. "It's kind of ironic since we live in a tiny town where everyone seems to know everyone." He gave another chuckle as they continued to walk around the town's square. Each of the shops had something different and unique to offer, which Cody appreciated. Coming from Portland, where all the shops seemed to look alike after awhile, he liked the new and different things Forks had to offer. Especially since Forks brought him to Aviary...who he could definitely see in his future. "What about you? I'm sure you have met tons of other guys since you've been here," he said. He was certain that there would be at least five other guys waiting to hang out with Aviary just because she was so wonderful and beautiful, yet intelligent and witty at the same time.

“Actually so far you’re the first person I have really talked too. I think I been a little anti-social at school this week minus talking to you.” Aviary thought it was pretty funny how that worked out. She knew she would have been a little bit more social towards others if she had not met Cody to distract her, but she did not mind because she felt she needed to invest time in Cody as much as possible. She would just let the other friendship fall into place on their own. “So tell me a little bit about yourself. What all do you like, what makes you who you are.” Aviary knew she sounded a little corny but was not going to beat herself over it too much. Most of the time when you like someone, corny and stupid words seem to pour out of your mouth, Aviary was just accepting that fact that she could not help it.
Aviary mind drifted to the homework she was neglecting to do. She was not too worried about it, but it seemed to come up in her mind as if to remind her that she had to be responsible after she was done hanging out with Cody. As she brushed any and all thoughts of school aside, she began to picture herself wrapped up in Cody’s arms. Aviary was unaware she was in a daze with a big grim spread across her face. She quickly snapped out of it once Cody began to talk again.

Hearing that Aviary had been somewhat anti-social at school because of him made Cody smile even more. This girl never ceased to astound him at every turn of their conversation, but he was enjoying every moment of it. He knew that once people got to know her, they would love her just they way he was starting to...if love was the right word to use just yet...he didn't know. All of it was very confusing for him and he was embarrassed to ask Emery about it because he knew she would annoy the living hell out of him for it until the end of time. So, he was forgoing this one on his own and frankly, he was scared to death. However, confidence was a great cover for that.
Hearing Aviary's question, he thought about it for a moment. He noticed that she seemed to be entranced for a moment by a thought of her own, which he was intrigued by but didn't ask about. "Let's see...I grew up in Portland until now, have played soccer since I was a kid and ran track, I like to read but don't tell anyone," he said, laughing a little. "I hate spinach, but like most other veggetables. Um...I had a dog growing up named Snuggles. He was a Golden Retriever I named when I was three." Cody stopped to laugh at himself for the random things he was spouting out. But, being around Aviary just made him feel so...goofy for no reason other than he was trying not to look like a moron, but succeeding at doing so at the same time. "What about you? Likes? Dislikes? Hopes?" he asked. He wanted to know more about Aviary with every second he spent with her.

Aviary smiled once Cody told her more about himself. He seemed like a down to earth guy and It was also a good thing he was athletic because so was Aviary. “Well I have always been into sports, my dad really pushed be to pursue them once my mother left. At first I did it as a way to please him, but I found out I really have actual talent for sports so now it more of a way to release stress and relax. I don’t know what I do without it.” Aviary thought for a moment. “I don’t have any pets at the moment, but I been thinking about getting a cat.” A smile flashed across Aviary face, she had always wanted one and was actually excited that her dad was finally agreeing to give her one sometime in the next two months. “ I don’t really like pickles very much, everyone else seems to like them, but I think they are kind of gross.” He nose wrinkled up in disgust as she talked about them. “I’m interested strange things and stories, it makes life a little more interesting, and I hope to become a nurse someday. I would say professional athlete but let us be honest that does not happen to most people.”
There was so much more that Aviary wanted to say to him, but she decided to keep things simple for the time being. She looked back up at Cody who seemed to be thinking about her responses. “Do you have any favorite book, movies, or bands?” She said. Aviary wanted to kick herself she thought that was such a corny question, but she really need to say something without blatantly confessing her strong like for him. For some reason Aviary did not think Cody would mind all that much.

As Aviary talked about her love of sports, Cody felt like he had died and gone to heaven known as the perfect girl. He had been trying for years to find a girl who would appreciate sports the way he did and had no such luck. Most girls thought that sports were too gross or preferred to do ballet or something like that, not to say that they were any less attractive than Aviary. But, her love of sports drew him closer to her, like a bear to honey or something like that. Everything about her continued to amaze him in a way he didn't understand existed. He wanted to spend every moment with her, just to learn more about her. Even hearing her distaste for pickles made him smile as her wrinkled nose gave one of the cutest looks he had ever seen. And her ambition to become a nurse gave him even more admiration for her. She had dreams and aspirations.
Walking a little further, he heard her ask about his favorite movies and such. "Honestly, I like a lot of guy movies like Fight Club or 300," he admitted, shuffling his feet along. "My favorite book is a tie between the Harry Potter series or The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and I like most alternative bands from the 1990s and early 2000s, like Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, and Iron and Wine." Dakota knew he was kind of old school, but he never minded much. He got a lot of his tastes from his father, who taught him the art of music and how to read from an early age. "What about you?" he asked. "I know I like to take things back in time with my tastes, but everyones different."

“Oh no, I’m the same way.” Aviary admitted. It was good to hear that someone else had old school taste just like here. “as far as books go, I really like catcher in the rye. I don’t read much, but that the one book that I seemed to enjoy.” Aviary thought for a bit. “As for movies, I like Thrillers, scary movies, and comedies. I would have to say though, my favorite movie is tied between Saving Private Ryan, and American History X. don’t get me wrong I like girly movies too, but living with my father, I grew up on films that were a less feminine.” Aviary smiled. She knew how much her Dad loved movies, and was always trying to expose her to some of the classics that he somewhat grew up on. “ I love The Beatles, I know that is really old school, but there is just something about them I don’t get tired of, I also agree with you about music from the 90’s and 2000’s. I enjoy Nirvana, The Flaming lips, Muse, and a little Death Cab for Cutie every now and then.”
At that moment, Aviary was very close to Cody, she was debating wither or not she should reach out and grab his hand. She held back though, scared about his reaction. She could tell her Body was becoming more and more opened to the fact she wanted to be close to him. This time though she did not fight it, she just let it happen. She hoped that Cody would not mind.
